And the winner of the first Let's Vote, by a vote of 62% to 38% is:
I have a few finds of my own, but they pale in comparison. ACMIfan set me a link to an interesting item up for auction on Ebay. Recognize it?

In my searching around the internet I've found several blogger accounts that place Anderson at the Scissor Sister's concert in New York City on Saturday night. I'm jealous, I'd love to see one of their concerts. Did you read Rachel's account of her SS concert experience in NOLA? When Ta Dah was first released Rachel asked me what song I liked best. After many, many listens I think it must be 'I Can't Decide'. The lyrics are twisted but so quotable. For example:
It's a bitch convincing people to like you
If I stop now call me a quitter
If lies were cats you'd be a litter.
And the chorus:
I can't decide
Whether you should live or die
Oh, you'll prob'ly go to heaven
Please don't hang your head and cry
No wonder why
My heart feels dead inside
It's cold and hard and petrified
Lock the doors and close the blinds
We're going for a ride.
I told you it was dark and twisted, but it's catchy.
Do you have a favorite SS song?
I made a decision tonight, I love John King! No, not like lower case love, but LOVE, as in he's awesome. Did you see Broken Government? I think it took balls for a Washington correspondent to paint such a dark picture of the current administration. Actually maybe JK showed restraint, he could have made our current administration look even worse, if he wanted to.
I was moved by Senator Robert Byrd's account of his first impression and subsequent reality of President Bush. In Senator Byrd's own words "No President is above the law, or above the Constitution. I have to say that this White House, I think, has disregarded the Constitution in many ways. And I think the people are going to make a judgment and so will history." The current administration has skirted and subverted the rights that our founding fathers guaranteed us in our Constitution and they've gotten away with it. It brought me back to Keith Olberman's comment earlier in the month concerning the poisoning of habeas corpus. He said"We have a long and painful history of ignoring the prophecy attributed to Benjamin Franklin that 'those who would give up essential liberty to purchase a little temporary safety, deserve neither liberty nor safety.'" So who to believe, Benjamin Franklin or George Bush when he says 'Either you are with us or you are with the terrorists'. I think you know my answer.
And if I haven't depressed myself and probably you enough here's something that keeps me awake at night. I can't help but think Karl Rove has a rabbit he's just waiting to pull out of his hat to rescue the Republicans in the midterms. Whether it is capturing Osoma, firing Rumsfeld, or another 'terrorist' plot that wags the dog, I just feel like the other shoe has yet to drop. Please let me be wrong and let this election be decided by people based on facts not further manipulation of facts. And on that happy note have a wonderful weekend!

The Republican party has fallen to such a low level that it's reminiscent of the Nixon downfall.
I too am beginning to adore John King and Anderson had better watch out because we are bonding with him during his absence!
BTW, is he single?
From what I've heard he's divorced and has two children. He gave the commencement speech at Hobart and William Smith College on May 14th this year.
In that speech he said
"I am a very private person. That may sound odd coming from someone you can see most days on television. But that is what I do– not who I am. And there is one last lesson there. There was a time when I forgot to separate the two – and I paid a high price. Work became so important I was missing t-ball, dance class, the joy of a child’s laughter at the dinner table – the gift of goodnight daddy said in a quiet yawn. I was failing the simple test my dad once set for me. Look in the mirror. If you can’t look that guy in the eye and hold the stare, then fix the reason why. I still miss too much. But my children are my best friends now, and I learn from them so much more than they learn from me. Don’t be in too much of a hurry. And know, whatever your speed, you are going to make your share of bad choices. But I believe you will make fewer of them because you made this choice – to learn at the Colleges with a conscience, a place that values tradition, the classics, community and public service.
Makes ya want to huggle him, doesn't it?
I agree Phebe, JK is doing a great job, and is intelligent and honest. I emailed 360 and told them that he is great and so much better than Bad John. Hopefully they will listen and use JK more often when Anderson is away.
Yes, I have a favorite Scissor Sisters song, "I Don't Feel Like Dancing". I love it because no matter how stressed I am at work, or how low in a funk, it makes me smile and I can just picture Anderson Dancing" around in his office to it, to relieve stress. Silly, but it works! =)
Thanks for the great comments from JK in your post. What an amazing person. Here's to more Good John! =)
Phebe, but the shirt isn't blue and we all know Anderson only wears blue. As for SS I have 2 favorites, my sing along fave is Take Your Momma and my listen fave is Mary.
Can't wait until the election is over people no longer say what they are going to do, but what their opponent hasn't done. It's so hard to find the real issues here in MI, but what I personally see going on doesn't get addressed.
amen!!!!
i've hated rove for years (was living in tx when shrub was gov). i've had a copy of that time "cover" since the 2000 election.
on a happier note, i've been so pleased that the good john is filling in for anderson! nothing like intelligent eye candy!! :)
Awwwwww, I love this guy! LOVE in all caps, too!! :)
Thanks for posting the speech.
If it wasn't for the whole Oedipus(reversed sex) thing, I'd want to be "adopted" by J.K. hehehe
cstkitten
@qagrl: LOL! You're right ... AC better look out. JK is a winner.
@phebe: that speech is very touching. Thanks for sharing. As for SS, I too love "I Can't Decide". The right amount of warped humor and jangle to make it fun. "Take your Mama." "I don't feel like dancing" is also my "pick me up" ... I play it while folding laundry. As Anderson said, "SS is great for escapism." Whether you're covering a war or dealing with the drugery of housework, it works for me. Have a lovely weekend.
Phebe, honey, I'm telling Anderson on you!!! :) Fickle Fickle Fickle!!!
My favorite SS song has got to be "Kiss You Off" or "I Can't Decide" I love them both so much for a couple of reasons! Really nasty past BFs!!!
And lets just pray people vote the issues. I can't stand irresponsible voters. It drives me crazy! Thats part of my Election Day post!
I'll miss you guys! No computer to even check up on you all! Do you think DH will notice I disappear to find the Business Center so I can steal some time on the computer??
Hello everyone! Long time no post, but it's a rainy dismal morning here in KC and I sure don't feel like working, so I thought I would visit my friends at ATA.
My favorite SS song...off of Ta Da! is "She's My Man" and all time favorite is "It Can't Come Quickly Enough".
And John King...oh my. Sorry Anderson, but I've got that loving feeling for JK this week. I've been watching American Morning before work just to see him. He is wicked smart and while he is a no BS political reporter, he's able to speak very well on most any topic.
BTW, Karl Rove started yesterday with the signing of the Immigration Bill. And he tried to sway the country's view of the President with that speech he made the other day. You know the shift from "Stay The Course," but Bush couldn't pull of the speech like David Gergen said.
How disgusting would it be if something major like capturing Bin Laden or troop reduction in Iraq happens in the next two weeks. Don't get me wrong, I'd love both to happen, in fact I pray for it to happen. But if either of these things miraculously happen right before mid-term elections, it just reaffirms how sleezy this administration really is. To leave people's lives hanging in the balance long enough to create a splash to sway the vote. That's just, well that's just Karl Rovian! (can you see me spitting?)
(BTW, I know this stuff happens all the time, but it doesn't mean its not disgusting just the same. That goes for both parties) I do not like being a pawn for this country! Okay, I'll shut up now!!!
@Sheryn, how does that old song go..If you can't have the one you love, love the one you're with!
so midterm elections. i've been watching the coverage but i don't really understand how the whole thing works. it's not the same as the way we do it in canada.
either way, it is interesting to watch it all unfold as an outsider. because the states is such a huge global power, the outcome of your elections will have an affect on me [maybe not directly, but you know what i mean]. i almost feel like i deserve a say in the whole thing. i have formulated an opinion and i want to vote!
it's funny how much coverage canadians see of american politics and elections. how much canadian politcs do americans see? do you get bombarded when we have federal elections? haha i doubt it...
@phebe: I watched Jk's special last night also. It was the best of the specials so far. He really knocked it out of the park. Thanks for sharing that interviews with him. It shows that he is really the GOOD John!
@ Sheryn: "Kiss you off" is my favorite too and "Ooh". I wonder what song Andy likes?
One thing that is amazing to me, a Canadian, is the virulent antiBush sentiment expressed by Anderfans. It just shows how intelligent an audience Anderson draws! Lou Dobbs, you may state on the air that your viewers are the most intelligent but I 'll bet most don't fall into the prized demo. Anderson is really the King!
@Phebe: You left out the best part of "I Can't Decide" (IMHO):
Oh I could throw you in the lake
Or feed you poisoned birthday cake
I won't deny I'm gonna miss you when you're gone
Oh I could bury you alive
But you might crawl out with a knife
And kill me when I'm sleeping
That's why....I can't decide...
Those lyrics, combined with the honkytonk/rinkydink piano are too freakin' funny!
HOLY CRAP it's THE SHIRT!!! NO make it go away, PLEASE!!! LMAO
Since the MAN has blocked eBay it the person listing this shirt saying it is Anderson's favorite "On Location" attair? Is so it would go for lots of clams.
Oh Phebe...my favorite SS song...OK here it goes
Flithy/Gorgeous
Take you Mama Out
Music is the Victim
She's My Man
Paul McCartney
Land of a Thousand Words (only now because when Jake was signing it he looked right at me and we sang together "I'm glad I'm on your good side") *sigh*
Yes Sheryn nice picture find and I have already saved them to my computer for the future.
Hey guess what??? IT's FRIDAY!!
John King ROCKS!!! ROCK ON JOHN!!! The KING of all fill in anchors.
Good Day!
@Rachel no the shirt is listed on Ebay as just an AF military style shirt and it's the only one available that I've ever seen except on Anderson. However I did find myself a smilar style in green before I went to NOLA, but it was too warm to wear it.
I think Anderson mentioned once that he had Comfortably Numb on his Ipod. And I don't see how he can just stand around at a SS concert and at least not sing along.
I was watching a program with Anderson where they gave someone a T-Shirt and he said he wanted one. They told him sure and he said small or medium! As for JK..I continue to think he's great. Thanks phebe for the excerpt from his speech..very interesting. My favorite Scissor Sister songs are a little older. Although family and friends call me Em, the name on my birth certificate is Mary..guess that tells you my "favorite". I also really like Return to Oz, it has very interesting lyrics. Both
are 5 Star songs on my IPOD. Like the rest of you, can't wait for Anderson to return. Hope you all have a great weekend!
@em do you now the story behind SS Mary? For those of you who don't here it is. Jake wrote it for his deep platonic love for his best friend in real life, Mary ("Mary"). Mary died of a brain aneurysm in April 2006, news that devastated members of the band. Got this info from Wikipedia. I love Mary and it made me cry at first, but now that I know the back story it all makes sense. Jake would be another great guy to know. Van you imagine spending time with both Jake and Andy in NYC.
Hello - finally cleaning up and warming up here in Buffalo. No power, no heat, and no Anderson for a couple of weeks makes for a very frustrated woman.
Luckily my tickets to his Nov. 11th Distinguished Speaker appearance at UB arrived during the storm and cheered me up immensely.
John King is sooooooooooo much better than Bad John. What does Bad John do when he's not on AC360? Do you think he knows how bad he is?
Fave SS songs are definitely the first three songs on the first CD and now I love OOH, Paul McCartney and The Other Side - really great.
Anderson must dance, sing or do something when he listens to this band - how can you not?
Have a great weekend all.
Is Anderson on vacation next week, too?
Thanks gracie for the background on "Mary". So sorry for Jakes loss... makes the lyrics even more poignant. I just remembered where I heard Anderson's comment on his shirt size. Larry King was interviewing Donnie and Marie Osmond. This caught my interest because I have lived in Utah for many years. Donnie described finding old T-Shirts from the Donnie and Marie Show in his basement and how they became a big hit with his son's teenage friends. At that point, Larry went to Anderson and Anderson (very cutely) told Donnie he wanted one. Donnie said they would send him a T-shirt and Anderson responded "Small or Medium." Now you are all seeing the crazy things my mind recalls!
Okay I know I'm the odd man out in this and please don't throw your tomatoes at me but don't you find JK's fish puckered lips distracting? I'd be the first to admit I didn't watch the show this week but I just can't seem to be able to concentrate when he talks. Well I can't seem to concentrate when Anderson talks either but that's a whole other story. LOL!
Holy cow, You guys are really tough on John Roberts.Give the guy a break.
LOL - love that TIME cover!
Favorite SS song - I'm torn between Laura and Music is the Victim. But I have several on my MP3 and enjoy them all. They're just fun!
I don't care for John Roberts either. I think it's because he is so wooden. He reminds me of one of those marionettes. lol
John King is better. I think he's okay looking but I like his personality better than JR.
John King is ok, but NO ONE can compare to Anderson, IMO. How could anyone possibly consider changing their allegiance from AC to JK?! Ain't gonna EVER happen with me, I don't care how good John is, and he's not THAT good!
My favourite SS song is 'I Don't Feel Like Dancin'!!! I always really love the song 'Paul McCartney', especially when the lyrics start, "here I was awaiting, praying for the music..."
