Anderson was the emcee at the Mirror Awards today and TV Newser had it covered.

Media Turns a Reflective Eye Inward at Mirror Awards

Syracuse University’s S.I. Newhouse School of Communications held its sixth annual Mirror Awards ceremony at the Plaza Hotel this afternoon, honoring the year’s best media reporting.

CNN anchor Anderson Cooper emceed the ceremony, which TVNewser attended. He opened the event with commentary on the role of news organizations in society, noting the importance of incorporating women and minorities into a media industry “traditionally dominated by — well, frankly, by white men. Woohoo, white men,” Cooper said sarcastically.

“Please don’t Tweet that!” Cooper said as the crowd laughed. “Arianna, take your hands off that keyboard. At least explain, give it some context!”

ABC’s George Stephanopoulos was also on hand to present the I-3 Award for Impact, Innovation and Influence to the John S. and James L. Knight Foundation.

TVNewser spotted Arianna Huffington and Gabriel Sherman, who is working on a book about Fox News and was nominated for “Elephant in the Green Room,” a New York magazine feature on the network. Also on the guest list: Contessa Brewer, Poppy Harlow, CNN News Networks president Greg D’Alba, “CBS This Morning” executive producer Chris Licht and MSNBC vice president of primetime programming Bill Wolff.

For a full list of winners, visit the Mirror Awards website.

Some good and some not so good on Wednesday's 360. The news about Lance Armstrong was "Breaking" but news about an athlete charged with doping is not a lead story. I wouldn't be surprised if most athletes did use drugs just like nobody is surprised if beauty pageant contestants had tons of plastic surgery. But I liked Armstrong's sttatement, pretty much saying 'whatever, it's past, move on everybody.'

Drew Griffin's report on the Montreal SPCA and Quadriga was good, hoping his next report is how to find out if a non-profit is signed on with Quadriga or not.

The report on the American in Nicaraguan jail on possible phony charges was sad. Missing was any news on how people could help - contact their representative? the Nicaraguan embassy? refuse to travel there?

Anderson was a little out of it. He badly flubbed his words several times and then totally missed his cue to introduce Isha for the Bulletin. If you didn't see it, 360 came back from commercial with Anderson and Isha staring into their cameras. After a couple seconds, Isha just started the Bulletin, not waiting anymore for Anderson to say anything.

Hopefully it's just a temporary loss of focus and Anderson will be more on the ball tomorrow.

360 was OK. I did like the piece about the Montreal animal shelter. I think these charities need to quit using that Quadriga Arts. They seem to be a very shady business.
