The show started off talking about President Obama on his way to Copenhagen for the climate conference and the trouble they've been having reaching an agreement regarding global warming. On top of the economic troubles there's more difficulties with the healthcare bill as well. Democrats don't have the number of votes needed to pass the bill. James Carville and Bill Bennet joined Anderson to talk about the healthcare bill in depth. They also talked about the effect going to Copenhagen without getting a positive result will have on the President.
Next was the story of the rescue of an American held in Iraq for 10 months. There is new video of Special Forces rescuing Roy Hallums, an American contractor. Michael Ware had the report of his rescue and details of the horrible conditions he lived through. After the end of the ordeal he had lost 40 pounds. They had kept him in a cell sealed with concrete inside a farm house. A freezer had been pushed on top to hide the door. Every three days they would chip away the concrete to give him food. After seeing a proof of life video the soldiers acted quickly to rescue him. Michael Ware also talked about his own experience being kidnapped.
Erica Hill was next with the bulletin: Iraqi insurgents hacked into predator drones, Bengals receiver Chris Henry died after falling from a pick up truck, the Senate Banking Committee approved Ben Bernanke for a second term, and Santa was named a bad influence by an Australian health expert.
Next was the story of the custody battle over Sean Goldman and David Goldman not being allowed to take the child back to America after Brazilian courts had ruled that he should have custody rights. Adam Reiss was with Goldman on the flight and described how Goldman reacted to the day's events. Jeffrey Toobin was with Anderson and talked about how foreign courts rule in cases like these and the problem with the philosophy of consulting the child regarding where they want to be since if the child was kidnapped when they were young they are m0re likely to want to stay where they are. Sunny Hostin was also in the studio and thought that the child's opinion needed to be considered in the case because he is almost 10 years old.
Soledad O'Brien had the report of police officers charged in connection with the beating death of a Latino man in a small Pennsylvania community. Luis Ramirez was beat up by a group of teenagers and later died as a result. Two teens were charged with aggravated assault, reckless endangerment, and ethnic intimidation which is considered a hate crime. A jury however only found them guilty of the lesser charge of simple assault. Just before the teens were about to be released form prison the Justice Department charged them with a federal hate crime. They also charged police officers with coaching the teens to get their stories straight and to dispose of sneakers they were wearing during the crime. Jeffrey Toobin was back with Anderson to talk about the case further.
Next, here's a clip of Anderson taking the CNN Challenge.
Erica was back with the second bulletin of the night: a major drug lord was killed in Mexico, a Pakistani court ruled preventing the deportation of five men accused of planning terror attacks, and the Prime Minister of Italy was discharged from the hospital.
The shot tonight was of Sarah Palin wearing a McCain campaign sun visor with McCain's name blacked out. Palin says she didn't mean any disrespect to McCain but was trying to be incognito.

All Things Anderson is a blog dedicated to CNN's AC360 and its host Anderson Cooper.

The Goldman story is so sad. It is a disgrace that Mr. Goldman, the biological father, can't get his own son back. I want to see Obama intercede!
I loved the extra pictures-especially the one with Anderson making those big lips. He was very opinionated about plastic surgery. But, the best part of this week's AC visit to R&K was his Inbox reading of the hairy man e-mail. I really think he is much more comfortable than he was about co-hosting...he seems to be coming out of his shell...nice to see!
I am completely disappointed with Obamacare. If there is no public option, and it indeed looks as though there will not be, an all the pharmacutical companies got their way, we have to buy from them, even though THEY'VE OUTSOURCED drugs to China, and we buy them on the way back, for a lot more than it cost them to make,
where is the reform here???
This legislation means nothing now. We've haven't heard much about "pre-existing condition" allowances either lately. James
Carville looked as though he was
ready to admit there will be no passage of health reform this year.
On a lighter note, taking the CNN Challenge should not only revolve around AC. This is why CNN is fourth. They contiually put ALL their eggs in one basket. Anderson isn't. He's co-hosting another show and does 60 Minutes to keep all his options open, which is smart. But CNN continues ride on his coattails no matter what.
Gloria looks good, even without make-up, at her age!!
Michael Ware's piece about Roy Hallums was eye opening and interesting, and disturbing. It was interesting to hear Michael and Roy Hallums both talk about their experiences.
Loved Anderson doing the CNN challenge. Very amusing. He was giggling and having too much fun to think clearly. I love that he made excuses for not doing as good as he thought he should have.
360 was actually pretty good last nite. Why is it that it always seems to be really good in December. December is usually the best month for 360.
so many goodies just right before Christmas :D thank you so much!
Hello Julie !!!!! Hello friends!!
Happy Friday !!!!!
Due to time zone, yesterday I couldn't watch AC360. And from what I see I did not miss much.
But I wanted to ask a question that is getting inconvenient at the AC360 blog. The BEAT360.
It seems that there aren't people enough for that job and BEAT360 is totally abandoned.
- Last Friday (12/11/09) they didn't post any caption of bloggers;
- There are many days that there is no winner;
- And yesterday they posted just 23 captions and nothing else.
Bloggers spend time to participate in this fun follow-and they are without return. The producers ignored me totally when I asked to explain about it. Perhaps it would be there more fair when there was no chance to put the captions or to choose a winner, they do not post a photo on this day.
ATA could help about it, please!

I am Brazilian and I think Sean should stay with the father.
I just disagree that President Obama or Secretary os State Hillary intercede about that, and I don't like that President Lula (Brazil) to intercede in that case. This is a matter for justice.
Hi,
I am very grateful about the post every day about AC360 and the updates for R&K.
Not being able to watch the actual show when they pass or because I have no cable (both on this case.) I relay on the information each blogger to get me up to date.
I wish you all a very happy christmas, merry and all and a happy New Year.

P.s. my Internet is still so slow that I cannot see the clips completely.

I thought last night's 360 was really substandard and morbid. Whoever missed it missed nothing in my opinion. CNN is a national news network, and except for the health care issue, which had flat commentary, most of the stories aired by AC360 on Thursday were not national news. Whether some of the coverage was even news at all is debatable. When Anderson asked why shouldn't the American boy stay with his American father--that's a totally biased statement. And they are wasting a lot of minutes when they act like they're not even on the air. Looks like they no longer care about the show. I wish CNN would either create 360 anew or cancel, so viewers could watch Anderson on a decent program.
It seems like they're mixing it up a little more on 360 or that they've made a few changes, the interview with Michael Ware at the map/video desk, Anderson getting up and using the magic board on a nightly basis and the inclusion of the CNN Challenge - I like this and hope they're working on more things to make the show fresher and more interesting.
