A Night of Crazy Talk - Mommar Gadhafi & Charlie Sheen

Anderson Cooper opened AC360 with, "Good evening everyone. Breaking news after a day of dramatic developments in Libya. Libyan State Television, right now, airing a new statement from Dictator Moammar Gadhafi; taped earlier today. The dictator seeming to put out a new explanation of the uprising against him... He now seems to be blaming the opposition on communist agents of America. This is an early translation and as you know figuring out exactly what Moammar Ghadafi is saying is not always so easy."

360 was good last nite. I love that Anderson had Dr.Drew on to talk about Charlie Sheen. That interview totally made the show. its about time Anderson talked about this. I really like Dr.Drew so it was good to see him on the program. I think Charlie Sheen has a lot further to go before he reaches rock bottom. I don't think he's there yet. I think this is just the tip of the iceberg. Like when people kept saying Britney Spears had had rock bottom, even though that didn't happen until she shaved her head and attacked a paparazzi's car with an umbrella. Charlie Sheen will have his moment when he does something completely bizarre and irrational and that's when he'll hit rock bottom, in my opinion.

Nice extras. Love the pic of Anderson on the float. I want a cup too...LOL

I would bet that if you keep your eye on ebay, some of those cups just might show up!

It is obvious to me that people are commenting less because they are turned off by the content of 360.
Enough already with AC's bliss.
It is not the average viewers's biss.
We want to be informed about EVERYTHING. And that might just include getting away from international news and Charlie Sheen.
A well rounded show includes what the viewers WANT. Not what the anchor wants.

@anon 8:15 people may not be commenting less, ATA may just not be posting some of the comments. As for what 360 is reporting on, it's obvious that 360 doesn't care what happens to the average American, AC makes the big bucks and I bet his staff makes better wages than any of use, so what does it matter to them what is happening in our country. And I could do without Charlie Sheen.

You're not a mind reader, 8:15 PM. I for one might not be commenting, but I'm watching and loving all the international news. I wouldn't estimate viewership based on whether there's 3 or 10 comments on a fan blog. Nielsen ratings are easy to look up (and even their methods are not 100% guaranteed to be correct, but anyway).

IMO a news show that bases it's content on what the viewers want might be a successful show, but it doesn't necessarily make it a good one as you can see with Fox News still being the entire top ten highest rated "news" shows.

CNN is a business but I'd hope they value news over ratings, or that Anderson would at least. I'd hope he (or whoever decides this) wouldn't make many decisions of what ends up on air based on viewership, but on newsworthyness.

That said, sure, it'd be lovely if he covered WI or added some more variation otherwise, but he should do so because the topics deserve coverage, and not because of his viewers. There's no guarantee comments or ratings would go up if he did anyway.

Still, I'm also enjoying the show a lot as it is because the situation in the middle-east right now is very interesting and newsworthy, there's going on plenty to fill an hour with.
