He's Back

It was great to have Anderson back at the helm of Tuesday's AC360. This is the first time in a long time that AC has returned from his travels without a major case of the sniffles. Maybe he finally remembered to pack the Airborne?
A good portion of the first half hour of Tuesday's AC360 was dedicated to coverage of the crisis in Pakistan. First, Zain Verjee updated us live from Pakistan on the demonstrations that are being held to protest Musharraf's emergency rule. Anderson said Zain was reporting on a vegan transmission. Hmmm...any idea what that means? I thought vegan related to very strict vegetarian diet.

Then Joe Johns filed a report from Washington, DC and we had Peter Bergen, from London and Fareed Zakaria, the editor of Newsweek International, sharing their knowledge of what is unfolding in Pakistan. Fareed Zakaria basically reiterated what I said in my post on Monday night. He summarized by saying "(Musharraf) presents us with a this devils dilemma, you either support a very unpopular dictatorship or an increasingly radicalized society in which the only people who have power are the Islamic militants".
Next up was a report from the Mexican border with CNN's newest correspondent Abbie Boudreau. Abbie has done a two-part investigative report on Border Minutemen in Arizona and the allegations that they are misspending donations, which are intended to build a fence to protect U.S. borders.
I wonder why AC said he didn't think Tom Foreman played much baseball as a kid? Could it be the awkward slide into home on the field of dreams? I actually think this was just TF's attempt not to ruin a perfectly good pair of jeans.
I watched Candy Crowley's interview with Hillary Clinton 3 times over and could not really summarize what was covered. The segment was billed as Candid Clinton. I found it anything but candid. I learned nothing new, and found it's message contradictory and garbled. I love Candy and her reports, but Ms. Clinton seems too slick for her own good. I would really like to support her, but I don't have a good grasp on who she is and how she really thinks. She seems so plastic to me.
Soledad's report on the child soldiers of Africa jogged my memory about a documentary that won Sundance this year and is due for wide release this weekend. It deals with the children of Uganda, some of these same child soldiers. The documentary is call War Dance. To watch a preview follow the link.

If you stuck around to the end of the program you saw AC read Annie Kate's comment. Way to go AK! Speaking of Annie Kate she sent this along to us today:
Animal Planet will be rerunning Planet in Peril on December 2nd and 3rd. There's something to look forward to.

Tonight's 360 was very good for a change in my opinion. I was glad to see Anderson back at the helm.

Female Child Soldiers - Soledad O'Brien interviewed those women in Congo it's a sad situation what all was done to them. Their is an organization trying to help them out, It's called "Empowering Hands" the story is in Glamour Magazine.

"360 Bulletin" the story about the little girl that has to have surgery on her extra arms and hands was pitiful, I'm glad that they are able to do surgery on the little girl in order to help her. I'm pray that the little girl comes though the surgery just fine.

Desperate Housewives writers are going on strike so there would be no more Desperate Housewives it makes me mad that they are going to do that. They just started a new season about 4 weeks ag. I have also heard on other programs there maybe doing away with a lot of shows because of the writers strike.

The Shot of the day! the cat that cost $22,000 dollars I'm sure there are alot of people crazy enough to pay that much for a weird cat like that. They probably trying to figure out where to purchase one right now.

360 Raw Politics, I don't know what Tom Foreman was trying to do, It was funny I know he wasn't playing baseball. It looked like he was very cold so he may have been running to keep warm LOL :-)

Hillary Clinton I don't want Hillary Clinton to win, but I think the rest of the democrats are afraid that she will.

"Chaos in Pakistan, State Of Emergency" we are giving Pakistan hundred million a month. We are not getting our money's worth! we have to have a relationship with Pakistan, but at what cost? It's like we are in a catch 2/22 situation. This is my opinion.

Congratulations Annie Kate for having your blog read on 360 tonight. I'm glad someones blog from our page finally got read.

Glad that Anderson's back. And I'm psyched that Animal Planet will be airing Planet in Peril, especially since I don't currently have CNN HD, but I do have Animal Planet HD. Woo hoo!

He's back and it was one of the worst 360's I have seen in a while. I don't know if it's because I am not feeling well or because it was just a bad show.

Raw Politics was the best part of the show. Tom sliding into home plate was so funny :)

The Interview with Hilary...to me it seemed like alot of talk about nothing. It didn't seem like they really covered anything.

I saw that Andy read Annie Kate's comment...congralations!!!

FanGirl moment: (I can't even remember the last time I did ths) How pretty did Andy look last nite??? I loved the tie. Blue always looks so nice on him :) and his hair looked so soft and cloud-like

Even if Pakistan is under the state of emergency which I think is equivalent of a martial law, he can't still crushed the problems of insurgency. What he did is a matter of vested political interests.

@Annie Kate, congratulations!!

What a great way to start my wednesday! Anderson is back!!
Phebe, I think that Anderson called it a "vegan transmission" because the poor girl's face had the same greenish color as the bushes behind her...sounds plausible, no?
(I'm doubtful about the spelling of at least 3 words in that sentence, but I'm too lazy to grab my English-Dutch dictionary, sorry) Bye

Bless you Ms. Phebe for the most beautiful Anderson pictures. I did not see Anderson last night because my CNN channel is not working for some strange reason. Thank you for you post. This one really means alot to me.

@acanderfan, I have to agree with you. I didn't enjoy last night's program much at all. 360 seems to be a shell of it's former self. I sure hope it finds it's direction soon.

@Phebe, you are so right. 360 does seem to be a shell of it's former slef. However, in October it was pretty good. I just wish they could be more consistent. It seems like 360 is either really good or it's not good at all. To me it seems like there is no middle ground at all.

Shoot. I missed it. Typical. If the show wasn't very good, then I can't imagine it would have held my attention for too long, however it would have been nice to see Anderson back.

@Annie Kate, CONGRATS! Unfortunately, the podcasts rarely show viewer comments, so I won't be able to see it. But who knows, maybe they'll surprise us :)

How niiiice was it to see Anderson back last night!, really, really missed him!, and he looked wonderful too, Yeaaaa! Anderson's back!, yeaaaaaa Anderson's back!

On the serious note, It's great for the former women child soldiers to be recognized and given the women of the year award with the glamour magazine. It take such a courage, and a great heart for them to forgive what's been done to them and counsel those who're going through the same thing they've experienced. GOD BLESS THEM!

maybe 360 was so good because anderson was psyched about PIP airing.

Is it just me or did it look like Anderson and Abbie Boudreau were flirting?

What did Erica call her cat again? I forgot.

It was a good show....The story about empowering hands was also interesting. AC looked a little tired but he was still cute.

Lulu...Miss Lulu if you're nasty!

"Is it just me or did it look like Anderson and Abbie Boudreau were flirting?"

I would certainly hope that Abbie is professional enough to not flirt on the air on her first day of work with a major news organization. But some people think Anderson and Erica flirt with each other, I guess everyone sees it differently.

I think Anderson was just being polite and welcoming her aboard, and she perhaps excited.

Fareed Zakaria is a great addition to CNN, I'm glad he'll be getting a lot of airtime. The Empowering Hands report was very interesting, I'm glad to see that the women are doing much better because of that organization. Abbie Boudreau is another good addition to the show.

It was great having AC back, he was smiling and seemed upbeat for someone who just returned from a long trip. His "Miss Lulu if you're nasty" remark cracked me up.

Congrats to Annie Kate! There's nothing like hearing AC say your name and words on the air!

Looks like tomorrow night's show is taped in looking at the segment shown tonight, and Anderson didn't say see you tomorrow night.
