Hello everybody. Long time no blog. Crazy last few weeks and tonight my computer cooperated but my television didn’t so I had to catch the second airing. I do apologize for the shortness of this post but I've got what you all are waiting for at the end of the post
President Obama spoke to the press core in the press room – he said he spoke with Officer Jim Crowley the arresting office who arrested Professor Gates. Honestly I haven't really been following this story but if the guy proved he owned the home the arrest seems stupid to me too.
Roland Martin, David Gergen and Professor Boyce Watkins join Anderson to talk about the president’s comments.
Anderson interviewed Srg. Leon Lashley who was at the scene of the arrest of Professor Gates

Another not so good 360. Seriously this past week has been bad for 360. The shows were just OK. I hope next week is much better.
Best part of 360 last nite was Michael Ware's 360 Dispatch. Always nice to see him on the program. I wish, however, that Anderson's follow up with him after the piece had been a little longer since Michael was in the studio with him.
I thought the shot was lame, but I don't like Harry Potter so that's probably why I didn't like it. The Andergiggles were cute though. So I guess anything that can get him laughing isn't too bad...
I love when Anderson Co-hosts R&K. I think its also dog week or something on that show, so it should be pretty good.
The President had to smooth things over regarding the Gates arrest but I still agree with his original statement - as President, he can't afford to be as blunt as he was, but I thought it was refreshing. The controversy also makes it clear why President Obama tends to avoid delving into the explosive issue of race. The African American police officer AC interviewed was in a tough spot, I don't believe he could honestly say what he felt about the incident since he works with Crowley and probably doesn't want to add to the tension.
The Shot was very funny - I thought Anderson was correct about one of the characters looking like Lou Dobbs - AND Chris Matthews for that matter. I know I heard AC say "what, what the hell?" when Erica revealed that he was that Fleur character - I don't think he liked being called "pretty" and his comments about how he couldn't understand what Erica was talking about when she was describing the HP saga cracked me up - I know nothing about Potter and can relate. I wonder if Erica was aware that "money shot" is one of those terms that has an infamous and risque alternate meaning just like "teabagging" does. Anderson certainly seemed to know it considering the look he had on his face when she kept repeating it.
There were a few new pieces in the pot report - I almost didn't watch because I thought it would be a complete rehash, so I'm glad I did watch it.
Two days of AC on R&K, great news. I know that some people think he diminishes the work he does by appearing on R&K, but it's something that I think he enjoys and I love when he co-hosts because we usually get a nugget or two of new info from him and we get to see him being funny - he's very quick witted and sarcastic.
Yes! I'd been waiting for that clip! Thank you, Sapphire!
Big props to Erica for being a Potter fan! (Though Dan Radcliffe just turned 20, Erica!) I seriously love those books, can't believe Anderson hasn't read them. He should get to that, they're awesome. His total confusion made for a very funny clip, though. :)
God bless Anderson, I didn't get anything Erica was saying, either. For once I didn't feel alone for not being an HP fan! For some reason I thought he was, but guess not.
I missed the pot special the first time around, so was glad to catch it this time. It was actually quite interesting. Medicinal marijuana is legal in our state and I support that. I've never indulged myself, but from what I've seen there is medical evidence that it is useful for certain conditions. In those situations, I think it should be between the doctor and patient what the best course of treatment is. It certainly seems to be less dangerous than many other so-called "legitimate" drugs like narcotics.
@aries moon - I almost forgot about the "moneyshot" thing - that cracked me up, even more so with Anderson's expression!! (Also LOL at your thought about the pot special being a re"hash"!)
That explains so much. Clearly Anderson is part veela and has bewitched us all with his magical powers.
@sydney, bwah! I don't know why 'rehash' was the word I used initially, because it was only AFTER I typed it that I realized what I was saying. Maybe I was stoned or something. ;)
it was a slow news day yesterday and that's why the arrest of Professor Gates got so much coverage - as I said before, if it had happened three weeks ago no one in the news would have paid any attention - and lame reports such as 'the house Michael Jackson might have lived in.'
Michael Ware's report was the best part of 360 last night, he should have been given more time.
The Shot was a little confusing because I don't know much about Harry Potter but it was fun. I sort of figured Anderson had to be in there and that's why Erica brought it up, though I didn't see much resemblence between Anderson and that Fleur character. Then again, I didn't think those others looked anything like Lou Dobbs.
Thanks for including that clip.
Anderson Cooper and Harry Potter, two of my favorite things come together! I thought the shot was really funny. And that character totally looks like Lou Dobbs.
@Susan...I was just thinking about Anderson being part veela. At least he doesn't have that awful French accent Fleur has in the books haha :).
Excited about a new week for 360 and AC on Regis and Kelly!
Thanks to all who didn't get one word Erica was saying. Not only am I NOT a Harry Potter fan, but she really annoyed me trying to be too cute for words. What was the point?
The President did have to smooth things over in regards to the Gates arrest because he should never have passed judgement in the first place. I know many Obama supporters that were really second guessing their choice and asking themselves, why? Hopefully he will think, really think, before he involves himself like this again. It reminds me of the 360 shot, just plain "stupid."
Glad to know others are not Harry Potter fans and didn't really get the "Shot" last night -- but Anderson's reaction was priceless and it Erica was clueless about "the money shot" Anderson certainly wasn't!!
I loved Michael Ware's segment last night -- the movie "Charlie Wilson's Ware" (Tom Hanks) was very good and I was glad to see Michael Ware explain the background in Afghanistan and how the US really dropped the ball there year's ago.
Looking forward to this next week of 360 -- hopefully Anderson is done vacationing for a few days and we will get a good week of 360 plus the Regis & Kelly guest hosting. It is "Dog Week" next week on R&K, so that should be good. I often wonder what happens to Anderson's dog when he travels so much. Dog's love to be with their people!
President Obama is naturally going to be more sensitive to Gates' situation because he's had similar experiences with the police as an African American man - it was a real and raw response that some found offensive and others like myself found to be right on target. The President's gesture of bringing Gates and Crowley together will be a good thing for the country.
And another thing, after coming out of 8 years of an administration which got us into a war under false pretenses, ran the Constitution through a shredder AND committed the illegal act of torture, anything President Obama has done or even will do in the future completely pales in comparison. What I've asked myself is "why" Americans allowed those two criminals to run the country for as long as they did.
As Bill Maher would say, "Having a beer together is soooo George Bush."
