As many of you know rumors have been swirling the last few days about the fate of Anderson's talk show. His program syndicator, Telepictures, renewed Anderson late last year and later announced a executive producer shuffle and that the show was being moved out of Jazz at Lincoln Center. We thought things were pretty settled after those changes so it caught us by surprise when seemingly creditable rumors, indicating the show was in flux with more changes to come, started to surface on Thursday.
Because of our sister blog, ATC, we have developed a few friendships with the CNN PR team. The word we're getting from them is that changes are going to be announced on Monday that include Cooper signing a deal with The Learning Channel to air his talk show, and additional projects, on TLC in the Fall. The 2011/2012 season will remain the property of Time Warner/ Warner Bros. and they will solely control re-airing distribution of the first season. AC’s new partnership will be between Telepictues and The Learning Channel and gives TLC a long sought after foray into the talk show market. Their acquisition of Anderson seems a natural fit since AC’s talk show focused so heavily on TLC's programs, including Dance Moms, Toddlers and Tiaras, Little Couple, My Strange Addiction, Long Island Medium and Niecy Nash, in its first season.
Our source also tells us that because Cooper has broken ranks with Time Warner his AC360 will be replaced with a CNN produced reality TV show to air nightly in the 8PM hour. It is predicted to be a strong ratings contender and we’re told there is nothing that compares to it currently on cable news stations. The yet untitled program is slated as a cross between Jeopardy and The Superstars. CNN anchors and their staff will answer trivia questions about the day’s news events to win the opportunity to run an obstacle course against the previous night’s winning team. The program will be hosted by Piers Morgan and Erin Burnett
More details on both programs after the jump.
