Long time AC360 watchers will remember David Doss, Anderson's former executive producer. Doss left 360 a few years ago and his name has been popping up recently in connection with Al-Jazeera America.  Today the rumors become official and Doss was named head of news programming for the network that premiers in August.  Ali Velshi and Soledad O'Brien have also signed with AJA along quite a few former CNN'ers who work behind the scenes.

The Center For Investigative Reporting and CNN Find Widespread Fraud in America’s Largest Medicaid Program

A one-year groundbreaking investigation by The Center for Investigative Reporting and CNN into taxpayer-funded drug rehab programs, part of America’s largest Medicaid program, has found widespread fraud, costing taxpayers tens of millions of dollars.

CIR and CNN reviewed thousands of pages of government records, interviewed dozens of counselors, patients, officials and investigators on the frontlines, and conducted undercover surveillance of troubled clinics.

The joint CIR/CNN investigation found that nearly half of the more than $100 million in public funds spent on the program in the last fiscal year goes to clinics that have shown signs of deception and questionable billing practices.

The three-part series, “Rehab Racket,” premieres on Anderson Cooper 360° at 8 and 10 pm ET on July 29/30/31. CIR will publish online articles starting the 29th. The CIR team includes reporters Christina Jewett and Will Evans, Senior Editor Amy Pyle, Director of Digital Media Susanne Reber and Editorial Director Mark Katches. The CNN team includes Investigative Correspondent Drew Griffin, Senior Investigative Producer Scott Zamost and Richard T. Griffiths, vice president and senior editorial director.

You can find the stories, including resources that explain how public money flows to rehab centers, biographies on the main players and more on their websites at cironline.org and cnn.com.

Jordan Davis' parents and their attorney were supposed to be on AC 360 tonight but were bumped by Royal baby news.  They did tape their interviews with Anderson to air at a later date.  Here are 2 pics that were posted on Twitter:

"And now for something completely different..."

I didn't mind most of 360 being about Prince Cambridge. It was a welcome change from all the Zimmerman trial and crime news from last week. It's fluffy news for us in the ex-British-colony but still good news, happy news and congratulations to the new little family.

The other breaking news story, the Southwest flight nosediving at LaGuardia got some attention but I could have done without the phone interview from the passenger.

Hopefully Richard Quest will show up tomorrow and have a good long talk with Anderson.

And then back to real news!
