Political Poobahs

Surprise! I’m filling in for Ms Phebe tonight who is taking the night off.

As much as I love my politics, you know that the election cycle has gone on far too long, when the buzz of the day revolves around a predictable endorsement, candidates’ spouses, and how the speeches are being wordsmithed. Should we be discussing those pesky issues instead?

Candy Crowley was reporting from Chicago with the latest on the Clinton and Obama campaigns. My favorite quote from her report was “It’s the ‘Where’s the beef?!?’ campaign – the 2008 version.”

I enjoyed the “political poobahs” on the panel discussion tonight- it was quite spirited! Tonight’s panelists were: David Gergen, Bay Buchanan, & Keith Boykin. Did it seem a bit awkward to any of you when they transitioned from the panel to Erica for the 360 Bulletin? Keith Boykin was sort stuck in the middle.

It sounded like the going price of a Super Delegate was about $10,000. I knew that politicians help support each other campaigns- especially the Democrats during the 2006 elections- that unified front of “change” is quite possibly how/ why they regained control of congress. (OK- the current President helped them out in non-monetary ways as well.) David Mattingly’s report put those campaign contributions in a completely different light. I hope they follow up on this story after the convention – it would be interesting to see the comparison of contributions and the actual delegate votes.

The childhood pictures of both Erica and Anderson came out again tonight. These pictures never get old!

Abbie Boudreau’s interview with Jessica Baty, the girlfriend of the NIU shooter, was heartbreaking and fascinating. He just didn't fit the obvious profile for a shooter. Sad story.

Congratulations to Kristien for winning the Beat 360 tonight!

Looks like we’ll have to wait until Wednesday to see who the mystery voice is Round 3 of Voice of 360°. If you haven’t heard the clip yet, its posted on the AC360 blog.

Over the next week you’ll see some changes at ATA. Some are minor, some more important. Starting tonight all comments have to be from registered Google/Blogger users.

Don’t have a Blogger or Google account?

It’s easy to set one up-

from the Comments page-

It will only take a minute or two and then you'll be able to post your comment.

Tuesday is going to bring us another set of election results with primaries in both Wisconsin and Washington & a caucus for the Democrats in Hawaii, so I expect that Anderson will be in the CNN Election Center. I’ll see you all again tomorrow night!

360 was a little too political for my liking last nite. Sometimes it dosen't bother me and other times it is just too much politics. I wish AC and 360 would remember that there is still international news and news other than politics going on.

I love seeing childhood pictures of Anderson and Erica.

Kristien, congratulations on winning the beat 360 contest!!!

Hi,

This is a bit off topic, but I just thought all readers here might be interested, and also be able to figure it out what the heck is up,and comment on it.

Regarding the nightly live blog, well I have been conducting experiments and actually keeping track of certain names and how often they had appeared.I did this out of curiousity,as the same people were turning up with almost everything they sent in,so it seems anyhow.

On one particular night last week, there was person #1 who appeared 12 times!
Second place was person #2 with 8!

There is also person #3,who regularly appears with at least 6 or 7 each and every night.

All 3 of them(plus a few others) continue to have at least 4 or 5 night after night.

I just question how this happens, when plenty of others try and never get it to work.

It just makes me wonder...

what kind of moderation is going on with it anyway?

If any of you have tried,I was wondering,is it faster or easier to use Wordpress,or just your name and email?
Is there one that works better than the other?

It just makes me wonder, what is the secret to it-there sure seems to be!

Like I said,it was only MY experiment and observations, but still, the results made me think about how this seems to always happen, and I wonder about how moderation of it works, for this to occur.

So,I had wondered which is the preferred method of posting for people.

This is just MHO and observation of it,a test I conducted, that's all,but still my results are shall we say, interesting!

Thanks for this blog. I understand the need
to weed out bad apples. This blog and the
sister (All Things CNN) keeps me informed
about CNN my favorite cable news channel.

are you still going to have the archive up?

@Anne, I've noticed and wondered the same thing. I am very surprised if any of my comments make it on. I was so curious about this, I sent two emails to AC360 asking them if there was some preferred method for making comments. Alas, all I received was the standard "we get so many emails etc..."

Did any catch LKL last night? Wow, what a panel. I love politics and don't mind the coverage except that they won't stick to the issues. I am concerned that the demo's could actually blow it again if they keep up the nitpicking and don't start focusing on issues. Then I wonder if is actually the media driving the coverage and focusing on trivia? Am I totally odd or does anyone else ever wonder if what we are hearing on TV and radio is "really" what is happening? I know if you listen to CNN report on a story and listen to the same coverage on Faux, you wonder if both parties were watching the same event. I guess I choose CNN because it seems to make more sense based on how "I" see the world. Still, it leaves me wondering...

So that was our Kristien...good for you! and Andy liked it, he really liked it!!

@ em,
yes all you ever get is that automatic thingy email form CNN,I wrote as well.

I just question and wonder as to the moderation that is happening on their blogs.
It hardly seems a fair one,IMO.

Almost makes me wonder,if some of them have friends in high places!
