360 was good last nite. I like that they finally aren't devoting most of the show to swine flu.
Anderson talking with Jeffrey Toobin as always was a highlight of the program. It will be interesting to see who Obama picks to fill Souter's place.
I liked Gary's piece. Something has to be done about the violence in mexico. Between that and swine flu I'm surprised anyone even wants to go there.
I loved how Anderson seemed a little confused during the Miss California segment. So she had breast implants. Who cares???
Mr.Cooper was looking very good last nite. Whoever did his makeup did good and I liked his tie too...very nice color.
Where in the world was Anderson reporting from? I know he had a speaking engagement somewhere but something looked odd about the "studio" background - HE however, looked very good. It has also been good to hear Anderson doing one of his rare voice-over reports on 360 - it seems we have to wait for 60 Minutes to hear one of AC's own reports - he's got a unique style that I wish we were able to experience more of on 360. Gary Tuchman's report on the murdered man in Mexico was frightening - it's horrible what the drug gangs/cartels are putting innocent people through.
President Obama and the First Lady are quite attractive, IMO, but the rest of Barack's beauties paled in comparison to the beautifully pale Anderson Cooper when he was one of People's Sexiest - but as usual he didn't want to hear about it.
The Time 100 thing was good - I had to tune Suze Orman's segment out - she's entirely too annoying, but I did enjoy Bono/Clooney and AC and the View women - it was hard not to laugh when Anderson jokingly said his own staff gives him blank stares during meetings.
Was Anderson in LA last night? He'll be on the Tonight Show on Monday. Regardless of where he was I have to comment on those blue eyes! Be still my beating heart. And that tie and the background matched those eyes beautifully! Loved his interview with the women of the View. The giggles get me everytime. I'll go to the naughty chair now.
Ditto ACAnderFan and Aires Moon: There was just something about the boy last night - from what looked and sounded like a studio in someone’s garage – that made it impossible to look away. Wow!
Someone I know described his hair as looking like “silver glitter” glued to the sides of that “beautiful noggin.” Either the lighting or lack of it revealed the true color of his eyes, and without much make up, we were treated to actual Anderblushing, which was delicious.
I am headed now, to National Fangurl Bank, where I will hand over my first born as collateral for additional fangurl credits, having used up all my stash just now. Worth it!
The show itself was actually pretty good too. The Souter replacement is going to be interesting – I’m sure the (R)’s are girding their loins for at least an attempt at blocking anyone President Obama chooses. That’s one of ways the diminishing (R) Party can be useful, as entertainment filler.
Not sure why Gary Tuchman appeared to be in Mexico without a mask in these times. I’m sorry the pizza owner was killed. At least the piece highlighted the dismal failure of the US and Mexican governments to do anything at all to stem the tide of violence.
Not good news from Tom Foreman on which came first “sickness and death” or the egg. Yikes! I’m swearing off chicken for the duration. It now seems somehow un-American to eat the animals which may lay the eggs, which may incubate the vaccine which I – and you - may need all too soon.
I voted for W.H. writer John Favraeu! What a hottie! And, if Anderson keeps blushing like that on national TV, he could find himself back on People's list by next year.
Time 100, A Review in 30 Seconds: Loved the poster advertising the show! Put Anderson and Joy Behar in a booth in a classy restaurant, film the result and be crushed under ratings! Two middle aged stars and 15 minutes of self-congratulations is 14 minutes to long. Ted and T. Boone should be running the world, we’d be better off. Yaawn! Is it over yet? The only other comment to make is that the perfectly Disneyesque animatronic Anderson they had fronting the show was a stark contrast to the real, raw, gorgeous one we’d just spent an hour with. Which do you prefer? Me too!
My guess is Anderson was airing from Central Connecticut State Univ where his speech was last night.
Why does Anderson's staff give him blank stares?
360 was good last night - great mix of coverage
the Time 100 special was a little weak - loved seeing Bono and Clooney but could have done without the Suzi Orman thing - if there are 100 people on the list I am sure they could have focused on people who are influental and doing something much more productive in society - thats just my 2 cents worth
Aries Moon, Anderson did a voice over report 4 pout of the 5 nights this week and I agree with you, it is very nice and rare. Hopefully he will start to do this more since he did so many last week. They were all about the Swine Flu and were on at the beginning of the show.
I have to say, I wasn't to impressed with the special, but did enjoy Anderson's interview with the women from "The View"
I too, would like to know where he reported from last night. He had to be pretty close to where he spoke, since he had time to do his voice over, unless he did it before he went to do the speech.
Gary's piece was very good, but disturbing.
I loved Anderson's reaction to Miss California. The breast implants is a non story, but it was good seeing his reaction to it.
I also enjoyed Sanjay's report from the CDC. I think this was quite a "get" for him, as I have ot seen anyone else reporting from there.
@Aries moon, I don't know where he was last nite either, because like you said the "studio" did look odd. He did look fantastic last nite though.
I'm liking the voice overs we've been getting from him this week. I live his style and I still wish he'd write something again. Either another book or something like the articles he wrote for details.
Would you like to bet that the screen with the "studio" like graphics was a big screen borrowed from the university and a laptop loaded with software from the 360 control room? The lighting was exceptional in that we got to see the blue eyes for once. On my flatscreen at home, they look hazel or muddy for some reason.
Being an off-site broadcast, the show did have a leaner flow, a much needed change, less wasted time on fluffy stuff.
I wish Erica would stop her sophomoric attempts to embarrass humiliate confuse the man. It is really getting old. Maybe it's a Yankee thing, for girls to torture boys like that.
Didn't watch the Time 100 special as even the prospect of seeing Bono and Clooney chat for a few minutes wasn't enough to tear me away from "House" reruns. It's the blue eyes of Greg House, okay? I'm a sucker for blue eyes.
My guess at to why the staff stares at him blankly-
who wouldn't????? D'oh!
Anderson WAS at Connecticut Univ. last night, in their Media Center studio. See article by Carole Flynn at Literary Intinerary/typepad.com/carole_flynn
Very nice review of her pre-speech conversation with "Just call me Anderson, Please" at dinner before the event. She was seriously smitten!
@ACAnderFan and anon 11:58, whenever Anderson doesn't name check the reporter before running a particular story, my ears always perk up because I know it means he's going to do it himself and this has been a good week for that - not to make light of the swine flu outbreak, however.
@M in Oregon, "silver glitter" - what a perfect description...ha! National Fangurl Bank - I think I'm overdrawn there too, but man, did he look amazing last night.
Erica and the 360 staff probably know how far to push the teasing/embarrassment stuff with Anderson - they know he's got the power to crush all of them like grapes if they get too out of hand. ;)
Then again, Erica WAS back on the dreaded Obama-watch beat last night, hmm...wonder why? ;)
Anderson did look great last night, his eyes were bluer and his skin looked better, don't know if that's because of the lighting or the make-up or atmospheric conditions or what.
Most of the show was excellent - bonus points to Jeffery Toobin and Gary Tuchman. However, when Anderson talked to 'The View' women I had to change the channel, i've never been a fan of Barbara Walters but Joy Behar isn't too bad. I didn't know Behar was interviewing Ann Coulter on Larry King until the show was mostly over, if CNN repeats it this weekend I'll definitely watch.
Beauty pagent contestants who have breast implants - is that really news? There should be two sets of beauty pagents, one for contestants who have never undergone invasive procedures and one for contestants who've had any plastic surgery, implants, Botox etc..
Same with baseball - one league for steroid users and one league for everyone else.
Jaanza
I forgot to add this piece of breaking news:
According to Dyoder in the Letterman newsgroup, Dr. Sanjay Gupta will be a guest on the Late Show with David Letterman on Tuesday, May 5.
Haven't seen any other confirmation of this yet.

My guess is the same as one commenter. He was in some studio connected to the university, with a 360 back drop and graphics.
It's all in the lighting ladies. There also might have been a fine filter on the lense for all we know. I don't think it would hurt to say AC is reporting from the campus studio. While I understand saying he's in NY, they have to take precautions, but if we already know in advance, it's a little silly not to say where, after the fact.
Did not bother to watch the special because I didn't think it was special. IMHO, Joy Baher is not an important person and I really could care less what she or Barbara Walters thinks....and we all know Sherry thinks the world is flat so why bother. Unless AC is interviewing someone really important, like Obama, who can actually change our lives, celebrityville is to be watched on E.
I'm convinced that one really big mistake CNN is making, is relying to heavily on AC to bring in its ratings. One person, no matter how large the fan base, can get over exposed very quickly. Viewship is fickle and even though I watch "certain live events," because AC is hosting them, I'm not going to waste my time on things that are totally irrelevant, like "Time Magazines One Hundred Influential People."
I'm beginning to think that Anderson is being over "used" to make up for their lack of creativity and talent.
Fox can fall back on other people if Bill O'Reilly backs out. Who can CNN fall back on?? Fox has Hannity and Chris Wallace at least. I don't like them, but they are there. CNN has no one, but AC.
I wasn't able to watch 360...again but Anderson looked really really good in those pics. Sad I missed a good show w/extra hot Andy.
I'm going to go out on a limb here, because I know that many will disagree, but there are times when it looks as though AC is wearing blue eye liner on his lower lids. It is possible that a make-up artist could be experimenting and men have been known to have this done when on televison, especially now with HD..
just for enhancement.
Anon @ 7:23--you think Anderson is being overused?
That is an understatement if ever there were. Those of us who have been around forever have watched CNN's media blitz surrounding him with dread, suspicion and fear for his safety. The exposure he has endured for sake of the network has endangered his life, curtailed his ability to move about freely, restricted his ability to pursue a life.
Were he not such an humble, intelligent, hard working, etc, etc, person, he wouldn't have lasted as long as he has.
No, he cannot be replaced. As an old silent movie once captioned, "what price glory?" That is for him to decide. As much as we like those blue eyes and that silly laugh, don't think this will last forever. He has built up an impressive portfolio that will open any door he chooses to walk through when he feels the time is right. Not any producer, president, head honcho or whomever will be able to tell him no when he decides it's time to leave. He may not realize this fact just yet, but he will.
So let us enjoy this impressive man while we can.
No particular reason for this note.
Reality check, maybe.
@ Viewer in Virgina: "the exposure he has endured for the sake of the network," for give me, but he had a choice, did he not? And he got a very sizable contract for that exposure. Then he "edured more exposure" on R&K, Letterman, Jay Leno, and 60 Minutes. You make it all sound as though he wasn't enjoying every single minute of it.
And let's not forget the photo shoots, along with the adoration. Oh my, what torture!
Viewer in Virginia makes an interesting point, and I think it begs the next question, at some point in time, if & when Anderson does decide to take a hiatus from the News or CNN be it permanently or otherwise, or opts to walk away from the News Business entirely to try his hand at something else other the TV News, what then becomes of his fan base? Will y’all continue to watch CNN as “Closely” as y’all do right now while Anderson is on Air?
As for all you hard-core News junkies, no need to answer. It just makes me wonder as to where Anderson sees himself in say 5 to 15 years, and by then he’ll be between 45 and 55 years, and if he is out of the News Business, then what, what really makes him tick, and what avenue would he try his hand at? Would he redefine himself in to a Journalist of another kind (like Barbara Walters) and I don’t mean being a Talk Show Host, but something with less structure and more “environmentalist-like” the likes of Ted Turner? It’d be interesting to watch him reinvent himself or try his hand at something new, and what’s makes it more exciting is it’d be someone of our own generation, not someone who has been around since the dawn of day! I’d be fascinated by the transformation, if there were any!
