Anderson Cooper 360 on Friday, November 6, 2015

Anderson Cooper anchored AC360 on Friday from the NYC studio.  The program topics covered were the Russian Flight 9268, airline safety, Ben Carson and Donald Trump.   Here's Friday night's requisite Trump segment.  The panel discussion seemed to go off the rails....

So I FF through most of tonight's AC360 since I wanted to watch the Democratic Forum conducted by Rachel Maddow. I've only watched her program a couple of times, but she did a good job with the forum. So I'm not sure where Anderson and the AC360 producers were today but they pretty much missed a good portion of today's real news: President Obama rejected the Keystone Pipeline today, great new job numbers for October and unemployment rate dropped again, the Democratic Forum taking place tonight, etc Apparently AC360 wasn't aware the Forum was taking place as they had no one there to cover it, but they did have someone at Ben Carson's event and also sent Gary Tuchman somewhere to play Carson's rap ad and get responses. The final segment posted here on ATA was horrid. Anderson made a half hearted attempt to correct Lord's totally false statements, but he didn't try to hard. Lord did not answer the question Anderson asked and Anderson didn't push for an answer. I guess facts don't matter on CNN/AC360? I will not be watching SNL tomorrow night.

The cop that staged his own death and committed suicide in Fox Lake IL is really a despicable human being. More came out today on his police employment record. He had been behaving badly for years, but the former Chief of Police who retired while suspended just a few days before the bad cop killed himself was covering for him. In addition to sexual misconduct on the job, threatening to shoot a dispatcher, having an affair and arranging a sham marriage to his son who was in the military for his lover and son to reap financial gain in the form of military benefits, this man may have left open the door for his wife to receive a substantial pension because he killed himself before he could be indicted on his crimes. This is the man that was given a heroes funeral. Some hero. This is also the man who FOX News blamed the Black Lives Matter movement for his death. This man was no hero, but rather a thief and a bully. He was an embarrassment to his brothers in blue once the truth came out. And the wife and son (Anderson had the son as a guest on 360 to talk about his dad at the time of his death) are both under investigation for their part in the money laundrying/steeling/sham marriage to cheat the military.

I know not all cops are bad, but some are and the fact that they are often protected instead of prosecuted is partly responsible for the current cop culture including the use of excessive force, etc. I'm not sure where the poster earlier in the week got her statistics on cop killings, but blacks are killed by cops at a much higher rate than whites. Also this year is on tract to be one of the safest for police officers so the narrative that the Black Lives Matter movement is endangering police officers is not true.

I watched 'The Amazing Race' but also watched the Trump segment here on ATA. I know I said I wouldn't watch Trump segments anymore but ATA enticed me by writing it "...seemed to go off the rails..." So I had to watch the video.

Jeffrey Lord somehow saw the anger of Latino-Americans at Trump for his past comments on Mexican immigrants as the Democratic Party "playing the race card"? WTF? Anderson didn't ask him to explain that and should have.
At least Anderson asked Lord, "How does this relate to Turmp hosting 'Santurday Night Live'?" and Lord blathered again with his twisted spun theory. Maria Cardona responded well. However Lord moved the focus off of Trump, his anti-immigration comments and the legitimacy of the protests and instead place the focus on the Democratic Party "playing the race card." And Anderson let him.

That point and the fumbled intro to Randi Kaye's report made me feel Anderson was just phoning it in during this segment.

Actually the latest statistics this year shows more whites have been killed by police this year and more unarmed white men but don't expect CNN or MSNBC to report that. Unfortunately news stations, networks have their own agenda and bias for ratings, for votes for a party. Blacks are affected more per capital because they are a minority and account for 13% of the population. So it may seemed more urgent because African Americans are a minority group but it isn't a fact that more blacks are killed for whatever by police. Statistically whites double the number of black deaths by cops for various reason. Shootings, teasers and there are those who die for underlying conditions after a physical confrontation with cops. I agree bad cops need to be prosecuted and punished for wrong doings. I also want to say that it is a fine line what brutality is in some people's minds. Sometimes cops do have to take a suspect down to arrest them. Cops have to be allowed to do their job and protect and arrest people and sometimes it is not pretty how they have to take people down who are resisting and fighting them. So please be mindful of that. In a perfect world people wouldn't resist or just comply with orders to not be aggressively took down or tasered. Now I do believe there needs to be some more training on techniques of subduing suspects. I also believe the public and cops alike need more communication especially in minority communities. Least but not least we all as people need to be responsible for our own actions and follow laws and comply with police orders to make things be even more smoothly. Shaun King posted recently about two black cops shot and killed a white male... but as you can see the mainstream media has reported that. So a lot of this is politically motivated on both sides and agenda filled for ratings since black oppressed and white oppressor is a hot button topic that media exploits.

I saw the good job numbers and not surprised 360 didn't mention that. That or fox won't. It doesn't fit their narrative that Obama is actually not a bad President and not a failure.

SNL MUST GET A NEW RACHEL MADDOW. THE COMIC THEY USED FOR LAST NIGHT'S TRUMP VISIT WAS REALLY TERRIBLE. EVERYONE OF US ON THIS BLOG HAS MORE TALENT THAN SHE, AND RACHEL IS NOT THAT DULL, HAVING
WATCHED HER MANY TIMES.
TRUMP WAS AS GOOD AS HE ALLOWED HIMSELF TO BE. HE DIDN'T WANT TO DO 'RISQUE' SO WHAT WE GOT WAS NOT
COMICAL AT ALL, SPEAKING OF DULL....BUT NBC DID GET A RATINGS BUMP, SO EVERYONE WAS HAPPY.
NOW WATCH. NEXT UP, BEN CARSON....DUH.
