Kathy Griffin got CNN their ratings
win. What a surprise. A cheap surprise, but if anything goes in the new year maybe she can become one of the panelists instead of David Gergen to keep up the ratings. Oh I forgot, she can't throw things at the Jonas Brothers if she's a panelist, but one never knows.
And how many times do we need to hear P Diddy or whatever he calls himself now, with that vodka commercial which supposedly emphasizes "responsiblity" when drinking and driving? It's enough to make you want to go out and drink and drive.

Anonymous said...

Did anyone see Anderson do a little dance on the webcam? It was really random....and cute.

Anonymous said...

@Anon 12:47, while I seriously doubt that Kathy will replace Gergen or anyone on the panel, I think Kathy has been very entertaining every time she has been a guest on LK or 360. CNN's NYE show was much better than the ones from Fox or MSNBC. However, let's not forget to give Anderson some of the credit too.

360 was great last nite. I think 360 is finally back to being really good and having a variety of stories on.

The best part of the program was when Anderson spoke to Sanjay. I can't even remember the last time Sanjay was on. Ohter than Anderson he is my favorite person at CNN.

The Isreal conflit is bad. I hope something is worked out soon and I hope Nic Robertson stays safe.

It's sad about John Travolta's son. What a terrible way to start the new year :(

The woman who was willing to pay $500 to have her exhusband and his current wife killed just proves that people will do anything. I mean there's something wrong when you think it's OK to pay someone money to kill someone else.

360 is 2 for 2 so far in 2009. Keep it up Team
360. Let's hope it is like this all year long.

Congrats to 360 on their big ratings win for the NYE show - it is well deserved - Anderson and Kathy had me laughing throughout the entire show, they are fantastic together and I hope Kathy will be back for the next one. Most of the other NYE programs that I glanced at were dull, dull, dull but AC and KG were lively and funny, as expected.

360's been great these past two nights with the coverage of Gaza and the "panel" discussion with Anderson and guests. My only complaint is 360's inexplicable need to still report on Sarah Palin, it's not 2012 yet, who gives a crap? Meanwhile, the Michelle Obama preview interview was enlightening - she's going to make a fine First Lady. So sad about Travolta's son, what a tragic beginning for his and his wife's new year.

Anderson's oddness reared its head(butt) again, he's so crazy talking about wanting to learn how to head-butt. I'm sure the Kathy G haters would've loved to see him do that to her the other night.

CNN International might have given the OS veiwers a taste of The Obamas prior to the US, as something about the Obamas played instead of AC360 after NYE.

Yes I'm still going on about, but I don't know if it is the same thing as I stopped watching.

The show was really good today, more relaxed, despite the content.

I liked the stripe shirt and red/maroon tie. EH eyes must have recovered from the late night as she had her contacts in, not her glasses. Unless she was just trying to look smart after NYE LED comment.

Interesting Anders and EH mentioned "internet comments being true" during the show. I think they were making fun of the internet blogs. Is that at all possible??

ACAnderFan said...

@aries moon, I love Anderson's oddness. I cracked up when he said he wants to learn to head butt. If anyone else talked about the stuff he does they'd be weird but for him it's perfectly normal...LOL!

Great show last night, even better one New Year's Eve and amazing blog last night Sapphire, however, Anderson turned 31 in June not 42.

Keep up the great work. You guys make my day (along with AC of course)

I have loved the pace of the last two nights even if the news has been so disturbing. I am thinking they could have titled last nights show "What are they thinking?" or maybe "Is anyone out there thinking?"

Regardless of your position on the Israeli/Palestinian situtation, after hearing the panels you have to wonder what Israel is thinking and where this will all get them.

What is the Hamas leader thinking as he rants on in Syria while his people die on Gaza and then calls out Obama. Correct if I'm wrong but isn't Bush still Pres? I would ask, "What is Bush thinking out on the ranch?" but I gave up on him years ago.

And of course, what in the hell are Sir Charles, the popcorn bandit, and the contract killer ex thinking? Hard to believe the depth of some folks stupidity!

I did watch the webcam last night but I didn't see AC dancing. I did however see him engaging in some kind of antics that looked to me like he was practicing his head butt skills and maybe getting some tips from the crew. Did anyone else see this?

Lastly, I have to say again how much I love Nic Robertson. Did you know he was voted Peoples sexiest newsman 1991...and he was a hunk with his long hair and british accent! Having got that bit of fangurl out of my system, in all sincerity I love the way he covers a story!

I forgot to mention how sad I am for John Travolta, Kelly, and the rest of the family. It was such a miracle when I became a mom that I spent most of my son's childhood consumed with the fear I would lose him. That would be MY worst nightmare. I guess you go on because you have to and for your other children but I can't imagine how. I don't mind hearing about it and I don't mind hearing Dr Gupta's opinion but I sincerely hope AC stays away from the tabloid like coverage I have seen elsewhere. I watched LKL and thought they crossed the line a few times while covering this sad news.

@ Jane in Ottawa (yea another Canadian) - thank you so much for catching my typo. you are right he did not turn 42 although I personally wish he had turned 31 myself so the age difference between us would not be so large HAHA :P

CNN just announced that Anderson will be live in Israel Monday night.

I am somewhat surprised about CNN’s ratings win for the NYE show. I don’t think it is well deserved at all. Did you hear that Kathy recently is all over the news for using her foul language to the hackers? I have to give Larry King an excellent credit for taming Kathy during his show. Larry knows how to tame her, not the way Anderson can. Anderson was too busy looking at elsewhere and didn’t know how to react while she is looking for her excuses. I don’t find anything to be able to laugh at them. I do agree that several NYE programs were pretty much boring and CNN’s NYE show, I thought should be fun and hilarious. Unfortunately, it had not been fun and hilarious this year.

Anonymous said...

Cyn,

I just heard CNN announce myself that Anderson would be reporting from Isreal on Monday. I am not surprised, but I hope him and all reporters stay safe.

I am with all of you 2 for 2 great shows and now he is on his way to a story. I think 360 might just have its groove back. (fingers crossed)

I figured it was only a matter of time before Anderson ended up in Israel. As much as I like when he goes on assignmnet and resports from the field I worry about him.

Margaret Anne said...

I wondered how long it would take before Anderson made his way to the ME, I noticed his hair was freshly cut last night.

anon 12:59 AM I saw that. Plus I loved when the make up girl did her final touch up before air Anderson had to check his hair - so cute.

@Sapphire: Age difference? Which way? 1967=41 Keeping'M Honest, I need to reveal that the picture I chose to use as my avatar is of me, taken at my 24 birthday party on Ford Is. at Pearl Harbor in early July (wait for it!) 1967. I find myself vacillating back and forth between some pretty overwhelming "mom gene" feelings for our young Mr. Cooper; and . . . well, other feelings which don't involve motherly interest. I assume I am not alone.

You, and many other contributors today, are correct - 360 is getting better and better. But, be warned, this wonderful break in politics will end on January 20th, the Panel of Usual Suspects will be back and there go all the interesting guests and non-political stories. TiVo while you can, everyone.

If CNN lets Andy cross the border into Gaza, they are completely crazy. He will try; they must stop him. We've all heard the outright jealousy in his voice when talking to Nic Robertson - you could just feel the drive to be there. We can only all just pray he stays safe (especially from kidnapping) and comes back in good shape. He'll love it. I, for one, will not.

Ditto all expressions of ENOUGH ALREADY! for the Diddy ad. Is anyone out there listening? Like I would EVER buy Ciroc at this point.

Anonymous said...

Does anyone have a clip or footage of the little dance a previous poster said Anderson did on the webcam?

Anonymous said...

Well,I guess it was inevitable that he would go to Israel.

I will be praying for his safety.

I WISH CNN would get rid of that
P Diddy,Puff Daddy,'whoever he is these days' commercial!!

They run these things to death, just like the PEDEGG,and SAMSUNG ones,to name a few.

The show is AWESOME so far this year, dare we hope???

Oh,and didn't Kathy Griffin know that Sanjay is a neurosurgeon?

Anonymous said...

Can you please clip the 'little dance' Anderson did on the webcam?

There is a previous post here about it.

I really do not understand CNN’s decision making strategy!! Why send Anderson to Israel when CNN already has half dozen or so experienced International Correspondents already in the Region and at the Gaza/Israeli Border! No International Journalists are currently allowed into Gaza itself, what the heck difference is Anderson going to make standing reporting from the Israeli Border – it’s just crazy!

Tedi B said...

I happen to like Kathy Griffin a lot and I think she's funny and fun. I can understand why people don't like her. She's not everyone's cup of tea and I get that but A LOT of people do like her and enjoy her with Anderson. If someone doesn't like her they can turn the channel. It's a free country but I really don't think CNN is selling out to have her or are using her for ratings. Anderson happens to really like her and I'm sure he's happy to have her, if not the one to suggest her for the job.

Live and let live....

Kristien said...

That reporter from Lake Tahoe now knows why Anderson and Kathy were on a platform: drunk people can't get to you!
I bet she won't volunteer to do NYE from NY again, lol.

@Tedi: nicely put!

Anonymous said...

@Tedi B, well said!

@Em, I think he did his little dance at around 10:40...it was some sort of head shake/hand waving motion...lol! At the end of the show, it looked like he was showing someone how he'd headbutt...it was funny.

Anonymous said...

FYI - Anderson Cooper was born June 3, 1967. In 2008 he turned 41.

Anonymous said...

I think Kathy and Anderson are a cute fun team when they work together. Anderson has his hands full, but it makes for fun watching.

I can't believe I didn't watch the webcam last might and missed all the crazy activity apparently going on in the studio. I guess nobody has clips or anything. Oh, well, darn.

Anonymous said...

@anon 11:42 AM: You are absolutely correct about KG. Many of us who like anderson, feel the same way about her. Unfortunately, Jon Klein seems to think that AC can't get the ratings on his own or he wouldn't ask her to co-host. CNN is supposed to be a HARD news channel and to feature some one of HER class is a discredit to the CNN. Yes, they deserved their ratings because watching AC coupled with Griffin is like watching a car accident. You just "gotta watch," and Klein's counting on it.
Let's hope Anderson stays safe in Israel.

Anonymous said...

I think the real low for Kathy Griffin was when, on when Gary Tuchman and his daughter Samantha were on, she said "enough with the kid" (did I get that right?) and Anderson didn't stop or or say anything - when he should have said something to her

I mean, to say that about a little girl! and to a coworker of Anderson. She is a real loser

Em said...

@7:11 I thought when Kathy said "enough already with the kid" Anderson did chide her and say "Don't say that to Samantha." Samantha is Gary's daughter. I checked my Tivo and he did! Gotta love that guy!

Anonymous said...

Anonymous 7:11, yes Anderson said "hey don't say that about Samantha" and then KG said she was sorry. So Anderson did say something.

Anonymous 2:12 Anderson is a reporter and we all know he likes to go out in the field. Remember 2years ago when he went to the Middle East for a whole month? This is when he is in his element, when he gets out from behind the desk.

I just pray he and all the others stay safe.

ACAnderFan said...

@Kristien, I LOVE your blogger pic. Very Nice.

Anonymous said...

@Kristien, that reporter who got harassed wasn't in Times Square, she was in Lake Tahoe. Anderson clarified it while the video was showing but it was kinda hard to hear. I guess the drunks act the same everywhere!

Anonymous said...

@EM 8:39 PM: Thank you for posting that Anderson responded about Kathy's remark on Gary's daughter. I guess I missed it.

Just the same, my point was that it was a low thing to say about a child - what if Samantha heard her? Here she is probably all excited to be with her dad on TV on NYE, and Kathy Griffin says this stuff about her (tho not personal, but Samantha probably would not have gotten that). What if that was your daughter?

Kids don't understand or get her humor.

Anonymous said...

@anon 7:11: You're absolutely right. It was a low, but then there were soooo many lows for her we've stopped counting.
I see nothing wrong with pairing AC with Kelly Ripa. He likes her, she makes him laugh, she's fun to watch, and she's cute as a button.
And yes, the ratings would come and no one would be offended. Get rid of that piece of "filth." I could have used stronger language but I find it/she humorless.
Anderson referred to Griffin's antics the other nite, as the "incident." I found that an intentional understatement.

olsond said...

I think what is interesting is that we have several bad things going on in the world and we keep talking about KG. That says something. Just like she has kept it going here, she keeps everyone talking and tuning in. That is how she pulls them in for shows and that is how she got the ratings with Anderson on NYE. I do believe that Anderson really does like her and kind of likes the edge she represents. Love her or hate her people keep her in the front line by discussing her. That is how she does it and it seems to work. Like someone said earlier, we have the choice to tune in or tune out.

Megan Dresslar said...

Actually, you're right about that... we are concern about Israel and Gaza on the war..... I am worried all reporters during war. I hope that Anderson Cooper will stay safe there. Also we need pray for Anderson stay safe. I think maybe they wear protect vest all time.

And "FYI - Anderson Cooper was born June 3, 1967. In 2008 he turned 41.
6:23 PM"

@Anon 6:23 PM.
Yes that is correct his birthday.... on June 3, 1967.... Guess what? My birthday on June 22, 1967 too. I had blast time watch on NYE with Anderson and Kathy!!!! Take care bloggers!
