Anderson Cooper 360 on Wednesday, October 21, 2015

Anderson Cooper anchored AC360 from the NYC studio.  David Axelrod was a guest on the segment about Vice President Biden's announcement today:

Some more clips of Anderson's interview with Bill Carter on SiriusXM Radio were posted:

Anderson is going to be a guest of Andy Cohen's on Bravo's WWHL tomorrow night.  They apparently taped the episode on Monday.  Here's a clip:

I'm disappointed in Wednesday's 360. The lead story was Trump campaigning in Iowa and a new poll among Republicans which puts him on top. If Trump had taken a long break from campaigning, his campaign stop in Iowa might have been news or if that was the first poll which put him on top it might have been news. But neither was new news or big news.
Biden officially stating he will not run in 2016 WAS THE BIG NEWS STORY OF THE DAY!
Somehow Anderson and/or the 360 producers didn't see it that way. Trump was given time and attention at the start of the show, a talk with Sara Murray at the Trump event and a panel with Jeffrey Lord and a guy named Dawson. Dawson is part of a new SuperPAC designed to stop Trump. He called Trump "too troublesome" and had some good reasons why. I went away and when I came back Anderson was flubbing through a question about Trump trumpeting his poll numbers in every speech. The sloppy and almost inarticulate question made me think that Anderson did not prepare at all for the segment.

Someone please answer this: How did the segment on Biden not getting in the 2016 campaign start? Did it start with a clip from Biden's speech? Or did it start right when I got back to 360 and saw a clip of Trump announcing Riden's decision?
If 360 didn't have Biden making his own announcement about his own decision on his political future and instead used the opportunity to spotlight Trump again I'D BE REALLY PISSED OFF!!!
Anderson talked to Jeff Zeleny and then a panel of David Axelrod and Gloria Borger analyzed. I liked Axelrod's comment on the "crush of reality" being a major factor.

The next segment had two reports. The first was Dana Bash on Rep. Paul Ryan getting the support/endorsements he needs from the GOP caucus groups. The second was the road-rage shooting in New Mexico which killed a four-year-old girl.

Anderson's intro and Tom Foreman's report on Hillary Clinton testifying before the Benghazi investigation committee tomorrow left out one big element. The big news the last couple weeks was Kevin McCarthy's admission, seconded by a few other Republicans, that the motive of this latest - the eighth - committee investigation is to derail and discredit Hillary Clinton. Thank goodness the panel of David Gergen, Jeffrey Toobin and Donna Brazile mentioned this a few times.

Filler segment of the night was Randi Kaye's report on a man who shot his sister back in 1989 and the repercussions he's still dealing with. I guess this is being shown because there was a recent incident of a brother killing sibling shooting. Instead I watched Hayes' cover Exxon, climate change and Bernie Sanders.

Thanks ATA for the Bill Carter interview pieces. Anderson talked quite a bit about preparing for the debate but the best part was the last one where Anderson talked about getting into the news field. We've heard this story before but it's better than hearing about Trump some more.

Leading with Trump instead of the big news from Biden is ridiculous.

This once credible program is a big embarrassment at the moment AC has turned into Trump propaganda machine and AC's weak KTH on trump Tuesday was just unbelievable, how he backed down from Trump's surrogate and wouldn't push back. His question about Trump boasting about his poll numbers was outright silly. He had a sly smirk on his face like he knew it was a dumb question. I bet tonights 360 will focus more on GOP attacks and talking points other than the actual truth. This was a partisan ploy from the beginning to try to discredit a run for Clinton. 360 needs to point that out and push back harder against republicans but they won't because they are trying to suck in as much fox viewers as they can and still fail. This program is not fair and balance and they should send AC off to overseas to do what he does best field reporting on international issues. AC will not stand up to Trump, the right for nothing anymore. He used to, especially doing the birther issue and gay issues but they ignore gay issues now.

HUFFPOST IS REPORTING THAT ANDERSON IS NOT PLEASED WITH THE "QUEENED UP" IMPRESSION OF HIM ON
SNL. I WAS GOING TO SAY JUST THAT EARLIER IN THE WEEK BUT I DIDN'T THINK YOU WOULD HAVE POSTED
IT. HE REALLY ISN'T LIKE THAT AT ALL WHEN HE'S ANCHORING, SO I DIDN'T THINK THE DEPICTION WAS
REAL OR ACCURATE AND HE SHOULD BE ANGERED BY THEIR INTERPRETATION OF HIM.
IT WILL BE INTERESTING TO SEE THE TESTIMONY OF HILLARY ON SNL. I'M CERTAIN THEIR PARODY WILL CAPTURE ALL OF THE VISUALS WE'VE SEEN OF HER OVER THE WEEK. IF ANYTHING, SNL IS ALWAYS CURRENT.
