When I saw the promos for 100 Most Influential I totally missed that it was Time Magazine who put the list together. So, after 10 minutes of watching George Clooney and Bono chit-chatting, I thought how are they going to cram 100 people in 1 hour. Only then did I realize they had picked a few to highlight and you can catch the rest in the magazine.
First up was Bono interviewing George Clooney. I thought it was a cute when Bono thanked George for not being more popular than himself in his native Ireland. CNN has posted that interview HERE. Next up was business guru Suzy Welch interviewing Suze Orman. Probably the most interesting statement Suze said was "There is the difference, my methods has always been the same essentially. Now people want to hear what I'm finally saying. They didn't want to hear it before." Sprinkled throughout the special were quotes about the influential honorees from celebrities (Michael Moore talking about Bernie Madoff, Alec Baldwin talking about Tina Fey, etc.)
Anderson did interview the ladies women of The View. The part where they use Anderson as an example of someone they might not be interested in talking about was cute. Anderson, the next time your staff looks at you awkwardly in meetings come on over to ATA, we'll never look at you that way. Thanks to Sapphire here is a snippet of that interview.
The final segment was a conversation between Ted Turner and T. Boone Pickens talking about green energy. I liked Pickens honesty when he said he was a energy man and was into wind farms for the money and not because he wants to go green.
Someone mentioned in comments yesterday that they thought Anderson was doing Friday's live show from the University. Ding, Ding, Ding. They were right. M in Oregon sent us this comment: "Anderson WAS at Connecticut Univ. last night, in their Media Center studio. See article by Carole Flynn at http://literaryitinerary.typepad.com/carole_flynn/ Very nice review of her pre-speech conversation with "Just call me Anderson, Please" at dinner before the event. She was seriously smitten!"
It was mentioned earlier that Anderson was going to be on Jay Leno Monday, May 4th. Well, Sanjay Gupta is going to be on Letterman Tuesday, May 5th. Thanks to Jaanza for the tip. I wonder if he'll be talking about swine flu.

Finally tonight, since Erica made Anderson blush when she mentioned him being on People Magazine's sexiest man list back in 2005 I thought I'd repost the clip of Erica's segment on the subject when the magazine was released.
All Things Anderson is a blog dedicated to CNN's AC360 and its host Anderson Cooper.

I wasn't impressed with Time 100 special. It didn't hold my attention. I did laugh when AC said he gets awkward looks at 360 staff meetings. I would never give him an awkward look. He can bounce ideas off me all day...LOL!
Loved the clip of Erica teasing Anderson about being one of People Magazine's sexiest men alive. Anderson is so cute when he gets embarrassed. Maybe one day he'll be sexiest man alive, although us Anderfans already know that he is.
Thank you Sapphire for your interview with the ladies of The View. It was evident that your movie equipment was giving you a hard time.
It was mentioned in the blog that AC was supposed to give his lecture live, so the question is: Why wasn't it done?
Looking back at photos from early, 2005, I like the more mature anderson. How come men get better looking with age and women, well, don't?? Now is that fair?
I hope we get more of a recap and photos from someone at the University lecture. Wasn't he also supposed to do Penn State?
Some ATA commentors made me reconsider my opinion about AC's interVIEW - I was a little annoyed with Barbara Walters talking about how "hard" they were on John McCain and how all of them were so quick to say they wanted him back on the show - for what? To grovel and apologize? As far as I'm concerned they weren't hard enough on him.
What can we do to get 360 to be broadcast each night out of Connecticut U's Media Center? They sure did something right on Friday night.;) I read Carole Flynn's completely on target assessment of Anderson earlier - she described perfectly the reasons why I admire this man.
So why hasn't Anderson made People's Sexiest list since 2005? Maybe it's too frivolous for a newsguy, but hey, he DOES co-host Regis & Kelly occasionally, so frivolity shouldn't be too big of a problem for him. ;)
I concur with Aires Moon on the subject of Anderson's "look" as broadcast from the University Media Center. As I said before it was "real, raw and gorgeous" and "bears repeating", as singer Joss Stone has famously put it.
On People's inexplicable failure to select Anderson repeatedly, I recommended on the blog that he "blush like that more often" to ensure a reconsideration of their ommission. Of course, he may do that now but, on the made-up, sanitized, studio perfected Anderson, it just doesn't show.
Thanks, Quitty, for the shout-out. Carole Flynn spoke for so many; those who've been priveleged to meet this inestimable man, and had their lives changed in the process; and those of us whose hope is to one day do so.
I'd like to recommend the commentary of Viewer in Virginia (both of them) on yesterday's blog, and particularly the speculation at 2:23 pm on potential changes in Anderson's future. Well said, Virginia; even though the thought of losing daily access to this amazing, compelling man is something I care not to comtempate - at all.
Thanks for that clip, it's still fun to watch!
I also don't understand why Anderson hasn't made the cover of the Sexiest Man Alive issue, the people at People clearly have eye problems, lol!
I have a question for Phebe and Kay Jones – what ever happened to all of the Suggestions that were proposed by the numerous bloggers on this site? Are any of those suggestions actually being considered or used to make improvements to the AC360 Program?
@Aries Moon – 3.43 am – on several occasions, it’s crossed my mind you & I may have been sisters from a previous life. It just amazes me, how on so many occasions you and I have had the same thought, disposition or take on many an issue raised on this Site, and you’ve on many an occasion have acknowledged and indicated likewise in your Posts. Unbelievable, scary and interesting all at the same time.
I got to say, I agree with you with reference Walters indicating she’d like to have McCain back for an Interview. It’s just unbelievable to watch how some Journalists seem to think they need to apologize for holding Public Officials accountable, people like McCain for all the stupid stunts his Campaign, his party and his supporters & McCain himself, tried to pull during the Campaign. What does it really say them as Journalists? Makes one wonder?
Thanks for clips. The second clip was so cute. I love how embarrassed Anderson got, especially when he asked how long the segment was.
I’ve come to the conclusion, unless there is Major Breaking News of some sort, the AC360 Team is trying to keep the News coverage on Fridays on the lighter side. I’ve noticed that they’ve done this for a couple of weeks now, which is nice. It allows for a slow transition in to the weekend. I like it. Friday’s coverage was great and I thought they did a fair job with the Time 100 special. Though I must say, I am a tad surprised that they did not Interview any “unknown” who made the list. It would have had a better touch if they had larger assortment of individuals who made the list, some of whom were “not so famous” or unknown?
I think everyone who participates on this blog should write to People Magazine and ask them to put him back on the list! Btw I saw him at CCSU on Friday and he is even more gorgeous in person than he is on tv!
Heidi Collins will never be out of work. Should CNN decide she is not needed any longer she can always make "naughty chairs" for the ATA fangurl worshipers. Of course I'm joking, but there are enough of us here and beyond to keep her in business for a very long time.
I for one, do not think it is appropriate to put a serious minded journalist on the cover of a pop culture magazine like People..but then I don't think he should have "wasted" his time interviewing the ladies of The View. Do we really care what they think?
I heartily agree that Anderson should be on People Magazine's Sexiest / Most Beautiful list every year. Although I don't see their list every year, i don't think they often have the same people, I mean. how often has George Clooney or Brad Pitt been on it?
Anderson's photo from 2005 is still stunning.
Jaanza
@ anon 2:32 pm - wow, sisters in a previous life or perhaps a parallel universe? (I'm weirdly fascinated with that concept - but admittedly I've watched too many Twilight Zone episodes!). Either way, it's nice to come across like-minded people - something not always easy to find. And I totally agree with your comment about the sometimes questionable behavior of journalists. It is their responsibility to be truthful about the actions of politicians and NOT be apologists for them.
@anon 2:49 pm - I have the feeling that AC himself would object to being included in the People's Sexiest list, although he more than qualifies for it - I've always thought that Anderson was far more atractive than all of those tired "Hollywood Hunks" put together.
@aires moon: I too felt a certain "kinship," with you as well, but it was only during the campaign. We don't agree on other issues, like AC.
anon: 6:20pm....but any time you care to rant about Palin coverage, let me know.
That People magazine shoot with Anderson is just well..so hottt.Sorry about the fangurl there, but he can outshine all the Brad's Johnny's and George's any day,and not just because of his looks.
I love that photo from that issue.Have to admit I bought two copies of it!
As for having John McCain back on the View.I do not think they have anything to apologize to him for.
Was it his wife Cindy who made the comment that "they picked their bones" or something like that?Well,Cindy and John, it's a tough old world out there in political land,so if you can't take the heat get out of the kitchen as the saying goes. They should have been aware after all these years of what the show and these women were like, just by the Hot Topics segment alone. You would **think** they would be informed BEFORE going on anyway,or at least expecting some of the tough opinions and questions.
