Anderson Cooper's Katrina Special Postponed / Anderson's Early Reporting Of Hurricane Katrina Making Landfall

Anderson Cooper's special report on Katrina was rescheduled for Wednesday night so CNN/AC360 could go full Trump coverage.  Here's a preview AC360 tweeted:

With Anderson on vacation and the very capable John Berman in the AC360 anchor chair, we thought we would bring you a couple of Anderson's early reports from when Katrina first made landfall.

The date was August 28, 2005.  This video is of Anderson in Baton Rouge before the hurricane reached its full force:

This one shows Cooper reporting after the brunt of the winds have subsided (or so he says, it still looks plenty windy to me):

Tomorrow night we will cover Anderson's Special Report.  Thursday and Friday we will be posting some retro posts of Anderson's coverage of the devastation brought by Katrina to Mississippi and New Orleans.

Well, this time CNN has gone too far, why not change the network to TNN(Trump News Network) as someone suggested.

I came up with that term! Lol They are using him for ratings and he said so in his speech tonight. I hope he does make CNN pay him 10 million for charity. They are Trump crazed on this network, my goodness. They should his whole rally and I watched because well its not boring... what they did today was idk I was looking forward to watching this special. CNN has lost its priorities and credibility of journalism... long ago but this speaks volumes. Zucker needs to go.

CNN is getting carried away with Trump. The primaries are too far away to warrant this much coverage. ENOUGH ALREADY!

I was a minute or so late to 360. Trump's speech from Dubuque IA was on so I switched to Hayes. Same thing. So I went somewhere else on the television dial. At :13, Trump's speech was still on 360 but Hayes had cut that and was talking to a political panel. The bits of the panel I saw were about Trump, nontheless, this was light years better than nationally broadcasting Trump's speech.

At :27, 360 still had Trump while Hayes had segments on Jeb's campaign and the relaxing of lead paint laws.

At :35 Trump was done talking and thus began talking about Trump. I saw Alex Castellanos but didn't stay. Hayes was covering "Amnesty in Ferguson" with a report and a Q&A with an attorney.

For the rest of the hour, 360 covered Trump topics and Hayes covered Bernie Sanders and the situation of the Democratic candidates if Biden runs.

I frequently checked 360 in the last few minutes of the hour. Since Anderson often takes time out of his show to preview/promote the CNN special coming up next, I expected and/or futilly hoped the same would be done for his special on Katrina. Nope. Berman didn't even announce it was postponed, he simply said 'Don Lemon is up next'.

So I'm pissed off at CNN and I'm not going to apologize for watching Hayes. It will be the same tomorrow if 360 tomorrow is mostly Trump. Here at ATA many commenters are fed up with shows like this but somehow CNN is getting the word that viewers wnat Trump coverage and only Trump coverage.

Thanks for the videos, ATA, but I'll have to watch them later on the better computer.

Anderson got TRUMPED. CNN of today is light years away from what it was when Katrina hit--I remember watching Anderson from the beginning of the storm--who knew that it would turn into an epic political and humanitarian disaster that still resonates today. I am disappointed but not exactly surprised that CNN thinks nothing of preempting the Katrina remembrance to go all in on Trump. It's embarrassing that CNN has allowed itself to fall into the Trump trap. Why should we even expect them to air the special Wednesday when they're so beholden to all things Trump? HE's the priority now.

Checked in on the Sit Room and Erin and guess what they were already at the rally and were doing wall to wall coverage. Thankfully I have other things to do and have been skipping CNN Primetime. Oh and I turned on Dr Drew at 9 PM AND they were talking about Trump.

Hopefully Anderson at least got an extra day out of his vacation. I can't believe they would reschedule AC's special coverage of Katrina because of Trump.
I wonder how AC feels about it.

Rescheduled again for Thursday.

AC is a Trump supporter so he doesn't mind.

I'm sorry, but I honestly don't believe he is. He's maybe fascinated with him (which he has stated in interviews) but I wouldnt say he "supports" him. So....

PLEASE LET KATRINA AND THOSE WHO WANT TO REMEMBER WHAT HAPPENED, GO. SANDY WAS A SUPER STORM AND
CAUSED MORE DEVASTATION THAN ANY PREVIOUS STORM AND IF ANDERSON HADN'T COVERED KATRINA NO ONE HERE
WOULD BE THE SLIGHTEST BIT INTERESTED IN IT.
IT MADE ANDERSON FAMOUS OR HE WAS IN THE RIGHT PLACE AT THE RIGHT TIME AND HE MADE HIMSELF FAMOUS.
LET IT GO....PLEASE. THERE ARE NOW MORE IMPORTANT ISSUES ON THE HORIZON SUCH AS "RACIAL TENSION"
THAT WE'VE NOT SEEN SINCE THE SIXTIES. AND AGAIN THE WEAPON OF CHOICE WAS A GUN.....PERSONALLY I'D
VOTE FOR TRUMP IF HE MADE GUNS AN ISSUE AND NOT IMMIGRATION. I'D CAST MY VOTE FOR ANYONE WHO MADE
GUNS AN ISSUE BECAUSE THE COUNTRY IS NOW IN THE HANDS OF THE NRA...NOT TRUMP, NOT ANDERSON, AND UNFORTUNATELY....NOT OBAMA.
