Anderson Cooper 360 on Monday, May 11, 2015

Anderson Cooper anchored AC360 from the NYC studio on Monday night.  One of the topics covered was a segment about the new Hersh report on the killing of Bin Laden.   It was good to see Peter Bergen on AC360 !!

Monday's 360 started with the road rage shooting involving George Zimmerman. Martin Savidge had the report and the history of Zimmerman's run-ins with the law since Trayvon Martin. A decent decision to make this the lead story but it didn't deserve an interview with the guy, Kenneth Cornell, who made the 911 call or a discussion with Mark Garages and Sunny Hostin.

The second segment was devoted to Tom Brady's four-game suspension by the NFL. Anderson talked to Rachel Nichols and Drew Rosenhaus.
Here's my gripe: This story should have been a blip in the Bulletin or, at the most, given a short segment later in the show. It's big news but not at all important to most people. I enjoy watching a good football game but feel this was given too much time today and especially last Thursday (80% of the hour).
The die-hard NFL or Patriots fans who really care about Brady will get their news from ESPN or the NFL Network, not from CNN or MSNBC (Hayes also covered Brady in his second segment).

Tornadoes in the Plains again! Anderson narrated a video of destruction and then interviewed the Duwe family about their close encounter with a tornado.

The new allegations stating the official account of the killing of Osama bin Laden isn't totally accurate should have been the lead story. Seymour Hersh is making these allegations and Anderson talked "with Hersh earlier". That interview was shown with the LIVE icon on. Points of contention are details such as the Pakistani man who helped find bin Lade, whether it was truly a "raid", what was staged and the handling of bin Laden's body. Anderson's Q&A with Peter Bergen is on the ATA post.

Over the weekend two police officers were killed in the line of duty in Mississippi. Anderson spoke with the Ross family about losing their family member.

Last up was a promo for Fareed Zakaria's special rerport on ISIS to be broadcast right after 360.

I channelsurfed quite a bit; if there was a Bulletin, I missed it.

George Zimmerman is a straight up thug and it's only a matter of time before he kills someone else or someone finally gets him. He should've been locked up a long time ago, he's a danger to society.

Nope, won't take up AC's suggestion to read the Seymour Hersh article. Seems like another Benghazi-type attempt to smear the Obama administration and the press (AC360 in particular) is always eager to jump one something like this. Hersh's own employer didn't buy into his allegations.
