Anderson Cooper 360 on Wednesday, September 2, 2015 + Anderson & Ozzie

Anderson Cooper anchored AC360 from the NYC studio on Wednesday night.  Below is your daily dose of Trump news only because Paul Begala was on the panel and once again keeping it real:

Yesterday, Anderson shared that his beloved Molly had passed away.   Before Molly, there was Ozzie and she made her television debut on ABC's World News Now when Anderson was anchoring a segment on the truth about dogs:

AS AN ANIMAL LOVER I AM SADDENED BY MOLLY'S DEMISE BUT AM GLAD SHE CELEBRATED A LONG LIFE IN A
GOOD HOME AND WAS WELL CARED FOR. MY ONLY REGRET IS THAT HALF THE TIME, ANDERSON WAS NOT HOME WITH
HER OR ON ASSIGNMENT. I REALIZE MOST OF US WORK AND CANNOT GIVE OUT PETS THE LOVE AND AFFECTION THEY
NEED 24/7, BUT AT THE SAME TIME, IT IS THE RESPONSIBILITY OF THE OWNER TO PROVIDE THE SAME COMPANIONSHIP TO THEIR PET, AS IF IT WERE A CHILD. HANDING THESE LOVABLE CREATURES OVER TO A "PET
SITTER," BECAUSE YOU ARE ABSENT, IS NOT FAIR TO THE PET WHO SEEKS OUR COMPANIONSHIP, AND LOOKS FORWARD TO OUR ARRIVAL, EACH AND EVERY DAY.

Officer Clieniewicz's murder is still the lead story. Anderson related the latest news and showed a clip of widow Melodie Glieniewicz giving a public statement. Rosa Flores was in Fox Lake IL covering the search for the three killers. Anderson talked to Cmdr. George Filenko and Det. Christopher Caveili on the manhunt, the crime and the investigation.

The second segment focused on the manhunt. There was a report from Ryan Young and then a Q&A with Chris Swecker, formerly of the FBI, and Denny DePaul, formerly a U.S. Marshall.

I changed the channel when Trump popped up next but was back and stayed for the panel because of Paul Begala. The other two on the panel were Jeffrey Lords and Ana Navarro. They discussed Jeb talking in Spanish, Trump dissing that, immigration, the poll numbers and the GOP asking several candidates for a pledge not to run as a third party candidate. Unfortunately most of the talk focused on Trump. The GOP asked some candidates to pledge not to run as a third party? Trump and who else? They didn't cover the "who else".

My sympathies to the Steinle family (daughter Katie killed by illegal immigrant two months ago in San Francisco). However, at the same time Anderson was interviewing them, Hayes was finishing a report on the Iran nuke deal in the Senate, the immigration/refugee crisis in Europe and started covering the anti-cop rhetoric among some in the Black Lives Matter movement. I gueesed Anderson would not be reporting on these topics (especially President Obama getting new support for the Iran nuke deal).

Ed Lavendera had a short report on the Texas man shot and killed by police and the new video showing the man may have had his arms up.

Anderson devoted the last few minutes of the show to promote and preview the CNN special "Murder on Cape Cod" coming up next. I hate it when news time on 360 is given to promote other CNN shows. Maybe Anderson hates it too but is forced by his bosses to advertise those shows instead of reporting on other news, even if it's just a Bulletin.

Thanks, ATA, for the new Anderson and doggie video. Ozzie's adorable.

Rachel Maddow had some great reports about President Obama in Alaska and she and other news outlets reported on President Obama's major diplomatic victory regarding the Iran deal vote count. AC360 will not cover the president for ANY reason it seems, no matter how significant the news or event surrounding him--it's as if they're deliberately ignoring his presidency until he's out of office completely. This aspect of 360 is really irritating to me--I don't know exactly what they have against President Obama, but a REAL news program should be reporting REAL NEWS and not picking and choosing the way they want to present this president to their viewers.

360 wastes a lot of airtime on promos for other CNN programs as Jaanza said--instead of filler reports and promos with Randi Kaye, they could've used that time to talk about the president's trip to Alaska. I'm also wondering why AC360 hasn't covered the ongoing battle in Kentucky with the county clerk who is refusing to give out marriage licenses to LGBT couples--it seems to be big news everywhere except on 360--kind of odd that AC doesn't appear to be interested in this story at all.

ACCORDING TO HUFFPOST, DONALD TRUMP THINKS EVERYONE IN THE UNITED STATES SHOULD SPEAK ENGLISH.
AS A FORMER PUBLIC SCHOOL TEACHER I AGREE WITH HIM. THERE IS FAR TOO MUCH CATERING TO OTHER NATIONALITIES, ESPECIALLY LATINOS.
ESL CLASSES WERE CREATED IN THE SIXTIES BY LYNDON JOHNSON'S GREAT SOCIETY AND EVERY OTHER CHILD IS ENCOURAGED IN OUR PUBLIC SCHOOLS TO KNOW AND USE THEIR NATIVE LANGUAGE.
WHILE I AGREE THAT ONE'S NATIVE TONGUE CAN AND SHOULD BE SPOKEN AT HOME, IF YOU COME TO THE UNITED
STATES, YOU MUST LEARN ENGLISH. ESL STANDS FOR ENGLISH AS A SECOND LANGUAGE. NO IT SHOULD BE ENGLISH AS A FIRST AND THE MORE PROMINENT LANGUAGE. IF YOUR FAMILY IS USING OUR "GREAT SOCIETY" AND ITS GOODS AND SERVICES, THAN IT IS YOUR RESPONSIBILITY TO LEARN ENGLISH AND ENCOURAGE YOUR CHILDREN
TO USE ENGLISH OR REMAIN IN YOUR NATIVE COUNTRY.
ENGLISH IS THE MOST IMPORTANT LANGUAGE GLOBALLY. IN EUROPE ENGLISH IS TAUGHT TO EVERY CHILD AND IT IS FRIGHTENING TO THINK THAT IN THIS COUNTRY, HALF THE POPULATION CAN'T SPEAK OUR OWN LANGUAGE WITHOUT GRAMMATICAL ERRORS. WHY? BECAUSE THEIR PARENTS HAVE CHOSEN NOT TO MAKE THIS AN ISSUE. IT IS UNACCEPTABLE TO PAR TAKE IN OUR SOCIETY AND NOT HAVE ENGLISH AS THE DOMINATE LANGUAGE.
AND IF I'M NOT IMPRESSED WITH JEB BUSH'S BI-LINGUAL ABILITY, EITHER.
