Wednesday's AC360 was pretty much a follow-up on old stories. The Sweat Lodge, Haiti's government's lack of response, the jailed missionaries and the POTUS doing a Q & A. I guess everything old is news again?
Sweat Lodge Arrest
James Arthur Ray was taken into custody today for the Sweat Lodge deaths in Sedona, AZ. Gary Tuchman was in Denver and reported that Ray is in serious trouble with the law and his bond has been set at 5 million dollars.Jeffery Toobin was in the studio with Anderson Cooper to discuss the legal ramifications and they were joined on the phone by Beverly Bunn, who was in the sweat lodge the night of the deaths.
Missionaries Investigated
Karl Penhaul was back on the Baptist missionary story. Penhaul said that at first he believed this group from Idaho to be well intentioned, but naive. He has since, because of his investigation,
come to believe that the group new that what they were doing was illegal and they were actively working to circumvent the adoption system and laws of Haiti.Where is the Haitian Government?
Ludovic Comeau (professor at DePaul) and Joe Johns, on the ground in Haiti, talked with AC about the lack of response to the tragedy by the local government. Comeau said that many of the local officials have suffered great loss too and also there have been communication problems.
Joe Johns said the government is working on inoculations and identifying new orphans but the government is broke and can't do much without money.Raw Politics
Dana Bash reported on President Obama meeting with Democrats today in another Q & A. This one was as rough on the POTUS as when he faced the Republicans last week. Democrat Senators who are in tough races for reelection were picked to grill the President on what he is going to do differently.
The follow up discussion was with David Gergen and John Avlon.Kiran Chetry was back at the 360 News and Bulletin desk on Wednesday night. She tweeted tonight that she's handling the split schedule by napping when her kids nap and that she'd be with AC360for one more night this week.
• 3 American solders were killed in Pakistan today by a road side bomb
• Toyota cars should be taken to dealers for recall fixes asap
• Colin Powell is now in favor of repealing Don't Ask, Don't Tell
• Tweeting is not considered cool by teens
• Eric Holder is sticking by his decision to try Christmas bomber in a civil trail
• Iran launched a research rocket today
• NASA captured a picture of a cosmic collision
Here are a few extras for you tonight. First are Anderson's tweets from today:
Two new photos, courtesy of Wonz:

And a cute article that several readers sent us about Kathy Griffin having lunch with Anderson's mother, Gloria Vanderbilt. Or as Kathy calls her ...... Gloria freakin' Vanderbilt.
I was bored tonight and I'm sure my post reflects that, sorry. Nothing caught my attention except for Chetry. Maybe AC can steal her away from John Roberts? But then why would someone who co-anchors her own program settle for second fiddle? I guess the search goes on for a replacement for EH. The one person I'd love to see in that chair is Zain Verjee, but I believe she's now living in London and working for CNNi.
That's it for me this week. Enjoy your weekend everyone! ~Phebe

The story about church group who is accused of child trafficking just gets weirder and weirder. I don't think anyone in that group has a brain. If they were told what they were doing was wrong then why did the continue to do it and think they wouldn't get caught. Those people are idiots.
The Haitian government does need to do more regarding the earthquake. It seems like they really don't care. Then again are we really surprised. The U.S. government couldn't even handle Katrina. It seems like governments bail when some disaster strikes.
360 was OK last nite, but I could have done without the James Arthur Ray piece though. The shot was funny. Loved Anderson making fun of Snooki. I think he gets a kick out of making fun of her and Jersey Shore.
Nice find with the pics, Wonz :)
I like that everyday this week Anderson has been twittering. Hope he keeps it up, but I doubt it.
It is about time they did something about James Arthur Ray. He had no remorse. That is a Jury I'd like to be on.
I have come to the conclusion that AC is two different people. There is the studio Anderson and the field Anderson, and field Anderson wins. I know it's because of content or lack of it, but I found tonite's program, boring.
I also get the feeling that AC would like to trade places with Joe Johns and be reporting from Haiti.
I agree. The only interesting part of the program was Kiran. The down side of her, if there is one, is when there is a split screen, I can't take my eyes off of her and I'd hate to be the one who had to share the screen with her, even if it is AC.
A good variety of news stories on Wednesday's 360. I was a little surprised they started with the sweat lodge deaths but I guess it really was "Breaking News" and I liked Jeffrey Toobin's legal analysis.
I'm also really beginning to like Karl Penhaul and his reports about Haiti and about the missionairies. Don't think I've seen him before Haiti but I hope he becomes a CNN and 360 regular.
The Shot was baffling. I think most of us have heard of a show called "Jersey Shore" and someone on it named "Snooki" but the number of viewers who watch both "Jersey Shore" and 360 cannot be very big. I figured alot of regular 360 viewers might have been scratching their heads and wondering "Snooki?"
Agree Phebe, there was a lack of new stories on 360 last night, but I thought it more interesting than Tuesday. The sweat lodge story is a waste of air time. Those people are adults who made their own choices. Anderson has a negative bias when it comes to the Haitian officials. Joe Johns is doing good research and actually finding the facts; AC is just criticizing. He tried to negate the positive reports. I doubt if he's ever asked whether a president in the U.S. would work alongside rescuers after a disaster. He still hasn't asked why President Obama didn't visit Haiti after the quake. Also, The Shot was in poor taste--derisive. AC's not above reproach; he must not like it when people scoff at him.
Din't enjoy last nights show as much as Tuesday.
I wonder why the fact that Oprah helped make this James Arthur Ray famous has not been brought up. I would like to hear her thoughts on this current situation.
I agree with MichellenLomita. The shot was in poor taste. I wonder if Anderson even thought it through before he aired it and shot(no pun intended) off at the mouth. I thought the picture of a done up Snookie was nice. Why call her out and be negative? From my understanding, Snooki doesn't hold back on her responses to people. And now that this is on Twitter and, as of today, possibly on The Soup this weekend, a response may be soon to come. Let's see if Anderson will be able to deal with what he dished out. Maybe the Shot should continue showing cute the things that animals and babies do.
Let's see if Anderson will be able to deal with what he dished out.
I'm pretty sure Anderson's not hiding in a corner somewhere worrying about what Snooki might say about him!
@ aries moon...I'll give you that one. But until today, Anderson didn't care or at least care to comment about what the tabloids said about him.
Don't get me wrong. I HATE THAT SHOW...It's full of stereotypes(which is what MTV, VH1 and BET do best) and the "cast" deem themselves to be more important than they are.
I just always thought that Anderson was above "picking" on someone. I thought what he said about Lindsay Lohans mom was a bit harsh but I got where he was going with it. I don't know this time...
@Jazz, But until today, Anderson didn't care or at least care to comment about what the tabloids said about him.
We're not trying to gang up on you or anything, but AC has addressed falsehoods published in the tabloids and online before. One example was when he was on Conan and said some negative things about his fans. A lot of press picked it up and he did clarify what he meant to say as opposed to what he did say. There are more examples, that's just the first one that popped into my head. I’ve also know him to go on a talk show, like Regis & Kelly, and bring up the false information in the host chat in order to set the record straight.
He has always said he doesn't talk about his private life, and he has pretty much stuck to that. But when a something inaccurate is published that affects a subject he deems important he will try to correct it.
No probs Phebes... I don't feel ganged up on at all. And thanks for the info about him addressing things that arose where he did correct the situation. Sorry, I just found The Shot to be strange yesterday. Has that been done before? Maybe I don't watch enough but every one I've seen has been something cute or interesting off of Youtube. But whatever...it is what it is. I'm still a fan of the show. Off to get a bowl of ice cream and watch tonight's show. Want to know what's up with the missionaries.
@MichellenLomita: I couldn't agree with you more about our President's "NO show" when it comes to Haiti. I was the first one on this blog to say there should have been a "fly over," right after the terrible event, even if he didn't feel safe enough to land. Everyone else gave him excuses for it.
Even W. made the attempt, though not really, to land and say something positive during Katrina.
After ALL this time he still does not show in Haiti??
Yes, he's got a "lot on his plate," but five hours out of his constant campaigning for the next Democratic seat wouldn't hurt him.
Just because the National Enquirer uncovered the John Edwards saga does not mean it is a legitimate source of news.
It also reported John Edwards "beat" his wife. After reading "Game Change," I don't know about you, but I think Elizabeth can pretty much take care of herself.
I really don't care what anyone thinks about "snooki," including AC.
