Wednesday's AC360 again opened with 'Breaking News' in the Michael Jackson case. Randi Kaye reported from LA that Jackson's doctor is in danger of losing his Las Vegas home. You all know I'm not a fan of all the MJ news but Randi Kaye is really showing what a terrific reporter she is and how well she develops and works her sources. Digging Deeper tonight was with Jamie Floyd and Jeffery Toobin, who were in the studio with AC. I was a bit surprised that AC and the panelists had never heard about Michael's supposed love child. The young man spent a lot of time living at Neverland, as a child, with his mother according to the tabloid programs.
In a story related to the MJ case Dr. Gupta did some pharmacy shopping for narcotic prescriptions. As he said, the simple way to solve this problem is a national tracking system. President Bush proposed it but funding was never issued.
360 aired a portion of the press conference given by the 911 caller in the Gates/Crowley case. This led into a report, by Gary Tuchman, of a race war in Paris, Texas, between Whites and members of the New Black Panther Party.
Tom Foreman caught us up on the progress of health care reform. It looks like any final compromise will have to wait until September. When Congress heads home in August I'm sure they'll get an earful from their constituents. Candy Crowley then talked with AC about the reality of the health plan and answered a viewer's text question.
The tanning bed story was next up, with Dr. Sanjay Gupta. If you watched AC on Regis & Kelly this morning, you know that they discussed it too. Take the time to watch the host chat (posted below) and you'll see they embarrassed Anderson by showing his spray-on tan segment.
Erica Hill was at the 360 Bulletin desk and Beat 360 was back. Maybe we can still hope for the web cam to return too?
All in all it was a much better program than we've been getting, IMO. Still too much Michael Jackson for my taste, but a great bunch of reports followed the MJ updates.
Regis & Kelly: First we'll start with the host chat (tons of gratitude to Sapphire for the upload):
The only human guests for the program were the Bachelorette and her fiance. Usually it doesn't creep me out when celebrities tell AC they have a crush on him. This time it did, maybe because she was newly engaged and there with her man?
Here are a couple of screencaps from the ugly dog segment:
A few items of interest to share with you:
• Anderson will host the New Yorkers For Children 10th Annual Fall Gala on September 22. The event will be held at Cipriani 42 in New York City and will honor Mary J. Blige for her work in founding FFAWN, an organization that aims to help all women gain the confidence and skills they need to reach their full individual potential.
• Michael Ware will be a guest on HBO's Bill Maher show Friday night, this week. If you don't subscribe to HBO Cyn will have the highlight's of MW's appearance for you in the coming days.
• A reader sent us a link to an interview AC did with Brad Goldfarb. It's a lengthy q & a that was published by Interview in 2004.Good reading.
That's it for me tonight. Another appearance for Anderson on Regis & Kelly tomorrow, and we'll have it covered for you. Hope to see you back here soon. ~Phebe

Anderson on R&K this morning was really good. We seem to learn new things about him everytime hes on. You need to post screencaps of his face when the tissue box comes from the ceiling.
She called him a momma boy because she could see he was writting ketchup. I kinda see why she said that but I can't explain it.
When he ask that question to Jillian Harris, I was like "good lord Anderson were your tact?". I thought he be talk about big time on the blogs and actually they thought it was cool that he ask the question because a lot of people have been wondering.
The calling portion of the show was funny as usual. Anderson suprised by the big wheel.
I love that Anderson held 2007 winner of the ugliest dog competition.
I hope tomorrows show really good too.
I did a lot of channel surfing in the first 20 minutes of 360 and played a game in my mind called "If I Was in Charge of 360."
First, I'd put the health care debate and its political wranglings, with Candy Crowley, Tom Foreman and Daivd Gergen and then a segment with the text questions.
Second, more information about Ms. Whalen's public statement and what has happened to her since calling the police on Professor Gates.
Third, Gary Tuchman's report on Paris, Texas.
Fourth, a full-blown report about making it illegal to text while driving (instead of two sentences in The Bulletin).
Maybe one seegment mashing together all the Michael Jackson crap.
I don't know what to do with Sanjay Gupta's report on doctor/pharmacy shopping. It was well-done but I swear I've seen it before, huge deja vu throughout his report.
I would have included the rollerskater/rollercoaster guy at the end of second Bulletin and make The Shot a clip from Anderson hosting Regis & Kelly.
I don't have time to watch the R & K clips right now but thanks a big bunch for posting them.
Question - Can Anderson turn his CNN interview with Roxana Saberi into a segment for 60 Minutes?
Apparently I didn't miss much regarding R&K. I only saw the first 20 minutes and the clips I saw on here, weren't that good. Anderson eating the hot dog was cute, though.
Its apparent this Michael Jackson coverage is never going to end. I can't even be bothered to pay attention to it. Surely there are more pressing things going on than this.
Dr.Gupta's piece was pretty interesting. I like most of his pieces though.
360 last nite was better than its been all week. So they are improving.
On R&K Anderson said he was off to South Africa this weekend to work on a 60 Minutes piece, I guess that means we'll be Anderless next week or at least part of next week...
Phebe: Thanks for uploading or is it downloading the rest of R&K. It would have been nice if AC actually brought his own dog to the set or even if we saw a recent snap shot, since the theme is dog week.
Again MJ was featured first. Personally I think Larry King asked the foremost question on everyone's mind. What responsibility did Michael play in his own death? Since you can't prosecute a dead person, wasn't it HE that was the instigator and went "doctor shopping?"
Love seeing Marsha Clark after all these years on LKL.
Sanjay Gupta's piece on the pharmacys was interesting, but none of the "narcotics" were illegal so what was the point? If someone is so inclined, as Michael was to "overdose," the government has no right to stop it. Where does human responsibility come into this picture? Michael Jackson was well aware of the drugs' dangers and side effects. You can't self regulate ALL human behavior. He was his own worst enemy. As one of the guest's remarked, "He was a tortured soul."
Please CNN, let it go. I know LKL and 360 are hitting a million, but Greta is hitting 2 million plus. The writing is on the wall. Read it.
I likee 360 today...a nice mix from yesterday and last week.
Thanks for those clips; I wasn't able to catch it.
Is it possible to post the dog segment? I was looking forward to that...
Thanks so much for uploading the R&K segments. I thought it was funny. And Anderson has seen a picture of Kelly in her prom dress b/c I remember him showing the picture of him w/an African tribe leader during that show. I still can't believe he just asked Jillian Harris outright how many of those guys she slept with.
As for 360...since I've decided to accept the MJ coverage and just ignore it, the show overall wasn't too bad. I enjoyed Dr. Sanjay Gupta's segments as usual. For some reason, I forgot what he said about Georgia specifically, so if anyone remembers, can you please let me know? Thanks!
I'm really curious to know what story he will be doing for 60 Minutes. I'm sure it'll be good like the others (and much better than 360's been lately).
It's a huge disappointment that the country probably won't be getting the type of health care reform it deserves and the Obama Administration hasn't done the best job of explaining the in's and out's so that the public would get a good sense of what will happen.
Gary Tuchman's report from Paris, Texas was pretty disturbing. The post-racial dream in the wake of Obama is just that, a dream.
The Shot itself didn't interest me but it was funny how Erica put AC on the spot about wearing a helmet when he rides his bike. I've seen photos of him bike riding in Manhattan and he was wearing a Nike cap - not good AC.
I was pretty surprised on R&K when AC bluntly asked Jill the Bachelorette how many guys she slept with on the show - that's so unlike him - I know it may have offended people - Jill's fiance didn't look too happy about it, but it was kind of funny to witness Anderson being so direct and well, rude. I loved Jill's "mama's boy" line to AC - she had to get him back I guess. There must've been a reason for not showing clips from R&K on 360 like they usually do - I have a feeling AC was a little embarrassed by his "attack" on Jill!
NeNe must be a little disappointed that AC was unaware of the ATL Housewives start date - I'm guessing he's found something a lot more interesting to occupy his time than watching trash tv.
It will be interesting to see what the subject of the 60 Minutes piece is that AC said he'd be doing in South Africa.
In my ridiculously long post I still managed to forget that the only part of the MJ coverage I liked was when Anderson bluntly (again!) said that no one made less sense than Joe Jackson. Truer words have never been spoken.
Thank you for the R&K clips! I read many tweets about the interview with the Bachelorette, but seeing it for myself was of course better, lol.
Oh and the pic of Anderson with that "ugly" dog is cute!
The show was ok. I haven't watched in a while, so even the MJ news was really news to me, haha.
I've never been on (under?) a tanning bed and now I will certainly never start doing it! Yikes!
@aires moon: Yes, there is someone who makes less sense than Joe Jackson, and her name is Sarah Palin.
360 was indeed much better Wednesday night than it has been, and I was highly amused at the segment that degenerated into making fun of Joe Jackson. I got the impression AC is sick of the MJ story, too--"You mean you're not here for love of talking about this?"
Gary Tuchman's piece was great, and I appreciated the fact that they used the MJ coverage to do a more in-depth story about prescription drug abuse in this country--good job, 360. I understand the need for a national database, but I think the privacy concerns are very valid...should we make it easier for people's medical privacy to be breached and punish the masses for something that a minority of people are attempting to do, in obtaining controlled substances illegally?
Jillian called him that because she has a theory about what a man puts on his hot dog and what it says about him, which is the reason they asked the question. Ketchup alone says "mama's boy." I forget what mustard alone says, but I think it's pretty positive hence all the excitement when she and Ed matched. I think relish meant he was artistic, and then she had theories for a bunch of other toppings and all the combinations...it was odd, but cute. The show may be silly but I like her.
@Aries Moon: "There must've been a reason for not showing clips from R&K on 360 like they usually do - I have a feeling AC was a little embarrassed by his "attack" on Jill!"
Actually, I think when he does two days in a row they usually wait until after the second show to pick out the best moment for The Shot. I'm just going on my dreadful memory, though. :P
Thanks for clipping the show, Phebe! You rock. <3
"Yes, there is someone who makes less sense than Joe Jackson, and her name is Sarah Palin."
Nice burn, Judy. ;)
@Judy, how strange that you mention Sarah Palin because I was thinking the same thing the other night. She and Joe Jackson are obsessed with being in the public eye - both are completely incoherent and would make the perfect pairing for the Road Show From Hell. :P
@Laurie Beth - you were right about The Shot! Thanks for the clarification :)
Thank you ladies for all of your hard work on this blog!
@aires moon: How about a new reality show in prime time about all the best "parenting skills" from those in the know? Sarah could be the host and Joe the perfect guest. Killer ratings! Who needs Jon or Kate??
now i feel like a creep ..why thanks
