Anderson Cooper Anchors CNN Coverage of Malaysia Airlines Jet That Crashed In The Ukraine

Anderson Cooper took over CNN's special coverage of the Malaysia Airlines jet that crashed in the Ukraine from John Berman at 12:15pm ET.  He stayed in the anchor chair for almost 4 hours until Jake Tapper took over for his program, "The Lead."  Anderson spoke with a variety of correspondents, pundits and "experts" as the story unfolded.

Anderson does a good job anchoring true breaking news stories with lots of moving pieces. My only complaint was that someone thought it wise to let Sen. John McCain weigh in and gave him a platform for his war-mongering. His appearance on the program/comments simply didn't fit with the rest of the programming content.

Anderson spent a lot of hours behind the anchor desk today and did a good job.

I'm not sure who normally anchors during the time AC took over coverage of the Malaysian crash but apparently CNN feels these major stories have to be carried by the big guns there and the regular anchors are pushed aside. Totally agree with anon 11:36 about McCain.
