Anderson had a one on one interview with Scott McClellan, the former White House press secretary who release of his book “What Happened” setting off a firestorm. The interview was spread over three segments.

The first segment had Anderson asking Scott about writing the book and questions about truth and straight out lies. Focus was put on the Iraqi intelligence and where and when spin was used in selling the Iraqi war to the American people. Anderson pressed Scott on what he meant by being in a “bunker”.

The second segment started with Anderson asking Scott if he owed the American people an apology. The segment also focused on the handling of Hurricane Katrina. Anderson asked Scott why he did not resign if he questioned what was happening in the administration. Anderson also asked Scott about the comments that Senator Bob Dole made about Scott and his book.

I have personally not seen any other interviews Scott McClellan has done but I thought Anderson did a good job asking tough but fair questions and trying to get Scott to answer some major questions concerning this book. I wonder what Anderson thinks of the situation after actually reading the book and talking with Scott McClellan. Here is a montage with some of the interview that caught my attention in case you missed Friday’s 360.

What would an AC 360 be without some sort of political news? Tomorrow is the day folks. Tomorrow is the day that the Democratic Rules and ByLaws Committee will decide what happens with the delegations of Michigan and Florida votes. I am so looking forward to watching this process on Saturday. Candy Crowley's piece about Saturday’s meeting gave a little bit of insight of what will happen during the meeting. I know we all have opinions on what should happen in regards to MI and FL but Saturday’s meeting should be interesting no matter what the outcome. Candy said it best at the end of her report, “Wednesday there will be no place left to go.”

Up Close was Bill Clinton unplugged. Jessica Yellin piece shows the different sides of Bill throughout this campaign. It really is amazing how one person can be both a help and a hindrance for the Clinton campaign.

David Mattingly brought us the latest from Texas about the Polygamy case. A judge did not sign the papers to release the remaining children in Texas custody to their parents. David also reported that the FLDS community is beginning to register to vote in the upcoming election in Eldorado. With the number of members at the FLDS who may register (David reported 500 to 600 new voters may register) they can cause a huge uproar if they have member run for office. Here is a perfect example of how voting can cause change to occur if they actually do this.

The Shot Friday night was too good not to clip. Mariah Carey at a baseball game in Japan throwing the first pitch but let’s just say Mariah won’t be joining the women’s softball team in Beijing this year. I cannot laugh at Mariah though because I am not sure I would have done much better. Forget Mariah, anytime we get to see Anderson and David Beckham on the soccer field is worth it to me.
That is it for me. Don’t forget about this weekend’s election coverage. Not 100% sure if Anderson will be making an appearance but maybe if we ask, believe, receive he may just pop up. I hope everyone has a great week. See you next Friday ~ Sapphire

Coop owned Scott McClellan!
I saw Wolf Blitzer's interview with McClellan and thought it was far better than Anderson's attempt. I didn't like Anderson's at all. AC is a FANTASTIC jounralist and has a natural ability for it, however he is not good at interviews, one on ones at all. I think it is his biggest weakness as a journalist.
Once the interview was over the show suddenly became very good.
It will be interesting to see what happens with Michigan and Florida. More than likely whatever the outcome everyone won't be happy.
Once again Bill proves that he is Hilary's biggest asset and liability.
Those FLDS parents must be devasistaed that the judge did not sign the papers allowing their kids to return home.
As for them running someone for office, more power to them if that's what they want to do. The townspeople could be in for some major local election upsets.
You would think that with a good portion of the program being taped last night that Anderson and Erica could have blogged more rather than just two comments each. Neither one of them put much into it but leave most of the conversation to the viewers.
What were they doing? I suppose chatting and laughing with each other as they usually do.
I did like Anderson's interview with McClellan.
I think Anderson did a good job interviewing McClellan, he asked some good questions.
The rest of the show was good and I enjoyed it.
The Shot was funny. Now, I love it when Mariah sings, but her attempt to throw that ball was pathetic, lol.
Great to see Anderson's attempt to stop David's shot again though!
Sapphire, I hope you enjoy the SATC movie. I'm absolutely dying to see it too, I sooo loved that show!! Have fun :D
Yes Anon 5:29, that's all they did, chat and laugh. They weren't working on future programming or anything. No, that couldn't be it.
Why not move on to another program. You are obviously not a fan. Why waste your energy?
Yes but let's go back to the blog opener, Sex and the City. This movie ROCKS!
Not to worry, no spoilers from me. I saw it last night with a group of friends. It is FANTASTIC!!! Anyone who was a regular viewer of the the HBO show will get the feeling that they have just seen a whole new season of episodes. The film is very well done and the moviegoer who never watched the TV show will be just as entertained.
No comment on the politics other than I will be glad when the election comes and goes.
@ anon 1:44 - oh that makes the movie sound so much more exciting. I am really looking forward to tomorrow now.
anon 1:35 PM: Don't think they would be working on future programming during the program that is on the air right at that time. I think that anon 5:29 is simply saying that neither one of them blogs while on the webcam you can see they are laughing with each other when perhaps they could be joining in the live blog conversation.
But perhaps the live blog is really meant for the viewers, not the anchors.
Anderson's interview with McClellan was one of his best, IMO. There were some criticism on the blog about AC interrupting McClellan too frequently, but I thought he was just trying to elicit a deeper and more substantive answer from him. The questions Anderson asked of McClellan were interesting and probing and he seemed intensely engaged in the whole discussion. I thought he did a great job of it.
On the old 360 Anderson used to talk about how much he loved Sex and the City, I wonder if he'll be seeing the movie too.
I agree with acanderfan, Anderson's interviews are usually weak and I did see Wolf Blitzer's interview as well. Anderson asked some of the SAME questions Wolf asked, but as interviews for him go, this was one of his best. I also was wondering why he didn't have more 60 Minute interviews on this year. Maybe the writers' strike had something to do with it.
I also agree he is a great journalist but does better reporting, live, out in the field.
Personally, I got the impression he really doesn't like Scott McClellan and thinks of him as a "snitch."
As far as Anderson's live blogging with Erica, which I stopped doing, I believe he said it "all" on Jay Leno. I know he apologized, but actions speak louder than words and it's obvious to me, he just does it because it's
"required." That's why, when he posts, you get the feeling he actually wants imput.
Go Anderson!! I liked the little snippet you posted Sapphire. You know, I think AC has a knack of cornering people on things because he wants an explanation for himself and to clear up any loopholes in arguments. I think it's a breath of fresh air.
Hahahahaha, Mariah...oh too funny :)
I got the impression he really doesn't like Scott McClellan and thinks of him as a "snitch."
There was a blogger who had an interesting post about how there was so much indignation in the press over Scott McClellan's actions and yet these same media people, such as Anderson, couldn't understand the concept of Stop Snitchin' when it came to other types of criminal activity, they feel if someone is privy to a criminal act, they shouldn't keep silent about it. Well Scott McClellan didn't keep silent and now he's taking heat from some in the media. I liked AC's interview, but that aspect of it is a little odd.
