I'm losing my bliss.

Having surfed the Anderworld this morning I'm sorry to see that I'm not the only one who is sensing a shift in it's Tectonic Plates (ok, that's a stretch but give me a break, I'm losing my bliss). What is my bliss, well since I'm losing it, past tense is more appropriate, what was my bliss? My bliss was settling down, after a long, productive day, with a tall drink, a warm blanket, a quiet house, in front of a big screen television to watch that day's world events presented to me a handsome, snarky, caring newsman. A newsman who stopped covering Natalie Holloway because nothing new was developing, while everyone else was flying to Aruba. A newsman who wasn't afraid to share his soul, his personal demons, to make me understand a story through his eyes. A newsman who didn't edit out the tears when he was overwhelmed at the history he was witnessing. Well, most of that seems to be gone now. Edited away by a network determined to make the newsman into the robotic anchor that he always scorned. Night after night it seems we hear variations of the same stories. I see so little of what first drew me to your coverage. If this is the new 360 then you need to update your webpage. It still thinks the show is 'ANDERSON COOPER 360°".. a fast-moving, surprising and provocative alternative to the typical network evening newscast.' Unfortunately it's not. The humor, the irreverence, the ability to inform AND entertain, that's what's gone and with it my bliss.

I agree with you 100%. It's so sad to see, but there's definitely been a change... and not for the better.

I think it would be hard on anyone to do 2 hours a day live tv 5 days a week! yikes. ( and write a book) How can anyone be 'on' all that time and not fall short?
Hey George Stroumboupoulis (CBC Newsworld) and Jon Stewart (comedy central) only have to do 1 hour a day,4 days a week... and they do have thier bad moments too. Don't forget that I am not even talking about show prep time. I am not saying you are wrong because all the fans seem to be saying the same thing. I just think too much pressure is on the guy.

I agree, even though I hate to! I used to make my son shower during the 7 o'clock show so I could watch a piece, then I'd stay awake as long as I could when it switched to ten. Now, my eyes start to close after a few minutes... it's just not the same. He had such a fan base because he was different- surely the network realizes that.

I couldn't agree more. I sent an email to CNN shortly after the AC360 shift to 10pm Eastern time, saying essentially the same thing. I wasn't too pleased with the time slot change, but even more unhappy with the change in style and content. All of the things that made Anderson so endearing in the first two years were slowly taken away. Now he IS just what he said he didn't want to be. I have no doubt that it's not his decision, but the programming Gods at CNN. And it's a damned shame.
