Anderson Cooper 360 on Wednesday, July 8, 2015: Anderson Cooper's Interview With Donald Trump

Anderson Cooper anchored AC360 from the NYC studio and devoted the entire hour to his interview with Donald Trump, complete with analysis.  Paul Begala is a favorite with the ATA Team and it was nice to see him on AC360 tonight.

Donald Trump speaks...blah, blah blah. It's always the same egotistical boasting, insults and evasive tactics and lies with no real substance. Anderson kept trying to hit Trump with facts, but it doesn't matter, Trump just spews the same old baloney he always does. The best part of the show was the panel discussions AC had with John King, Gloria Borger, Anna Navarro and Bill Kristol. Borger and King did a good job of summing up Donald Trump's problems as a candidate and Begala did an excellent job of pointing out how Trump is pretty much the face of the Republican party--they brought this on themselves and it may ultimately (hopefully!) destroy them or at least do some serious damage in 2016. RNC chair Reince Preibus apparently has told Trump to tone it down because he's making things difficult for the party--I despise Trump but I hope he keeps talking and being as outrageously obnoxious as always--it can only help Democrats. Anderson is clearly not impressed with Hillary Clinton and he seems to admire how Trump just says whatever he has on his mind but surely AC knows that doesn't make Trump qualified to run the country.

I heard that Karl Penhaul was fired from CNN for some highly critical tweets about Donald Trump--Jeff Zucker is supposed to be good friends with Trump--Penhaul was one of CNN's better reporters and I'm sorry he's no longer with them.

As ATA stated, Wednesday's 360 was the All Trump Hour. Nothing but Trump. Trump Trump Trump and then even more Trump. A heck of a lot of Trump. If Trump wasn't on the screen it was political pundits talking about Trump. All the Trump you could ever Trump at. The more Trump was on the more he looked like a Dr. Suess character. And the good Dr. wouldn't even have to change the name, the hair or the face. Just change the suit into some funny-looking clothes and there you go, The Trump. Same personality, too, always bombastic, always thinks he's right.

The Trumpitude started right off the bat and the first clip wasted no time in bashing Hillary Clinton. Trump's stupid comments, fiscal policy, foreign policy and everything else waited. Was Anderson's first question really about Hillary? With all the other juicy stuff to get to? Nevertheless, the first clip wasTrump's negative comments on the Democratic frontrunner.

I would have paid more attention to Hayes but the first 45 minutes of his show was clips of the interview Trump gave to someone (never found out her name) at NBC news.

I can only take so much Trump and channelsurfed quite a bit. However, here are the topics (besides Hillary) I heard in the interview: immigration, immigration-related crime statistics, backlash against his businesses due to his comments, fighting ISIS (pretty much bomb them off the face of the Earth), foreign policy, Putin and Edward Snowden.

Seeing William Kristol on a panel made me give up on 360 completely. Paul Begala couldn't save the panel and I hated it when Kristol talked over Begala and Anderson let him. Fortunately, the Trump Showcase was over on Hayes' show and he was covering the comments of former Mexican President Felipe Calderon about Trump's comments. Hayes also included the Baltimore Mayor firing the Chief of Police, the "Water Wars" special he's doing next week and an update on Bill Cosby's lawsuits.

360 didn't have a Bulletin and it needed one. Even if it was just a blip, they needed to state that the Hood Cty Texas clerk, Katie Lang, has started issuing marriage licenses to same-sex couples because a gay couple filed a lawsuit against her.

I've had enough of Trump. On Thursday's show, if there are segments reviewing the Trump interview and Hayes is doing the same, I'd rather watch 'Gilligan's Island'.

All Trump Wednesday. They don't have a choice but to pay attention to him because he is doing well in the polls. Trump as I said is entertaining. You either love or hate the guy. I give him credit for speaking his mind and not backing down. I think he has made some points about the broken immigration system. How that guy was able to come back in this country after being deported 5 times and able to come in find a gun and kill that poor woman is a legitimate issue that affects us all. So Trump is right about that. But building a wall is ridiculous. Bombing the hell out of Iraq oil reserves was just an outrageous answer. I guess I find him entertaining because of his candor and he does have some good one liners. Trump is Trump he isn't going to change. He is keeping it real. Would I vote for him? HELL NO! But I will say he is making this early election cycle interesting. I find it interesting how AC took the more liberal approach to Trump with bis questioning and follow up questions. How king and other commentators took the liberal approach in critiquing Trumps answers. When Hilary had her interview they are took a more conservative approach in attacking her answers. I find it interesting how they did that. AC really did challenge and tried to pin Trumps answers and press for some of hypocrisy that Trump has. But trump is a good speaker and is very sharp, he gave some good rebuttals from his past stuff and criticisms. Trump won't be the nominee. He doesn't have my vote. He is a buffoon, his is politically incorrect but he is entertaining.

OF COURSE AC ADMIRES TRUMP.....FOR HIM IT IS A POCKETBOOK ISSUE AND HE KNOWS TRUMP WILL NEVER GO
AFTER HIS RICHES. AC IS A REPUBLICAN WHO SHOWS UP IN DISASTERS, SHOWS SYMPATHY FOR "THE LITTLE GUY"AMD EVERYONE THINKS THEY KNOW THE REAL ANDERSON. FOLKS HE'S JUST DOING HIS JOB!
EVERYONE VOTES THEIR POCKETBOOK AND "THE DONALD" HASN'T GOTTEN INTO THE REAL "DIRTY" PART OF THE
POLITICAL GAME YET.
EVERYTHING HE EVER DID WILL EVENTUALLY BE INVESTIGATED.
FEW KNOW THAT TRUMPS BROTHER COMMITTED SUICIDE.....SOMETHING THE MEDIA NEVER DWELLS ON AND AC MAY
CERTAINLY FIND A KINDRED SPIRIT IN TRUMP'S DEMEANOR AND HOW HE HANDLES HIMSELF KNOWING HIS BACKGROUND.
TRUMP'S WIFE IS FOREIGN BORN, AND THAT IS ANOTHER ISSUE MR TRUMP WILL BE ASKED ABOUT SOONER OR LATER. NO, SHE'S NOT RUNNING FOR OFFICE, BUT BECAUSE HE WAS SOOOO BIG ON THE "BIRTHER"ISSUE IN
REFERENCE TO OBAMA, THIS WILL BE A GOOD PLOY TO NEEDLE HIM,
MANY THINGS WILL EVENTUALLY GET UNDER HIS SKIN AND THAT'S WHEN WE'LL SEE JUST HOW THIN "THE DONALD'S SKIN AND NONTRANSPARENT, TRUMP ISN'T.
