Anderson Cooper on Friday, September 25, 2015

Anderson Cooper and Chris Cuomo anchored CNN's coverage of the Pope at Ground Zero today for the interfaith memorial service.

Anderson was back to anchor an expanded two hour edition of AC360 from the CNN "terrace" overlooking Columbus Circle.  Erin Burnett handed coverage off to Anderson as the Pope was leaving Madison Square Garden and heading to the Vatican's Diplomatic Residence where he will spend the night.  There was a panel discussion of the Pope's day in NYC:

Anderson's been working nearly non-stop since The Pope arrived--I don't think I've ever seen a 2 hour 360 on a Friday and AC's headed to Philly for more Pope activities on Saturday. I wanted to watch the Ground Zero event but missed it. Anderson seems highly impressed with Pope Francis--he seems to think the Pope is trying to be as inclusive as he's able to within church doctrine--there are areas where they're not likely to ever change as Bill Maher pointed out on Friday's Real Time.

Love how the media is trying to spin John Boehner being kicked out as Speaker of the House as something he wanted instead of something that was forced on him by the crazed teabillies in Congress. It might be true that he hated dealing with them but people like Boehner don't want to give up the kind of power and access they have. He was just about to be humiliated by his own party and got out while he could. Boehner was lousy at his job anyhow--I don't feel sorry for him, he was the worst. On the other hand, we may not have seen the worst just yet--the right wing lunatics are gearing up for more trouble-making.

I was watching The Amazing Race and the teams were in Rio de Janeiro and it's easy to see why Anderson loves it there so much (or Trancoso), it is an absolutely stunningly beautiful city--there is sadly a lot of poverty and racism side by side there though but it is truly breathtaking.

Boehner was the worse speaker in history. I don't understand what the other members had against him tho. He was for low taxes for the 1 percent, he attacked obama relentlessly, he is pro life, against same sex marriage, against equal pay, against including glbt people for non discrimination in the workplace, he's for Kim Davis not doing her job. I mean he fits right in... you can't get more combative and Republican than Boehner... I think they just wanted someone new and even more conservative. Which is mind boggling... he's also against planned parenthood.

I didn't watch 360 last night as I've watched enough of Pope coverage but it is interesting to see AC like this and also some awkward moments. The discussions of homosexuality and church views. Anderson's silence when that comes up. Erin Burnett caught herself when she said it is something to tell your kids and grand kids about... silence. Then Burnett said, "at least me kids." Guess she realized while speaking to Anderson that he of course has no kids and not going to have grandchildren. Lol. When the topics of same sex marriage come up and Pope's opposition to it. AC becomes very quiet or changes the subject. So somethings are quite noticeable doing this coverage that makes AC uncomfortable, understandbly. Chris Crumo is in his element. Dream job for him and his family being devout roman catholic's his perspective and excitement is infectious.

HAVING MET AND SEEN ANDERSON IN PERSON, AT HIS BOOK SIGNING YEARS AGO, UNLESS HE GREW 3 FEET MORE,
EITHER 'THEY' ARE MIDGETS OR HE'S STANDING ON SOMETHING.
IN PERSON HE DOES NOT LOOK TALL AT ALL....HE DOESN'T EVEN LOOK HIS 5FT 7INCHES. YOU MAY NOT EVEN
RECOGNIZE HIM IN A CROWD UNLESS YOU KNEW HE WAS THERE AHEAD OF TIME.
