Tonight in Waveland, Mississippi with Anderson Cooper

screencaps courtesy of bcfraggle

Seriously the best 360 I've seen in months. The stories were fresh and Anderson was remarkable, he pulled out all the stops tonight. We also had John King, Michael Ware, Peter Bergman, Dr. Sanjay Gupta, Gary Tuchman and no repeats! Here are a few pictures to help you through the looooooong weekend without 360. (Anderson said tonight he wouldn't see us until Monday, so I guess last night he was just teasing.)

Since I knew Anderson would be broadcasting from Waveland, Mississippi tonight I decided to do a little research. I knew very little about Waveland and here's some of what I found on the internet. Most figures are based on 2000 United States census.

Elevation is 17 feet above sea level, no wonder it flooded so badly.

Median resident's age is 38.0 years. This is also surprising. Fairly young area.

Median household income: $33,304. Average median income for all the US is $43, 527

Median house value: $90,100. Average median house value for all the US is $169,000.

Races in Waveland:
White Non-Hispanic (83.9%)
Black (11.2%)
Hispanic (2.0%)
American Indian (1.0%)
Vietnamese (1.0%)
Two or more races (0.9%)

Ancestries:
French (17.3%)
German (14.2%)
Irish (13.2%)
United States (10.9%)
English (10.7%)
Italian (5.2%).

It was the best 360 I've seen in a long time, too. Lots of interesting perspectives from all of the crew who were there. I'm really looking forward to the show next week. Seeing the Mardi Gras segment should be fun.

Wow, you do your homework. Yes, the show was very interesting and looks promising for next week. My prayers are for the people who live there or want to move back.
Best of luck to them and may they have enough good come into their lives.
