360 RAW POLITICS GOVERNOR VS. UNIONS, Battle over Wisconsin budget: Eliot Spitzer and Ed Rollins

(When CNN signed Eliot Spitzer I thought it a terrible decision. Never in a million years did I think I'd want to hear what he had to say about anything. But over time I've come to realize he's interesting, knowledgeable and has handled himself well on CNN. Tonight the discussion with Ed and Elliot had loads of good information and no yelling or talking over each other, so I clipped it for those interested. ~Phebe)

360 was OK monday nite. So if the Libya's ambassador to the US says he's with the people of Libya yet he doesn't want Gadhafi to step down, that doesn't make sense. If you're with the people then you should want what the people want. The people want Gadhafi to step down so that's what the ambassador should want to if he really is with the people. He was talking in circles anyway.

@Phebe: I am in total agreement with you in reference to Eliot Spitzer, as I have commented many times anonymously on ATC.
I knew he would enlighten the discussions on CNN and I've heard him speak articulately in public.
He has always made sound fiscal sense as he did so tonite on 360 and it is a shame that he had to step down as governor of NY.
If only management would lose Parker and leave the show in his
hands they'd be better off.
@Wonz: Bill Maher's sister is now a representative for NJEA. I do not know her exact title.

Anderson and the 360 crew did a great job covering the uprising in Libya except for the addition of Barbara Walters. Her segment seemed to be what Letterman called "Network Time Killer" because it seemed unnecessary and tacked on.

Eliot Spitzer also surprised me, he had some good comments. I wish they had spent more time with him and the other guy and the problems in Wisconsin. I used to work for the Minnesota state government, was in the AFSCME union so I'm interested in how things will work out next door.

Good show tonight. Ben Wedemen is very brave to enter Lybia when foreign journalist are not allowed in. Hopefully, he will stay safe and doesn't get caught.

360 has just seemed like a much smarter show since the Mideast protests began and Monday night was no exception--I hope they can stay on track.

I don't have any thoughts on Spitzer one way or the other. But I did notice that he and many other Dems are putting out liberal talking points that have been proven wrong by Politifact, a non-partisan fact checking website that fact checks the political rhetoric thrown around.

They keep saying there was a surplus until Gov. Walker got into office and messed it up. That is wrong. There was $121 mill in the bank, if you will, but there was $258 mill in unpaid bills. Do your math, that means they were $137 mill in the hole before the gov ever did one solitary thing. There was never a surplus. It can't be when you have unpaid bills.

And as a side note to this..the budgets are two yr intervals, that means this budget goes from 2009-2011 meaning that Gov Doyle a Dem, the previous gov, is the one responsible for these numbers and this mess. Since Walker's effects on the budget won't kick in until 2013 he could not have and did not cause these budget problems, Politifact states.

So those tax breaks he gave to businesses don't effect anything going on right now in WI. They aren't even in effect yet. They don't hit the budget until 2013. That's another liberal talking point lie that his tax cuts are what caused this problem. Politifact proves that wrong also.

People should check things out for themselves and not just hook on to either sides political jargon because it fits what you believe. I've just pointed out three fake talking points that are running rampant on the net. If people just looked things up this wouldn't happen.
