Sunday Series 7/24/11

This Live with Regis & Kelly /Anderson Cooper co-host flashback is from Friday, September 7, 2007

Highlights of the host chat were:

•Anderson: I love this time of year, you see all the parents taking their kids to school, and you're walking to work and all of the kids are crying on the street, its great....

• Anderson has come to the conclusion that they only ask him to be substitute co-host when they have gray haired guests scheduled.

• Gelman broke the news to Anderson that he was nominated for a Relly... last year... and didn't win.

• Kelly tried her best to get Anderson to play the "Good Evening" game, but he just wouldn't go for it.

2007 was the 20th anniversary of Live with Regis and Kelly. Through out the months leading up to the anniversary show they included flashback segments. This next clip is the history of dance on Live. Now you all know if it's dancing it's going to be an Anderson Cooper free clip (except for the introduction).

It does seem everytime Anderson used to be on R&K one of the guests had grey hair...lol! Just once I wish he'd go along with Kelly and play one of her games! Thanks for doing this sunday series, I am really enjoying it.

It seems to me that Anderson's career move to dayside, was less influenced by Kelly and more influenced by Andy Cohen, for those of us who have followed him.
Andy Cohen is a well known friend of his and the VP of Bravo programming, who probably let it me known that a good time can be had through syndication.
According to the NYTimes, Andy Cohen is leaving his mark on Bravo and has single handedly made a lot of money with his own invention: The Housewive sequels.
AC has appeared with Cohen both socially and professionally.
And if Cohen's rise to fame is any indication, our friend Anderson would like to work less and receive more dollar wise.
So to keep linking him with K@R is not only redundant, it is foolish.
While Anderson may have gained insite with Kelly, his real longing is to follow in his friend Andy's footsteps.
This will probably not be posted because it is way too close to the truth.

@1:45- you may have a valid point about the influence of Andy Cohen. IMO, AC will soon find out that he may have bitten off more than he can handle. Daytime shows are not as popular as they were, and splitting himself between two shows with a third also needing occasional attention might lead to the loss of both of the main shows. Sometimes what our eyes see, our stomachs cannot handle. I wish him well, but wonder about his ability and time to juggle everything.

While I don't pretend to know if Kelly Ripa, Oprah or Andy Cohen influenced AC to move to daytime I do know that this blog has done a tremendous job posting these blasts from the past. Life is just so full of depressing news. These Sunday posts looking back at a lighthearted Anderson are something that I look forward to all week. Please don't stop ATA!

@1:51PM: Fully agree and Andy Cohen makes a lot of things look easy when in fact, they are hard.
His personality is well suited to the housewives because he tends to be less than serious in his endeveavors. He fully encompasses the meaning of "lite."
Should he at any time decide to reinvent himself and become an anchor, it just wouldn't be practical or realistic.
