Thursday's 360 - too much deja vu!

The first segment was pretty good because Trump did visit the border today and that was new news. Dana Bash was on the scene of Trump's border with Mexico visit and talk of border control and immigration. Anderson interviewed Shawn Moran of the U.S. Border Patrol about Trump's visit, why the border patrol didn't participate in it and how they feel about Trump's criticism. Gary Tuchman filed a report about the protesters, mostly Latino but other people were there as well such as at least one guy who had a sign about POWs. Tuchman talked to several protesters including one pro-Trump woman.

The next two segments were mostly unnecessary. Both dealt with Trump-related topics that were already covered by 360 earlier in the week.
One of these was Trump's comments on Iraq/ISIS/Al Queda. These comments were re-broadcast. Anderson's interview with General Herrting could have been boiled down and added to the first segment.
The other was a ra-hash of the third-party candidate topic. Trump's comments on this topic were shown again and the panel - Jeffrey Lord, S.E. Cup and Dan Restreppa - said pretty much what's already been said before. Poll numbers were shown at one point; numbers that state Hillary Clinton would win over Jeb and win over Jeb and Trump as a third-party candidate. This topic should have been discussed more.

There was also very little new information in the segment on Sandra Bland's death. Although the medical examiner's report was released today, there was nothing incredibly new in it. Evidence pointed to suicide for several days. Sunny Hostin and Harry Houck began the panel and the start looked so much like previous panels, I went elsewhere on the TV.

Randi Kaye's report "Traffic Stops Gone Wrong" on excessive measures by the police in minor traffic stops, felt like filler. The three cases she profiled were not new.

The Ridiculist was new and I appreciated seeing it again. Some of the 'close encounters with bears' clips were old stuff seen previously on the Ridiculist. Nonetheless, it was an amusing piece.

Anderson should have included the Senate committee hearing on the Iran nuclear deal. I also would have appreciated a mention of the newly found 'Goldilocks' planet, Earth's cousin.

The good news for Friday is Trump moving to the back burner. The bad news is the move is caused by a theatre shooting in Lafayette LA.

Trump once again got irate when pushed for details by the reporters meeting him in Laredo and by Anderson--AC had a point when he said Trump is impervious to facts or criticism, no matter how much he fights the press and angers the public, his supporters will back him and his poll numbers will rise--he must be on a real power trip now and in no frame of mind to do what the RNC tells him. I'll say it again, Republicans brought all of this on themselves by cultivating the bigotry of so many in the conservative base. I enjoyed Anderson's discussion with General Hertling who didn't mince words about Trump's ridiculous ideas on Iraq/ISIS and the political panel was also good--I'm always ready to hear about the GOP's dilemma with Trump and how it may take them down if they don't figure out what to do about him. The Koch Brothers, Sheldon Adelson, ALEC, Rupert Murdoch and others in the scary right wing billionaire donor club must be infuriated with Trump right now. It was good to see Dan Restrepo on the panel with Lord and Cupp--it's not often you see anyone connected with the Obama Administration on 360.

There are some really disturbing photos of Sandra Bland on Twitter and they raise questions about what actually happened to her in that jail--I know the official conclusion leans towards suicide, but something about that still doesn't seem quite right--I saw her mom on MSNBC and she was adamant that Sandra was NOT depressed or suicidal but rather excited about her new career opportunity in Texas--a tape was played of Sandra after she arrived in Texas and she didn't sound the least bit down--I know the horrible circumstances of her arrest could've possibly turned things around for her mentally/emotionally as time progressed, but after seeing her incredibly strong, confident and vibrant mother talking about her, it's still hard for me to believe what I'm hearing from law enforcement. Something isn't right.

Nice to see the Ridiculist back.

I think sometimes families can be in a denial about somethings. Bland admitted she has tried to commit suicide before and she was cutting her wrist. I want to tell a personal story. I used to date someone suicidal and he also used to cut his wrist. Its a sad situation. I used to see were he showed me were he cut and the pain on cause. I understand she was not on meds... perhaps that would have helped or the jail sending her to a medical part of the jail. Sometimes families are in denial about somethings. I just don't understand why the jail staff would hang her with a trash bag. She was in jail, had a bail to make. Why would a correctional officer go into her cell, grab the trash bag and hang her? I want to also report that the media has ignored maybe due to other news or perhaps because of his race doesn't generate the attention it should but an Asian man has reportedly hung him in a Houston jail. It hasn't made it the mainstream media yet but hope also there is an investigation. This happened yesterday, no mention on AC360 or other mainstream news. Its just sad how the media picks and chooses what to publicize and what not to. And I'm glad some people like myself are savvy enough to see what their doing and motives are. Anyway what a spectacle Trump caused when he went to the border. I was at lunch at work when I saw it in the break room and I kept laughing. I don't know. I find him funny because I don't take him seriously and his answers to somethings are so laughable! I don't know long he will be in this race but he sure is making it entertaining. "Bombing the hell out of the oil fields" lol just absurd and laughable. I kept laughing at that. Thanks Don for the laugh.

Trump is making a mockery of the political system and Anderson and 360 have fallen under his spell, I am totally disappointed in him and lost all respect.

Other groups upset with law enforcement or lack of media exposure for their concerns need to speak up and get organized like those in the African-American community and their supporters have done to get their stories out there--the main reason that the media has been focusing on the problems African Americans have with the criminal justice system is because there has been a large and vocal outcry by the public on social media and that gets the attention of the press--it actually took a lot of pushing of the media by activists to finally report on what were mainly local stories but it happened because people spoke up loudly and forcefully through social media and other means. There are people who look at the "Black Lives Matter" movement and see it ONLY as minimizing the lives of other people (Jeb Bush stupidly commented about this the other day) but that's not what it's about--it's about a very specific problem in this country that disproportionately affects African Americans. This country does have a history of black/white tensions and the media has long focused on those issues, but that's not the main reason why you're hearing about it these days. In the early 80's, the LGBT community realized that no one was taking them seriously about the epidemic of AIDS and how so many people were dying while the government ignored them, they realized the only way to get noticed was to speak up loudly and sometimes that meant using violence to get attention. ACTUP became a powerful voice for the LGBT community and got results. If enough people push the media on an issue, they will eventually be heard.

I agree but I find him funny. Again I won't vote for him but he sure has made this early campaign season entertaining. It would be very boring without him, let's be honest. Trump knows what he's doing. Right now I'm enjoying laughing at the guys wacky comments and press follow him as he poses and makes one liners. He is funny. Stay in as long as you can Trump. I watched celebrity apprentice for many years and found him entertaining then as I do now. Again, I wouldn't vote for him or any gop running now... but I'm enjoying the spectacle. Have never seen anything like this. "BOMB THE HELL OUTTA THE OIL FIELDS!" The outrageous of that comment seemed to not only make me laugh but AC And commentators too. Hahaha

I think me and you will have to just learn to disagree with this issue. As I see it as more like an opportunistic ploy by the media to stir tensions higher and take advantage of the racial history in this country more than anything. CNN could careless about these issues with police. They could careless about the genocide going on in Baltimore. Black on black crime. What they do care about is getting people to talk and view their shows because white and black conflict sells. Look how Don Lemon has capitalize on these conflicts. Speaking of which he made a fool out of himself last night with his racial comments. "The shooter was a white male, a white male! " then later the snarky comment to a guest, "Well we know most mass shooters are younger white males" totally Inappropriate comments. No place by a real journalist. Don is a racist buffoon.

Yes, we disagree. Frankly I don't care what CNN's or any other news organization's motivation is as long as the message of police brutality and violence against African Americans gets out there. One thing I do agree with you on is that Don Lemon is a buffoon and many in the African American community despise him and see him as a self-loathing opportunist.

I think all brutality needs to be out there, not just African Americans. I did put examples out here that are being ignored. And I feel that isn't right. Lemon is leading the charge of the race card carrying media. From holding a sign with the N word because The President said to always trying to link race with everything. News flash, not everything is about race. Unless it is so obvious and facts lead to the premeditation it is not always clear. African Americans are not the only ones with struggled, police officer struggles and the media has a responsibility to highlight people of all struggles. That's all I'm saying. They report on one issue and ignore others, that's not right. So as a viewer it is obvious to see. Where is CNN when in Baltimore a couple of weeks ago, they had a march against homicides, crime in their neighborhoods? See what I'm saying... their is a big hypocrisy going on and as a concerned citizen I have to speak out against it and say let's treat things, issues with equality and fairness. Where was Don Lemon when a new rec center was opened in Baltimore? Hmm guess that won't generate ratings...

@ANON 2:10 PM HAVE TO AGREE WITH YOU. TRUMP IS MAKING A MOCKERY OF THE POLITICAL SYSTEM AND YOU
ARE RIGHT THAT THE MEDIA IS PART OF THE MOCKERY AND ANDERSON IS PART OF THE MEDIA.
BUT, NEVER OVER ESTIMATE THE INTELLIGENCE OF THE AMERICAN VOTER. IS TRUMP ANY WORSE THAN CHRISTIE?? I LIVED IN NJ FOR FORTY YEARS AND MY ANSWER IS NO. YES, "THE DONALD" WILL SALVAGE THE 1%
AND ANDERSON'S POCKET CHANGE WILL BE SAVED, BUT TRUMP DOES HAVE A FOLLOWING.
ASK YOURSELVES IS TRUMP ANY WORSE THAN SARAH PLAIN AND TALL?? SHE WAS CHOSEN BY THE SAINTLY HERO,
JOHN MC CAIN, HIMSELF. HE KNEW HER STUPIDITY AND YET THIS HERO PUT OUR COUNTRY AT RISK BY CHOOSING
A "MORON" AS HIS RUNNING MATE.
SO....ARIES MOON IS RIGHT WHEN SHE SAYS THE GOP BROUGHT TRUMP ON THEMSELVES WITH THEIR HABITUAL
DENIALS AND OBAMA LOATHING AND ALL HIS ADMINISTRATION REPRESENTS....BUT FOR THE MOMENT AT LEAST,
TRUMP IS HERE TO STAY, AND WE CAN ALL THANK ANDERSON AND THE REST OF THE MEDIA FOR MAKING HIM THE DYNAMIC FORCE OF THE GOP.

CNN doesn't really care about covering "news" any more. Zucker has made that pretty clear. They look for one or two stories that are generating a lot of traffic on social media and that's what they cover for the day. They are chasing ratings, not news stories these days.
