Anderson Cooper 360 on Sunday, January 31, 2016

Anderson Cooper anchored a special two hour edition of AC360 from the CNN Washington, DC Bureau ahead of the Iowa Caucuses tomorrow/Monday night.  It was an all politics event with a large panel trying to predict the outcome.

From Twitter:

David Axelrod posted the above Behind The Scenes photo.

The above photo was posted by Jim Obergefell from the AC2 Live show in Columbus, Ohio Saturday night.  Mr. Obergefell's (Obergefell vs. Hodges) was the landmark U.S. Supreme Court case that made same-sex marriage legal in all 50 states.   It was Ohio Governor John Kasich that wouldn't allow that state to list Mr. Obergefell as the surviving spouse on his husband's death certificate despite the fact that the couple was legally married in Maryland prior to his death in Ohio.  Perhaps the media including CNN and AC360 could do a better job of informing voters on candidates actions and positions instead of spending so much time on the shiny object named Trump?!

The press likes to pass John Kasich off as a compassionate conservative or a moderate (they do the same with Marco Rubio) but it's not true--he supports Voter I.D. laws that make it harder for liberal leaning citizens to vote, he has put in place extreme anti-abortion measures and isn't as LGBT friendly as he'd like us to believe as ATA points out.

Erin Burnett showed a clip of one of those Duck Dynasty dudes stumping for Ted Cruz and he was spouting out a ton of nasty anti-gay rhetoric--oddly enough, Anderson didn't bring any of this up on the AC360 Iowa Caucus special. Trump said he'd appoint justices opposed to same sex marriage on the Supreme Court in order to overturn the ruling--Trump is most likely doing some heavy pandering to evangelicals in Iowa with this, but AC still should've mentioned it on the show instead of engaging in another round of Trump fawning.

I do want to give AC360 credit for having the author of a Donald Trump book on in the midst of all of the fawning--his insight into Trump's extreme narcissism and failed business ventures was illuminating.

AC is moderating the democratic town hall. Why don't CNN have him do gop debate? Are they trying to protect him from gay candidates? Do they feel he will not push back against gop? I would love to see AC do a gop debate... see if he is as tough on republicans as he is on dems. I agree AC 360, CNN in general does give republicans a free pass. AC doesn't seem to care about glbt issues like he used to. He and 360 have become complacent. There are several states trying to pass laws that make it clear its ok to discriminate against glbt people but CNN is ignoring that in order to cover all things trump. I think Trump wants to win Iowa so he said that but he's not as anti gay as the rest. He employees gays, he said he doesn't believe people should be fired for their sexual orientation. Now he has been steadfast against same sex marriage, but its settled law. Loving vs VA, Roe vs wade have been laws over 40 years and its not changing. Same for same sex marriage. So that ridiculous threat is just laughable. Perhaps trump should not be able to marry again after 2 failed marriages and adultery. Breaking a lot of Christian laws. Hypocrisy.

I don't know why AC doesn't do GOP debates, he should. It seems quite easy and comfortable for him to hit President Obama, Hillary Clinton and Democrats hard while patting himself on the back for it, but he doesn't do this nearly enough with Republicans--I'm not saying he's never done it on 360, he has, but in general, he goes a lot easier on them than he does with liberals. I want to see him face down the GOP candidates for once and give them the same tough challenging questions that he gives liberal candidates, because frankly, the GOP candidates warrant more scrutiny than the Dems since the press pretty much lets them get away with everything. Trump should be called out as a total racist going against everything this country is supposed to stand for and its values but instead he gets treated with kid gloves while the press salivate over him being entertaining.

AC used to go after republicans on hypocrisy or question their anto gay views, conversion therapy, anti gay religious liberty laws that are sweeping many areas of Republican controlled house and senates... CNM and 360 are ignoring it. Its disappointing that AC used to be out spoken and highlight gay issues and they mow ignore them all for wall to wall primary coverage and Trump. I truly believe AC has become complacent or Zucker has demanded CNN to have little to no coverage regarding glbt issues and not holding gop accountable for anti views and laws trying to pass. Its a sell out thing. Zucker is trying to tap more into Fox audience.

IT WOULD PROBABLY BE A CONFLICT OF INTEREST IF ANDERSON DID MODERATE A GOP DEBATE. I AM GUESSING
THAT HE HAS DONATED A RATHER LARGE SUM TO HIS FAVORITE CANDIDATE, BUT HIS FAVORITE CANDIDATE IS
NOT ENLIGHTENED ON GAY ISSUES AND THERE IS THE CONFLICT.
I SEEM TO REMEMBER AC MODERATING A GOP CAMPAIGN IN A DIFFERENT ELECTION CYCLE. IT WAS AT THE REAGAN
LIBRARY AND THE BACK DROP HAD THE PRESIDENTIAL PLANE BEHIND IT.
HE EVEN SPOKE TO NANCY REAGAN, GLORIA'S OLD FRIEND....NO PUN INTENDED.
