Anderson Cooper 360 on Tuesday, February 2, 2016

Anderson Cooper anchored an expanded two hour edition of AC360 from CNN's Washington, D.C. bureau.  It appeared that he received the FedEx package with another suit!   The two hours was spent re-hashing the results of the Iowa Caucuses and predicting what will happen in New Hampshire next week.  Anderson closed the program by reminding viewers he will be hosting the Democratic Presidential Town Hall tomorrow night.

WOW. WHAT A HORSE RACE, NOW THAT THE HORSE'S A.. CAME IN SECOND ON THE GOP SIDE.
I DIDN'T KNOW WHETHER TO YELL "GO BERNIE GO!" OR YES, IT IS HILL ALL THE WAY! I'M A BIT SKEPTICAL
ABOUT SANDERS BUT IT IS MORE AGE RELATED THAN ANYTHING ELSE. I HAVE NO FEELINGS WHATSOEVER ABOUT
HIS USE OF THE WORD "SOCIAL DEMOCRACY," WHICH WE ARE ALREADY, HAVING SOCIAL SECURITY AND MEDICARE
WHICH WORK WONDERFULLY WELL FOR THOSE OF US LUCKY ENOUGH TO HAVE REACHED THEIR "GOLDEN YEARS,"
ACQUIRING THESE ENTITLEMENTS.
AND AS FOR TRUMPS LOSS....WELL HERE'S A BUMPER STICKER I SAW RECENTLY AND COULDN'T AGREE MORE.
DUMP TRUMP....BIG TIME!
AND TRUMP'S SPOKES PERSON NEEDS TO BE FIRED. HE SAID THAT THE PEOPLE OF IOWA KNOW HOW TO "GROW
CORN WELL BUT NOT WHEN IT COMES TO VOTING." NOW THAT'S WHAT I CALL "WINNING THEM OVER."

Just as ATA stated, the first hour of Tuesday's 360 was entirely on reviewing yesterday's Iowa caucus and speculating on next week's New Hampshire primary. Although Anderson and all of his reporters and pundits were very thorough in covering many elements of the caucus and primary, none of it was all that interesting.

Did anyone else have audio problems the first 10-15 seconds of the show?

Anderson started with an overview and then talked to Sara Murray about Trump, Sunian Serfaty about Cruz and Dana Bash about Rubio. Then it was a panel of too many pundits. Too many to name. John King, Gloria Borger, Ana-Malika Henderson, Paul Begala, Jeffrey Lord and two others. I checked in on Hayes for a while and when I got back Anderson was questioning Jeffrey Lord about a comment (don't remember from who) stating Iowa voters didn't appreciate Trump funding his own campaign. Lord gave a bland spinning answer. Whoever gave that comment is dumb. David Koch or Oprah Winfrey or Montgomery Burns could fund their own campaigns but would that make people ignore personality and positions on the issues?

Next segment was the all-Trump segment. I didn't watch but when I checked in for a moment the topic was Jeb Bush. I wondered if Ana Navarro, a long-time Jeb supporter was there and how she might have put a positive spin on Jeb's dismal Iowa showing.

John King got to use the Magic Wall to explain voting results by the numbers and by the map. I watched Hayes interview Howard Dean and Rep. Keith Ellison (D-MN)... MINNESOTA! When was the last time 360 had a Minnesotan I liked on the show?

Bernie Sanders got his own segment with Anderson interviewing Jeff Wheeler from his campaign.

The last segment of the first hour was Anderson's interview with Robby Mook from the Hillary Clinton campaign.

At the start of the second hour Anderson's first sentence was something like '...what a night in Iowa...' and his second "...Trump came in second place..." That didn't entice me to watch the second hour.

A word about pundits - Why spend so much time with pundits when they almost all got it wrong in Iowa? They can say the polls (that they relied on to say Trump would win) were outdated but the bottom line is they were wrong. I was in and out of 360 today, don't know what is predicted for New Hampshire and won't give a lot of cred to anyone who wants to make a prediction. I just hope Trump does not come in first. I'm hoping another second-place (or worse) result will make the media stop giving Trump so much spotlight.

Gloria Borger and John King seem to think that Hillary Clinton can't survive in the "change" atmosphere of this election--I had the same thought as Jaanza about the pundits and how they get it wrong sometimes when Borger and King started in on Hillary's viability in 2016--I don't know how far Sanders can go after New Hampshire, we'll see. Rubio and Cruz are scary extremists and need to be stopped at all costs.

I expect that AC will have his knives out for Hillary Clinton (maybe some Obama bashing tossed in as well) during the Town Hall and the audience will come up with lots of questions that the GOP cares about but no one else, like Benghazi and those damn emails.

This cruz is a dirty man, running a dirty campaign. I don't take Trump seriously but Cruz is someone who means what he says and will do what he wants to do if he gets elected. He wants to turn this country into a theocracy and weed out the poor... Cruz needs to be took out!

LOVED THE NEW HAMPSHIRE TOWN HALL MEETING BECAUSE IT WAS MORE OF A MEET AND GREET ATMOSPHERE AND
AC'S QUESTIONS TO BOTH CANDIDATES WERE FAIRLY THOUGHT OUT AND EXECUTED WELL. THERE WERE NO
GOTCHA QUESTIONS FOR EITHER HILLARY OR BERNIE, AND BOTH SPOKE FROM THE HEART.
THE AUDIENCE HAD THOUGHT PROVOKING QUESTIONS EXCEPT THERE WERE NO "GUN" RELATED STATEMENTS.
GOOD FOR HILLARY FOR BRINGING THE GUN ISSUE UP IN HER CLOSING REMARKS TO THE AUDIENCE.
THIS IS THE ONE ISSUE I HOLD AGAINST SANDERS, HIS STANCE ON GUN CONTROL BECAUSE HE HAS MADE IT A
NON ISSUE AND IT HAS PERMEATED BOTH TERMS OF THE OBAMA ADMINISTRATION. IT IS OBVIOUS THAT CNN VETTED THE QUESTIONS BEFORE THE PROGRAM WENT LIVE.
LOVED IT THAT TRUMP CAME IN SECOND AND LOST. THAT WORD DOES NOT SIT WELL WITH HIM, BUT I DO HOPE'
HE GETS USED TO IT.
NOT THAT I HAVE MUCH RESPECT FOR THE OTHER TWO LOSERS, BUT TRUMP NEEDS TO LEARN WHAT IT IS LIKE TO LOSE....BIG TIME. HE NEEDS A REAL DOSE OF HIS OWN REALITY AND GROW UP. HE IS A PERSON WHO HAS
HAD IT TOO EASY FOR WAY TOO LONG AND NO, SOMETHING TELLS ME CRUZ'S WIN WAS LEGITIMATE. YES, HE IS
INSANE, BUT THEN HE'S A REPUBLICAN, AND THEY ONLY COME IN ONE FLAVOR.
