Wednesday's Bits & Pieces

Anderson Cooper was on HLN's Show Biz Tonight with AJ Hammer on Tuesday night:

The Ledger had an interesting article about the talk show online. One of it's facts, that surprised us was, "Only about eight of the stations (that picked up 'Anderson') will be ones where Winfrey's show used to reside, a total dwarfed by the "Dr. Oz" show, which grabbed 80 of the slots vacated by Winfrey."

And ratings courtesy of TV by the Numbers:

Note the first night ratings for the Anderson Cooper premiere far down the list. Note that Anderson Cooper was pre-empted in a number of large markets for the US Open broadcast on CBS.

One of the places Anderson was not shown because tennis ran long, was SanDiego. On Tuesday SanDiego was Anderson's highest ratings of any city. The pre-empts did hurt his numbers

Wax AC - creepy to the extreme

According to USA Today: "Anderson" made a Nate like opening and it had not one thing to do with the US Open.
USA Today called it an "inauspicious launch," and that Dr. OZ has been up 38% over last year.
Ellen was up 8% and Regis and Kelly, where he should have stayed, was up 15%.
Could that have happened because Kelly was 50% of the draw when AC co hosted.
Seems like more viewers want OUR old news man to be HIMSELF.
People who WERE fans stayed away in droves because they recent the fact that AC thinks can do everything.
And for the record: the USA Today article should be reprinted, word for word.

2:58PM: Dream On.
People like myself are staying away purposely.

Well if Anderson was pre-empted because of Tennis, that means the stations that carry him think watching the US Open are going to get them higher ratings....and I think he should move to San Diego where the 2 people who are watching him live.

The only reason Wendy Williams did worse than Anderson, was because of all the publicity surrounding Anderson, and all the other shows got zero publicity.

Tuesday showing of Anderson in SanDiego was his highest rated city and maintain Dr. Phil's #'s 100%. Sandiego loves Anderson. We did not get Anderson because the US Open had a rain delay. No one knew that was going to happen.

In the NYC area it isn't a talkshow host that is and will get most of the ratings.
It is the program Anderson's mother faithfully admitted she watches, Judge Judy.
You lose the NYC area, you lose.
That is considered the main market.
And Nate was supposed to have been canceled.
Don't know why he's back.

All of these negative anon posters are really getting old! Ok, I get it....you don't like the fact that Anderson is doing the daytime show! Please just move on... don't watch it if you don't want to but please for Pete's sake stop with the whining posts. It's getting annoying... or if you must continue please be creative and pick some sort of name!

the only good thing on that video clip was Molly. I thought Anderson was a classy guy but that clip with Kathy Griffin had no class at all! I've lost all the respect I had for him.

That whole clip with Griffin was tasteless and using her to promote his show was also tasteless, but now he will do anything for ratings.
Just check out Monday's line-up!

I have to agree with some of the anon posters here. If people like Kathy Griffin and Snooki are going to be guests on "Anderson," I will never watch the program. I'm not a prude but I thought the segment with KG climbing into bed with AC was in very poor taste as was her removing/throwing her bathing suit. The spray tanning segment was also ill advised. I recall AC doing something like that years ago when he was on the morning show. He's come a long way since then and should not have to stoop to getting practically naked on TV to get viewers. Apparently, some of the late night hosts have similar thoughts. It's sad.

I think Anderson will lose more viewers with trashy tactics than he will gain. I'm sure there are people who like the trashy stuff, if so, tune in to Kathy's program, don't ruin Anderson's show like she ruined his New Year's Eve program!

I won't watch until he cleans up his act. He's a funny, engaging guy. He doesn't need the likes of Kathy Griffin and tastelesss stunts like her climbing in bed with him and parading around naked.
