President Obama, Anderson, Africa...Amazing!

Tonight we bring you a recap of President Obama's African Journey. Lets begin with the puzzle. The puzzle is the result of a composite that formed as I was clipping pictures. Although purely accidental, I thought it was interesting and might make for a challenging puzzle. I also liked the emotion reflected in Anderson's face as he toured the dungeons at Cape Coast Castle. By all accounts, this tour is a moving experience for people regardless of their heritage.

It seemed to me that most of the special was shown during the week. Personally, I still prefer watching the entire program in one sitting. I think the special was a perfect example of how Anderson's ability to tell a story loses impact when it's chopped into tiny little bits. Overall, I thought the special was good and that several of the reports where fascinating and gut wrenching. Here are a few samples I thought were especially impactful.

And to start your week off right, here a few more pretty pictures...

Last but certainly not least....

Thanks for posting the clips, I wasn't able to watch the special.

Happy Birthday Erica! I hope AC and the 360 crew would have a surprise for Erica during the show.

The 360 special that was on this weekend was really good. I wasn't expecting much. I figured it would just be a rehash of everything we've already seen, but it was really good. Anderson is at his best when out in the field and telling a story. He has such a unique was of telling a story. I liked his wrap up at the end. His reporters notebooks are usually pretty good.

Love all the pretty pictures. The third from last is my fave.

The parts of the special that I hadn't seen previously on 360 were really well done, "The Middle Passage" felt like something right out of the History Channel and was very disturbing to watch - the illustrations of how the slaves were chained together and crammed into tight groups were horrific - this report was a chilling account of the slave trade and how its impact still lingers. I also liked AC's Wrap Up of the trip - it was clear that Ghana, its people, culture and history left a strong impression on him. It's a good thing that CNN/AC360 continues to do specials like this one regardless of whatever ratings they bring in.

Thanks for the pics - I really like the fourth photo of AC.

Photos of Anderson should be in museums. How can any man be so magnetically gorgeous? Not meaning to detract from the seriousness of his subject, but honestly, all I can focus on in the pictures is him.

I was traveling this weekend and missed the special; thanks for posting the clips. I especially liked the "Wrap Up", a now rare moment of insight and reflection from AC.

I wonder if Anderso is going to be on or is there going to be a sub in for him. I hope all is well with Anderson. I heard him coughing the other night. Maybe he just needed sometime off after his trip to Africa. I hope he went to get his eye checked I know it wasn't that bad but it was still his eye. I mentioned to him to get it checked but he probably just brushed it off to no big deal. But did he know for sure what bit him and what it had in it's vetum. he should get his eye checked. o.k.I know he's a grown man.sorry, I'm ranting I'll stop.I just hope all is well, with Anderson

Sanjay Gupta got the short end of the stick here. His portion of the documentary wasn't even promoted and yet it said so much, in that every child needs a hug, no matter the race. He may not have gone to Africa along with AC, but he did document his journey and it was well done.
@Michellenmolita: I know you have your opinion, and I agree that AC is a handsome man, but to actually say he should be in a "museum" is a little much and diminishes what he does. JMO

Thanks for the post. I watched the special and really enjoyed it. Although I had seen many of the segments throughout the week on 360, I liked seeing the whole thing together and the additional segment on the "Middle Passage" was well done, but my favorite part was the wrap up at the end, with the photos and Anderson's voice over. He seemed very touched by what he witnessed on the trip -- the horrible history of Cape Coast Castle, and at the same time the warmth and friendliness of the people of Ghana.

I hope Anderson is able to do more of these specials -- This is Anderson Cooper at his best as a journalist.

Thanks for posting the clips and the beautiful photos --

Sounds like Anderson may be away from 360 this week on a well deserved vacation.
