Hi, everyone! It's Tedi B. here subbing for Sapphire tonight. I'm gonna blog using the bullet point method tonight. It's Friday and I'm just ready for the weekend.
Erica is sitting in for Anderson again tonight.
Here we go....
-The Obama's touch down in Accra, Ghana. President Obama will speak with Anderson and others while there. He also met with the the Pope in Italy today
-Erica checked in with Anderson who is in Elmina, Ghana waiting to meet with Pres. Obama. Anderson also talked about different castles and dungeons where they kept slaves before their horrible journey to the new world. The Obama's will also be visiting one. Looks like a horrible place. See Clip of this below
-In "Breaking News" a Jackson insider speaks out. Randi Kaye reports on a former friend of Michael Jackson's who said he barely weighted enough and was out of shape... that he couldn't handle the reported 50 shows that were sold out.
-The custody of Michael Jackson's children continue to play out on July 20. Erica spoke with Jim Moret about the custody hearing. There is much speculation that their mother Debbie Rowe and the Jackson's will work out their own agreement. Joe Jackson continues to speak out and basically be a general "ass".
-In Uncovering America, Sanjay Gupta talks with Erin Brockovich about America's worst ecological disaster. Coal Ash was spilled into a Tennessee lake... more than a 100 times more of a spill than the oil from the Exxon Valdez. The effects of this are not really known but people around the lake are having health problems. How many people will have to die before the Valley Authority will admit there really is a problem with the spill?? That's always the way it is.
-Anderson is back and talking about the Cape Coast Castle where slaves were held before they went to the new world. Donna Brazile discussed her visit there.
-More news on the Polygamist Sect vs the Drug Cartel in Mexico. The Cartels are kidnapping their family members and now killing some of them because they spoke out against them.
Here are AC's Tweets for those that don't follow Tweeter....
*From ac: just arrived in ghana. A lot of excitement here about Obama's trip. Everyone wants to see him. I'll be tweeting all weekend.
*From ac: ghana is cool. Accra, the capitol is bustling with energy. Posters welcoming Obama are everywhere. It's great to be back in africa.
And before I go, my post title is in hopes of a great show on Monday! Have a great weekend.

Joe Jackson may have been behind Michael's early success, but from what we've seen lately, he needs to stay in the shadows for the duration of his life, and if Jesse Jackson and Al were smart and wanted their political careers to remain in tact, they'd stay far away from him. His anger and jealousy is evident and I believe everything Michael has said about his childhood beatings. Having a parent who consistently "used him," more than likely, lead to his own self destruction.
Looking forward to an in depth interview with President Obama...something that is stimulating, one on one and more than the usual 360 hype.
I don't know what it was but I could not get into last nite's 360 at all. It didn't hold my attention at all. The two times Anderson was on were about the only parts of the program I remember. I like when Erica fills in, I just couldn't get into the show.
I am however really looking forward to monday's show. Can't wait to see Anderson's interview with President Obama. I like Anderson's interview style.
Anderson looked so exhausted during the program tonight, which I guess is to be expected since it was about 2 AM their time during the broadcast.
I'm very excited to see what Anderson does with the interview Obama, hopefully it doesn't disappoint.
hi there did anyone else get the tweet from Anderson that he got bit on his left eyelid by something last night? He said he swelled practically shut all day but now that the swelling has gone down. He then tweeted that he was going to sleep with the lights on from now on. Man that just sounded like it hurt. hOPEFULLY ALL IS WELL WITH ANDERSON WHEN HE GETS BACK HOME, DON'T WANT HIM SICK OR ANYTHING.
Poor Coop. He said he had taken a picture as was going to post it to the 360 blog. I can't imagine what it will look like.
I hope he doesn't have anymore issues.
Look foward to Monday night.
I have not seen anythig about a special tonight. Wasn't there suppose to be one at 8 tonight?
Thank you
Anyone worried that the confirmation hearings of Judge Sonia Sotomayor will overshadow AC's interview with the POTUS?
@Jaanza, we received the info from several readers and Quitty will post the information tonight. Thanks.
Gosh I sincerely hope not Phebe, CNN has spent a lot of time and resources promoting President Obama’s first trip to a Sub-Saharan African Country and Anderson’s exclusive Interview with the President on African soil, and his visit to the slave dungeons, I sincerely hope CNN don’t minimize the significance of this trip, even if it was just for a day and a half. As important as the confirmation hearings are, on Sotomayor, as they will impact Americans for years to come if confirmed, I also believe the President’s trip to this democratically elected Country is also very significant, especially in today’s political climate on that Continent.
Let’s keep our fingers crossed CNN can balance both subject matters on Monday and Tuesday.
@ ACAnderFan - Me either.
I'm just waiting for the Sunday puzzle.
what's up with the Jaanza comment, Phebe? What are you talking about?
Poor Anderson. Didn't his small basal cell happen when he interviewed Obama before he was President? I hope his swollen eye didn't prevent him from interviewing or seeing the POTUS.
With his sensitive skin he has to take better care of himself. Africa's climate is humid and sticky and prone to insects of all kinds.
I couldn't get into Friday night's show except for the Anderson appearances, and especially the one dispatch that included Donna Brazile. I thought it amazing to hear her perspective on Cape Coaat Castle.
And, yes, Anderson looked tired -- the time change, plus he had tweeted that he worked on filming stories all day and was writing quesitons to ask Obama until 4am -- then this morning work up with his eye almost swollen shut! If you haven't seen the "Twitter" posts, they are priceless. I'm sure they will be on the AC360 Blog on Monday. I especially liked the one about President Obama dancing in front of his wife and daughters -- off camera.
Poor Anderson seems to have quite a time with his "big" interviews -- the Angelina Jolie plane incident and now the swollen eye with President Obama. I did see a bit of his Obama interview on CNN tonight -- they said more of it will be shown on State of the Union tomorrow morning. Looked pretty interesting.
For all the promotion -- lets hope this interview doesn't get buried! I'm really looking forward to the Monday and Tuesday night shows. Also, found the special on TIVO for next Saturday and Sunday and also, looks like AC will be on Letterman Thursday night -- probably to promote next weekend's special.
Aww poor Anderson, his left eyelid was bitten by an insect. It's a good thing it looked better by the time he interviewed the President. They posted a photo of him pointing at his swollen eyelid on the 360 blog. His eyelid doesn't look that bad, it's just a little red. I'm sure Erica will ask him about it when he gets back.
