Anderson Cooper 360 on Friday, April 8, 2016

Anderson Cooper anchored AC360 from the Washington, DC bureau.  Tomorrow he's taping an edition of Jeopardy! Power Players Week, which will be airing the week of May 16th.   The program centered on politics, but also included a segment of the arrests in Brussels of suspected terrorists and the third part of Anderson's interview with his mom.

Part three of Anderson's interview with his mom, Gloria Vanderbilt:

Anderson was on New Day this morning.  Here's the video:

HAVING VIEWED THE DOCUMENTARY ON HBO, MY OPINION HAS NOT CHANGED DRAMATICALLY.
I DID FIND ANDERSON'S CONVERSATION WITH HIS HALF BROTHER STAN, INTERESTING, PROBABLY A LOT MORE
INTERESTING THAN THE REHASH OF GLORIA'S LIFE PRIOR.
WHAT FILM MAKERS FAIL TO REALIZE IS THAT THERE IS AN ENTIRE GENERATION OR TWO OUT THERE WHO HAVE
NOT HEARD OF GLORIA VANDERBILT. THEY KNOW OF HER BECAUSE OF ANDERSON COOPER, THE CNN ANCHOR.
OTHER THAN THAT, MOST PEOPLE DON'T RELATE. SHE WAS RELEVANT IN THE SIXTIES. NOW SHE IS RELEVANT
BECAUSE SHE HAS BECOME THE MOTHER OF A FAMOUS PERSONALITY.
CUSTODY BATTLES ARE NOT NEWS TODAY....AND NORMAL PEOPLE STILL THINK A MILLION DOLLARS IS SUBSTANTIAL.
I WAS LEFT WONDERING HOWEVER, WHY THERE IS NO CONTACT WITH CHRIS, ANDERSON'S OTHER HALF BROTHER.
IN TODAY'S WORLD, HAVING A HALF SIBLING IS NOT UNUSUAL. WHAT IS UNUSUAL IS HAVING NO CONTACT.

Hey, CAPPY, I'm glad to see your review of the HBO documentary. About a decade ago DH and I cut the premium channels (HBO, Showtime, Cinemax) from our cable package because we rarely watched anything on them. Also, eventually most of those movies and programs show up elsewhere.

I haven't seen "Nothing Left Unsaid" but I remember from one of Gloria Vanderbilt's books that there was difficulty with her son Chris; sorry, don't remember the details. But I do remember Chris, in his early 20s, was the one who decided to have no contact with his mother and Gloria would very much like to see him again. I don't remember if Chris has any contact with his brother Stan or his half-brother Anderson.

Older people today might remember the Vanderbilt jeans. Not many would remember the big custody battle between Gloria's mom and her aunt. It's an interesting piece of history but as you said, custody battles today even very nasty ones, are not *new* news.

Totally agree that a million dollars is a lot of money.

"The Amazing Race" was on instead of Friday's 360, surprised to see Anderson was anchoring. Today the big news is the shooting of Will Smith - the former football player not the actor. I'll try to watch the second hour of Monday's 360 and see what the first story is. Smith or Trump again?

AC discussed his half brother on the Sway radio show on SiriusXM. He said that since filming the documentary Chris has reached out to them. He also said that Gloria respects his privacy.

If you want to watch it it's on YouTube
