Anderson Cooper 360 on Monday, June 29, 2015 + Anderson Cooper Talks to Glen Campbell's Wife & Daughter

Anderson Cooper anchored an expanded 2 hour edition of AC360 from the NYC studio.

AC360 tweeted about an interview Anderson did with Glen Campbell's wife and daughter that didn't make it to air last Friday.  It was to promote the CNN Documentary on Glen Campbell's life with Alzheimer's.  If you are a fan of Glen Campbell's or someone wanting to know more about a personal struggle with Alzheimer's you will enjoy the documentary.  It's title Glen Campbell, I'll Be Me.   It originally aired Sunday evening on CNN, but I'm sure CNN will repeat it.

The first half of Monday's 360 was all about the capture of David Sweat, one of the two NY convicts who escaped from prison a couple weeks ago. I got all the information I needed in the first few minutes so I changed the channel. Hayes was covering the backlash in Texas and Alabama against the SCOTUS ruling on same-sex marriage (i.e. TX Attorney General telling county officials they don't have to issue marriage licenses to same-sex couples). Anderson would get to this topic much later.

The second segment started with news about the Clinton Correctional Facility being investigated. I didn't watch the rest.

The third segment was "Trail of Clues", i guess covering how Sweat wsa found and captured. But I changed the channel.

I came back in time to see the segment on Donald Trump, his firing from NBC and his campaign. There was a good report but I didn't catch who made it. The panel was Jeffrey Toobin, Athena Jones and Bill Carter. It was a good discussion and Anderson showed a flash of snide when asking Toobin a question late in the segment. However, I didn't like the photo slideshow which showed too many pictures of Ivanka Trump just by herself. There were photos, clips of Ivanka on 'The Apprentice' and at campaign stops with her father. But photos of Ivanka alone makes it look like the story is about her.

Even though it came very late in the first hour, I liked the segment titled 'Texas vs. SCOTUS'. I liked the video of Ryan Nobles asking for the Cook Cty TX clerk, who publicly stated she would not issue marriage licenses to same-sex couples, to state her case. That woman scurried quickly, with her head down, saying to check the website or something. That video is not on 360's website but I hope it's added soon. I'd also like to take another look at Anderson's Q&A with Toobin about this issue.

I didn't watch the second hour; it looked like ti would be another half-hour start on Sweat. I'm hoping with Sweat's capture this story can be put on the back burner and soon taken off the stove completely.

Is CNN trying to phase AC out? Lemon is getting more political guest, he is going to interview trump tomorrow. Lemon's show is getting more political commentators and more political stories. AC360 is more of a crime and punishment show. I think CNN is capitalizing on Lemon's outspoken and racially charge comments. CNN is a big race network and race keeps coming up in the news and they are getting behind Lemon to just run with the racial stories. I noticed that unless ac360 is covering crime, trails the other segments are short and feel kinda rushed. Who knows, maybe CNN will try to make a switch and put Lemon on at 8. I don't like him personally and find him to be very pretentious and arrogant and sorta racist... but he's generating buzz on CNN.

RE: Don Lemon - I sure hope not! He's just a bunch of fluff. AC is so popular right now, I can't believe they'd phase him out, unless he's just ready for it.

I don't know if AC is so popular right now by the way CNN is pushing Lemon. They definitely are pushing Lemon more right now. They gave him the big interview with Trump tonight, which will cause fireworks since Trump and Lemon are making the news often basically for wrong reasons. There just doesn't seem to be a lot of time being placed on AC360 as the flagship show anymore. I'm not the only one who has noticed that but many longtime fans, viewers. As I said, I personally can't stand Lemon but he is generating a lot of buzz for the network right now. Its not because of journalism like AC but his outspoken nature and racial dialogue. CNN is a huge race network, some say race baiting and Lemon is leading the racial sensitionalism on the network right now. I believe he should be regulated to a CNN commentator. He gives personal views too much for journalism purest like myself who prefer to tell the facts and keep opinions to yourself.
