Anderson Cooper 360 on Thursday, March 17, 2016

Anderson Cooper anchored an expanded 2 hour edition of AC360 from the NYC studio.  The first hour was mostly politics with a giant panel and ended with a segment on Sea World/Killer Whales in captivity.  The second hour started with politics and the giant panel, but also included a segment on SCOTUS nominee - Judge Garland:

Andy Cohen and Anderson Cooper Crashed A Wedding!

Andy Cohen and Anderson Cooper have quite a long list of accomplishments. From foreign journalism and international reporting to wrangling reality TV stars off of one another when the Real Housewives try to pull each other's hair out, their respective resumes are nothing to shake a stick at. But, despite all of their hosting and anchor credentials, their latest title is our favorite one yet... Wedding crashers! The Bravo host and the CNN journalist crashed a Santa Barbara wedding over the weekend and the photos are just too funny!

Cohen and Cooper have been touring the country as a dynamic duo for their joint lecture series, AC2: An Intimate Evening with Anderson Cooper and Andy Cohen. And while traveling to Santa Barbara for a show, the two happened to stumble upon a wedding taking place and couldn't help but join in on the festivities!

These are two wedding crashers we definitely wouldn't kick out of our big day! (Seriously, who wouldn't want these guys as wedding guests?!) So who was this lucky couple who made room for two more terrific (and unexpected) attendees? Holly Hilburn and James Roblee, who were tying the knot at the Four Season's Resort, The Biltmore Santa Barbara, when Cohen and Cooper came to join the fun. By the looks of it, the SoCal bridal party totally embraced the surprise guests, inviting Cohen to pose with the groomsmen (anyone think his red short shorts and chambray shirt will become the next big groomsmen trend?), while Cooper got cozy with the bride and groom. It's usually a major faux pas to forgo giving a wedding gift, but we'd totally accept these two's presence as the perfect present!

Cooper and Cohen definitely aren't the first celeb wedding crashers we've spotted showing up uninvited to random nuptials — they aren't even the only ones from last weekend! On Saturday, Matt LeBlanc surprised a bride and groom whose wedding was taking place at London's St. Paul's Cathedral, where he was filming car stunts right at the church steps. Somehow, we don't think racing attire fit their wedding dress code, but, hey, we'd invite a celeb wedding crasher to join the fun no matter their ensemble! (Well, as long as it's not Beyonc√© in a white dress... How can a bride compete with that?)

Anderson started Wednesday's 360 with Trump vs. the GOP, Rep. Paul Ryan as a possible replacement candidate and Sen. Lindsey Graham endorsing Cruz. Dana Bash had the details on this all including talk on a contested convention and the delegate math. Anderson then talked to Sunian Serfaty for more details. Analyzing all of this was a panel of 7 - Stuart Stevens, Gloria Borger, Kayley McEnany, Margaret Hoover, Ross Douthat, Bill Press and Bakari Sellers.
The on-screen title regarding Trump vs. GOP also had the *BREAKING NEWS* banner. This is not breaking news, the GOP establishment has been trying to stop Trump for at least a couple weeks.

The second segment was part two of the panel discussion. I watched Hayes interview Sen. Al Franken about Garland's SCOTUS nomination. Hayes also talked to Danielle Gray, a former senior Obama advisor... just Gray, not Gray and six other pundits.

Suzanne Malveaux reported on what Hillary Clinton and Trump debates would look like. The report included clips of the two of them sniping each other and clips from TV commercials. John King was at the MagicMap showing first a national poll showing Hillary leading Trump by 6 points thenthe 2012 results, how particular counties voted and how Trump could win. I was distracted for the rest of the segment.

Hillary and Sanders got their own segment with the focus on Obama's role in the 2016 campaign and his recent remarks leaning towards Hillary. Back to the panel of 7.

The only non-political segment in the first hour was the last one. SeaWorld will stop breeding orcas because of public outcry/backlash. Anderson, and later Martin Savidge's report, highlighted CNN's documentary "Blackfish" of being a major factor in SeaWorld's decision.

At the very end Anderson promised more on Trump vs. GOP in the second hour. I watched Maddow. Unfortunately like yesterday, the better non-political reports were in the second hour.
I checked the 360 website for the reports on the Univ. of VA student imprisoned in North Korea and the report on the double standard on Hillary for speaking loudly both from Wednesday's show. So far that report has not been posted to the 360 website. More than 3/4 of the reports there are on Trump. Big thanks, ATA, for posting Thursday's second-hour reports not about the 2016 campaign. I especially liked the video on Michigan Gov. Snyder testifying before Congress and Anderson's interview with Flint mom Leanne Waters.

The Republicans seem to be destroying themselves right before our eyes and as much as I don't like the Trumpification of 360, I do like listening to the panel discussions about what a mess the Republicans have made for themselves and hearing about the various schemes they're trying to devise in order to stop Trump--basically, the Republicans can't win one way or the other. It's still early in the campaign and they may work something out eventually, but I'm enjoying them reaping what they sowed from their crazy, unreasonable and racist base--the GOP built this monster that might end up killing them.

CAN'T WAIT FOR A HILLARY VS.TRUMP DEBATE. SHE WOULDN'T ALLOW MR KNOW NOT, TO GET AWAY WITH TALKING
ABOUT HIMSELF. ALL HILLARY HAS TO DO IS START SPEAKING AND ANY REASONABLE PERSON WILL KNOW THAT
MORON KNOWS ABOUT AS MUCH AS A NINE YEAR OLD ABOUT FOREIGN/ DOMESTIC POLICY, AND ZERO ABOUT GOVERNING.
I HOPE DRUMPF'S BRUSHING UP ON TALKING POINTS, BUT THEY DIDN'T SEEM TO HELP RUBIO.
VAN JONES MADE A GOOD POINT RECENTLY. HE SAID THAT THE DEMOCRATS "BETTER START TAKING TRUMP SERIOUSLY, BECAUSE HIS SUPPORTERS DO." THAT'S TRUE. DEMOCRATIC TURNOUT HAS BEEN LOW IN COMPARISON
TO REPUBLICAN TURNOUT....BUT THAN WE HAVE A CANDIDATE WHO KNOWS HER STUFF AND IS ALREADY A DIPLOMAT. SHE DOESN'T HAVE TO 'STUDY' IN ORDER TO BE CIVIL AND CREDIBLE.

BILL MAHER HAD MICHAEL WARE ON HIS SHOW 'REAL TIME.' WE ALL REMEMBER MICHAEL WARE'S REPORTING ON
CNN. HE WAS ALWAYS IN VARIOUS WAR ZONES AND UNFORTUNATELY, IT SEEMS THAT HE WAS A VICTIM OF WHAT
HE SAW AND HEARD. IT WAS OBVIOUS THAT HE IS STILL EMOTIONALLY STRESSED AND BILL HAD TO HELP HIM
A FEW TIMES DURING THE COURSE OF CONVERSATION. HIS THOUGHT PROCESS WAS NOT ALWAYS COHERENT AND HE
STRUGGLED TO FULLY COMPLETE HIS SENTENCES. WARE PRODUCED A DOCUMENTARY ON IRAQ THAT WILL BE SHOWN
ON HBO.
IT IS A SHAME THAT GOOD JOURNALISTS OFTEN COMPROMISE THEMSELVES AND THEIR REPORTING WHEN THEY
ARE ENGAGED IN COMBAT LIKE THE SOLDIERS THEY'RE REPORTING ON.
