What Are You Doing New Year's Eve?

Can you believe that we’ve reached the last day of 2007? Anderson will be bringing in the new year once again from Times Square. The New Year’s Eve Special starts at 11pm ET on CNN.

The Times Square Alliance website has a schedule of events for New Year’s Eve and its listing that Anderson will be doing an hourly countdown starting at 10pm ET (at least for those of you who will be at Times Square.)

9:58 p.m. to 10:01 p.m.

Hourly Countdown with Anderson Cooper

As we approach the New Year, Anderson Cooper will appear on the Countdown Stage to say “Happy New Year”, and lead the Times Square revelers in counting down to the end of each hour as a fifteen second video countdown is displayed on the giant Panasonic screens accompanied by special sound effects.

This is a great website if you want to brush up on your New Year’s Eve from Times Square trivia. You know that Anderson will have all sorts of trivia for the NYE broadcast. Did you know that there’s a new New Year's Ball? This is the 100th anniversary of the dropping of the ball. The new and improved ball has 672 crystal triangles and is more than twice as bright as the old one.

Of course, this isn’t the first year that Anderson has been the host of the New Year’s Eve special. Below is a clip from the CNN All Access podcast of the behind the scenes from last year’s program.

What are your plans for New Year’s Eve? We’re having a party and you’re invited! If you’re going to be watching Anderson, why don’t you join us here, too? We’ll be running a live chat starting at 10pm ET. Cyn will be your moderator for the evening and will be posting comments in real time to tomorrow night’s New Year’s Eve post.

One last treat for 2007- a new puzzle. This is one of my favorite pictures of Anderson from New Year’s Eve past.

I hope you all have a Happy New Year – see you in 2008! ~Book Asylum

Thanks for the Times Square New Year's info link. I really love stuff like that. Just once in my life I'd like to experience New Year's in Times Square, it has to be pretty amazing, even if you only do it one time.

That moment in 2004 when AC put on that silly hat and said something about the last shreds of his dignity slowly slipping away is one of my favorites. And in puzzle form too, love it.

Oh, this live chat sounds like fun!!!
I'm so gonna try and make it, but getting up at 5 am might hurt too much...
In case I don't make it, I wanna wish everyone a great night and...

I think you guys know what I'm doing tonight - spending NYE w/ Anderson, as usual!

It may be sad, but it's an improvement over what I used to do, which was nothing.

I love the banner, thank you BA!
My puzzle time was 8:01, I'm sure some of you can beat that. Happy New Year's everyone and enjoy the party tonight.

Great post BA ~ fun puzzle

So it is now 2008 in New Zealand, Austrilia and Hong Kong. One of my favourite parts of New Years Eve is watching New Years being brought in around the world and watching the fireworks.

See you all later tonight for the live chat :)

Anderson blogged a short while ago and here is the part with the best news.

This year should be especially fun because Kathy Griffin will be joining me live in Times Square. She'll give us her top ten moments of 2007 and who knows what else. Erica Hill and Kiran Chetry will also be in Times Square helping us ring in the New Year. As those of you who've watched before know, we like to show you how the New Year is celebrated around the world and around America. John Zarrella will once again be in Key West, Florida, for the drag queen drop, areen Wynter is in Vegas, and Sean Callebs is in New Orleans.

We get John Zarella and Sushi.....New Years is complete

Thanks for the Behind the scene video!
I will try to be there at 4 or 5 am for the Live chat. It's going to depend of the quality of my Champagne. If it's a good one, I will be there, it's a bad one, well, I let you guess...

I wish you all a great night!

Love the new banner, BA! That hat is classic!

SO glad we get the drag queen drop again this year! It just isn't New Year's without it!

I'm off to the store to pick up some nibblies! See you all later!

I'm not sure what we'll be talking about during the chat tonight, but I thought it would be cool if everone shared their favorite moment of 2007.

Why do I have a feeling that Sapphire and I share the same favorite moment of 2007??? LOL!!!

Hi I am HanNaYoung. This is my second posting!!
I wish everyone a happy new year with your family and friends.

For my last winter vacation, I decided to spend time in NYC "all by self". I wanted to be alone in this city.
So I am all alone in here. until yesterday, it was good and really fun. I haven't been lonely at all.

Today, I really wanted to go and see the descending ball in Times Square, but now I am just staying in. (I am a wimp.)
And I realized that "without family and friends", the last day of the year is lonely and there is nothing to do..
The worst thing is here is no TV...!!
I am not having happy New Year Eve, but I hope you guys have great time.^^
