Anderson Cooper On Wednesday, September 16, 2015 + Anderson Cooper to Moderate First Democratic Presidential Debate

Anderson Cooper anchored The Lead, filling in for Jake Tapper.    Anderson was back after the first debate for a short program prior to the beginning of the main debate.  He posted the following photo and video to his Facebook page:

Anderson was back after the main (3 hour) debate anchoring a special two hour edition of AC360  wrapping up all the debate coverage.   Jake Tapper announced at the end of the debate that Anderson would be moderating the first Democratic Debate next month.  The debate is sponsored by CNN in partnership with Facebook.  The reason for Anderson upping his Facebook game the past few days?

From The Wrap:

Anderson Cooper to Moderate First Democratic Presidential Debate
CNN anchor will lead debate scheduled for Oct. 13

CNN’s Anderson Cooper will moderate the first Democratic presidential debate, multiple media outlets reported Wednesday.

The debate is scheduled for Tuesday, Oct. 13, and will take place in Las Vegas, Nevada.

The first debate for the Democratic presidential candidates will pit democratic frontrunner Hillary Clinton against Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders, former Maryland Gov. Martin O’Malley, former Rhode Island Gov. Lincoln Chafee and former Virginia Sen. Jim Webb.

The network also hosted two Republican presidential debates on Wednesday. One featuring the 11 highest-polling candidates and a preceding debate featuring those who didn’t make the cut. Both were moderated by CNN host Jake Tapper.

Survey time!

Let's pretend the GOP debates were set for next week and today CNN had it's usual schedule. Would Anderson, on his regular Wednesday 360, report on Ahmed Mohamed?
Ahmed Mohamed is a 14-year-old high school freshman in Irving TX. He was arrested for bringing a home-made clock to school. A teacher thought it was a bomb and called the cops. Ahmed was interrogated and arrested. Since then there's been an outcry against the school and support for Ahmed which includes an invitation to the White House and an invitation to tour MIT. Would Anderson have covered this story?

My answer: Yes... after 45 minutes of Trump.

President Obama had the PERFECT response to the controversy over Ahmed Mohamed--he praised his clock, invited him to the White House and told him to keep following his dreams. None of the clowns on the debate stage Wednesday night have the intelligence, grace or compassion of President Obama, they don't measure up to him in the slightest and it was very apparent after watching and listening to them yammer and tell blatant lies about him for a few hours on CNN.

I'd like to know how Jake Tapper could've allowed Jeb Bush to get away with saying that his brother W kept us safe without bringing up the fact that 9/11 happened on HIS watch and we would've been really safe had the Bush Administration not ignored the warnings about Osama bin Laden. This is what makes me tear my hair out about our timid media and how they won't call out the GOP's lies much of the time.

I would rather see AC moderate the GOP debates just to see if he'd call them out and challenge their claims--I don't expect he would. I'm sure he's going to go after the Democratic candidates next month however.

What I got from debate was I despised hucakbee, cruz and the rest even more when they are on a debate stage. Jeb Bush. Your brother did not keep us safe. 9-11 happen on his watch then paranoia led us to Iraq on a false war and cause thousands of lives and trillions of debt. Rand Paul needs to drop out, christie too. Huckabee says he wants to lift everyone to greatness. Yeah, as long as you're not gay! AC continues to give these clowns a free pass and push back is very low when the gop spew their hawking, backwards social ideas. I think what Tapper and CNN plan was them to ask them a lead off question then let them attack each other and Obama. The hate for Obama is just it seems a socially accepted thing. GOP and some dems now make it seem he has done nothing right. The so called journalist don't push back on claims... it is just frustrating. I found myself pushing back verbally to the t.v. It was entertaining but too long. Two hour tops. CNN went way too far with the coverage... it was like a A super bowl or pageant. Let's see how they treat the dems. So far dems are the enemy or exist.

IN RESPONSE TO A CARTOON THAT APPEARED IN THE NYPOST IN THE OP ED SECTION, SHOWING DONALD TRUMP CALLING
CARLY FIORINA, "A GAL WITH COOTIES." THIS JUST SHOWS HOW SOPHOMORIC HIS THINKING IS....NAME CALLING
IS FOR TWEENS IN HIGH SCHOOL, NOT SCHOLARS OR PEOPLE WHO ASPIRE TO GREATNESS BY BECOMING PRESIDENT
OF THE UNITED STATES.
WHILE THE POST DECLARED CARLY THE WINNER OF THE 2ND DEBATE, HER WILLINGNESS TO ARTICULATE HER PLANS SHOULD SHE ENGAGE WITH PUTIN, AND HER ABILITIES TO ARBITRATE ISSUES AT THE HIGHEST LEVELS, FROM HER EXPERTISE AND EXPERIENCE AT HP, SHE CAME ACROSS AS SHRILL, SOMEONE WHO NEEDS TO BE PUSHY AND TOUGH
BECAUSE SHE IS A WOMAN. AND THAT IS ALL VERY WELL AND GOOD, BUT SHE LACKED THE ONE CHARACTERISTIC
HILLARY NOW HAS,....A SOFTNESS AND LIKABILITY.
HILLARY HAD TO LEARN THAT THIS QUALITY IS MOST IMPORTANT AND NOW IT IS CARLY'S TURN. MOST WOMEN
I KNOW FELT THE SAME WAY I DID, IN SPITE OF THE POST'S ANALYSIS.....SHE WAS VERY SMART, BUT JUST TOO HARSH AND OVERBEARING TO BE TAKEN SERIOUSLY.
