Flashback Monday? Anderson Cooper Faces His Fears - Snakes?

The preview for Wednesday's talk show has us a bit puzzled. Anderson claims to be afraid of snakes and jumps when he tentatively touches one. See end of preview ~

Is this the same Anderson Cooper that was anchoring AC360 in April 2009 when John Zarrella was reporting about a python problem in Florida and Erica & Team 360 had a little "surprise" in the studio for him? ~

Something tells me they were a little disappointed when Anderson didn't freak out. Here's the clip ~

Anderson posted to the 360 Live Blog that night ~

i used to collect snakes as a child.. my first pet was a the person who said they didn't know they could open their mouths that wide, snakes can actually unhinge their jaws to swallow prey.

Things that make us go hmmm....... maybe Anderson will explain why he's suddenly fearful of snakes on Wednesday?

I was never afraid of large dogs until one bit me. Now I am afraid of any large dog. I change because something happened.

Lately when I read the comments it appears that someone is critical of Anderson or his new talk show. Lighten up folks. The new talk show is great and please remember if you don't have anything good to say about someone, please don't say anything. Have a nice day.

Maybe Anderson should explain why for a long time he had been saying he left Sam in the back of a taxi. Then he produces the remains of Sam on a show recently.

Hopefully this will be approved this time. I think you are mistaken, those are millipedes. You can see their legs, and exoskeleton (If you pause on the close up you can see this). As well as him saying he doesn't like bugs with lots of little legs.

Here we go again. Anon 4:49 you have to expect there will be criticism, people aren't all going to like the same things. Why not just respect their opinions and let it go.

Hey Anon4:49 why is it OK for you to criticize those who post comments here, but it's not OK for them to say what they honestly think of the show, just sayin.

@4:49: Unless you are a producer of 'Anderson,' people can say and think what they want.
So lighten up, and have a nice day.

@Cass -

Could be millipedes,we thought it was snakes. The video isn't very big and maybe our eyesight isn't what it used to be?

Perhaps this post should have gone up after the Pet Extravaganza episode - when Anderson said he hadn't held a snake in a long time, held the garter snake for a few seconds before handing it back and saying snakes creeped him out.

We liked that he didn't freak out with the snakes in the studio, the way his staff had hoped when they set up the surprise for him that night on 360!

One of my favorite 360 moments (there aren't many)! AC looks relaxed and happy handling the snake, as he does in the segments I've watched on the new show. I don't look at any parts that seem boring, dark, or heavy; maybe it's that stuff that makes him uptight. Loved watching the clip again with the 360 theme music setting the tone. Haven't watched 360 since June of last year. Hoped it would change back to the original offbeat news show it was at conception (before I started watching) but seems like that'll never happen.

@Anon 5:06pm: Just because a little boy left a snake in a taxi doesn't mean he never got it back.
