Super Tuesday hangover

(photos courtesy of CNN)

Before I begin my post this afternoon, I would like to take a moment to send well wishes to our readers in the tornado-affected areas. I hope you and your families are safe and untouched by the horrific storms.

***********************************

Newsflash: I'm not 20 yrs old anymore. I stayed up to watch Anderson's coverage until 2am and I currently feel like it is the morning after a terrific night of clubbing in New York City "back in the day"! Do me a favor, if you happen upon my youthful energetic soul, can you please return it? I'm desperately searching for it! LOL!

Seriously though, how exciting was last night? All the back and forth was killing me. I found myself biting my otherwise unmanicured nails each time they played the "CNN Projection" music. Okay, I know I'm a geek. I can no longer apologize for it. I've come to terms with the condition and wear the pin proudly!

One tiny complaint, I didn't like the lack of Anderson Cooper screen time but I attribute it to the fit that Lou Dobbs threw a couple weeks ago. Ever since then, its been a threesome of anchors.

The 1am hour was more to my liking! I was so happy to see Anderson Cooper and Ari Fleischer on set together. I'm sorry, I think Ari is so darn cute! I remember watching every press briefing back in the early days of the Bush Administration just to catch a glimpse of those Fleisher dimples. Again, don't ask. It boggles my mind too!

What is your Lenten promise?
Today is Ash Wednesday and the beginning of Lent. When people ask me what I intend to "give up," my reply is always the same: Diet Pepsi, dessert and swearing. This year however, I might be a complete basket case by the time Easter Sunday arrives! I'm not sure I can watch a Republican debate or a Bush press conference without hurling creative curses at the TV! Oh boy, I hope they pick the Democratic nominee soon or this good Catholic girl might not be so holy!

A question for all of those good Catholics out there: What is your Lenten promise this year? (Note: Some people don't like to discuss their Lenten promises and I completely understand.) I'm curious because some make Lenten resolutions such as, "For lent this year, I'm going to make sure I get on that treadmill. I'm improving myself in the name of the Lord." Others like myself feel the need to sacrifice as if it were my penance for all the "not so nice Christian moments" I've had since last Lent. Not sure which is the best way to go about it but hey, it's the thought that counts, right?

Well, that's it for me tonight. I hope you have a wonderful evening. I'll be back tomorrow. Same bat time. Same bat station! ~Sheryn

Sheryn, for Lent I don't give up but increase both prayer and almsgiving. My small faith group meets weekly during Lent rather than montly. I do a lot of cleaning out and donating of useful things that we don't use enough. My 12 yr old reads(something he HATES to do) an extra 20mins a day.

So we add, rather than give up. Of course, we give up the meat today and Fridays.
Enjoy your blog!
Thanks,
Kathy

Sadly I was asleep and missed the 1am hour. I do wish however that Anderson had more screen time. But last nite was pretty interesting and I enjoyed it.

oh my goodness Ms. Sheryn I was up until 2AM as well and I was so tired this morning LOL

Great pics from last night. The 1AM hour had alot of laughs. The longer the team had been up the funnier they got :P

My thoughts and prayers are with all those who lost love ones in the storms last night. It is so sad.

I didn't know people made Lenten promises, but I guess I could do that, allthough I'm not exactly a "good" Christian (or even a Christian, lol)
Hmmm, ok: no ice-cream and no swearing!
That last one also means no GOP debates for me...

I was thinking last night that this was so appropriate- yesterday being Super Tuesday – a complete over indulgence of politics (at least for us political junkies) and the day after – Ash Wednesday. There just seems to be a sort of poetic justice to that.

Good luck with forsaking swearing for the next 45 days. I'm afraid I'd have to go into seclusion with no TV in order to achieve that. Even if I didn't say it out loud- I'd be thinking it! LOL

I was definitely up too late last night and am showing it today. I really do feel like I have a hangover!

As for Lent, for most of my life, I did the traditional give up sweets, swearing, etc, etc. A few years ago, we were fortunate to get a very dynamic priest in our parish...it honestly hasn't been the same since he left. Anyway, he had us all focus on something that would give back rather than something akin to a New Years resolution that we probably wouldn't keep. So I try to find something to committ myself to each Lenten season. For me, it will involve a sacrifice of time to the parish this year. It's amazing how hard it can be to committ to even a few extra hours a week that doesn't involve work or my family...oh and my ATA friends : ) However, making a sacrifice of time has really made Lent more meaningful to me.

What happened with Lou Dobbs? Was he complaining about AC getting more airtime, or was he just in general complaining that he (Dobbs) should be one of the primary anchors? Personally I find him not even remotely interesting, which definitely had some impact on my enjoyment of watching the returns last night.

I definitely missed not having more Anderson, although he's been working so hard lately, he was probably glad to have at least a bit of a break.

It was a rough and scary night in the mid-South. A lot of people lost their homes and left a university shaken but thankful to be alive. My thoughts are with them too.

I couldn't stay up late last night cause I work and get up early, but the returns came back pretty much what I thought. But, the surprise for me was Mike Huckabee taking Alabama and Georgia and Obama losing in Massachusetts after the Kennedy endorsements!

My thoughts are with the families in the South that were hit by the tornadoes. So devastating!

I'm not Catholic and I had already started trying before Lent, but I am trying to quit smoking. It's a bad habit, I know, but I am really trying and doing well with the help of Chantix. It's a miracle drug, believe me! It blocks the Nicotine receptors in the brain until a cigarette doesn't taste good anymore. I haven't had a cigarette at all now for over 72 hrs. and I haven't had any withdrawals. But, you do have to take it for a period of days to weeks before it starts working. I'm just saying I'm a work in progress cause if I say I've quit that will probably be the kiss of death of it! LOL!

I had too much work today to have a Super Tuesday hangover, but I had one anyway - just "toughed" it out. There was a certain "let down" that the analysis today on the TV in the background did not alleviate...
I've sent the ratings to your fearless leader - Phebe - as they were SPECTACULAR! I kind of thought they would be. I was at an industry function, and all computers were on CNN.com. We were all running in checking the delegate count between speeches!

We were worrying about the voting while drinking red wine and having savories, and people were suffering tornados. There never seems to be a time that is right in the world...

Hey guys now you definitely have a reason to
watch 369 each night. On the 360 blog Anderson
says he will be blogging live while on the air.
Yes 360 goes interactive. I wonder if this is
going to be a part of the program being
interactive with Erica. She started out
on Tech Tv.

Ok so for Lent you are supposed to sacrifice something you really like. So I said to my friend I'll give up Anderson. We both looked at each other and laughed! LOL Seriously though I'm gonna give up candy. Does that mean I have to turn off my tv when Candy Crowley comes on ac?
