What's that old saying? "The revolution will not be televised." Well nowadays sometimes military coup attempts are. Anderson did another outstanding job covering all the angles (except geography - see note below).

Anderson started with an overview before getting into the details with Jim Sciutto, Barbara Starr, Hakan Durkan, Dev Scott, Dan Watson, Ali Soufan, James Woolsey, (Ret.) Gen. Wesley Clark, and maybe a couple others whose names I missed. These people had either details, eyewitness accounts or analysis.
The news from Turkey was not only Breaking but was happening Live. One interesting element was footage of CNN Turk going empty as coup soldiers too over.
The first segment was another long one, going to :44 into the hour.
Late in the first hour there was an update from Nice, France with Clarissa Ward and Paul Cruickshank.
I didn't watch the second hour but found out later on the internet that CNN Turk came back into action after the military soldiers were driven from the building.

Holy cow, what in the world will happen Monday?

@ CAPPY - re: your comment in yesterday's post It's still a mighty big IF we get President Trump but I have a feeling he'll pull a Palin and resign way before the term is up. Once he finds out how tough the job is, his inability to deal with Congress and maybe even having shoes thrown at him in foreign countries - he'll say "screw this" and leave. However, that leaves Pence and he's horrible in his own ways.
Also, your comment about Trump not being able to find Nice or Istanbul on the map is very likely true but sadly probably the case for most Americans. These past two days MSNBC occasionally put a map on the screen showing Nice & Paris, France and Istanbul & Ankara, Turkey. I never saw a map of either country on 360. Geography is important and I wish news programs would do their part by showing maps not just of Nice and Istanbul but also of Baton Rouge LA, Saint Paul MN and London UK.

@JAANZA: PALIN DIDN'T RESIGN. HER TICKET LOST. AND PALIN, CAN'T STAND HER EITHER, IS SMARTER
THAN TRUMP. SHE KNEW SHE WAS IN OVER HER HEAD. DUCK FACE DOESN'T. HE'S IN IT TO WIN IT BECAUSE
HE'S "NOT A LOSER." HE DOESN'T HAVE HER MENTALITY. BUT I HOPE YOU'RE RIGHT.
IT IS QUITE POSSIBLE THAT THE GOP DELEGATES WILL PULL A FAST ONE TO SAVE THEMSELVES THE EMBARRASSMENT OF HAVING THIS COMPLETE IDIOT MAKE THEIR PARTY A LAUGHING STOCK.
PENCE IS NOT LIKABLE AND HIS VALUES ARE WORTHLESS, BUT HE IS A GOVERNOR OF A STATE. THAT MEANS
HE CAN GOVERN.
ANN COULTER SAID THAT PENCE WAS "TRUMP'S FIRST MISTAKE."
MOST AMERICANS AREN'T RUNNING FOR THE PRESIDENCY. MOST AMERICANS HAVEN'T READ A BOOK EITHER,
JUST LIKE THE DUCK....BUT THEY'RE NOT RUNNING FOR THE PRESIDENCY. THERE'S THE DIFFERENCE AND
NAME ONE OTHER PRESIDENT THAT "TWEETS." IT EVEN SOUNDS RIDICULOUS.
PENCE WAS CHOSEN BECAUSE "HE MAKES TRUMP APPEAR PARTY ACCEPTABLE."
BUT AS IN 08...."YOU CAN PUT LIPSTICK ON A PIG, BUT IT'S STILL, A PIG!"

@anonymous, I believe Jaanza was referring to Gov. Palin's resignation as Governor of Alaska.

Correct! Sarah Palin was less than two years into her first (and only) term as Governor of Alaska when McCain chose her as his running mate. She resigned as Governor in late June 2009. Palin said it was to be with family or something, hard to translate her most of the time. Smart observers noted she probably realized she could make more money in reality TV and as a FOX commentator.

This week is the GOP convention. Even with Anderson tossing questions to panels, will it be worthwhile to watch CNN or any convention coverage? Maybe just watch for its train-wreck appeal?

SO THERE WAS ANOTHER SHOOTING OF 3 OFFICERS AND SOME WOUNDED IN BATON ROUGE AND HOW DOES CNN
COVER THIS, WITH PUNDITS?
DID ANYONE EVER THINK OF DISCUSSING GUN CONTROL OR ARE WE JUST LIMITED TO SPEAKING OF THE
TRAGEDY AND HOW POLICE ARE MOVING TARGETS?
HILLARY SHOULD NOW PUT ON HER "BIG GIRL PANTS," AND SAY WE NEED A REAL CONVERSATION ABOUT GUN CONTROL AND NOT ONLY DO WE NEED A CONVERSATIONS ABOUT IT, WE NEED TO WRITE LEGISLATION THAT
ACTUALLY DOES SOMETHING ABOUT THE USE OF CERTAIN AUTOMATIC WEAPONS AND NOT LEAVE IT TO THE
STATES. IT IS TIME TO AMEND THE SECOND AMENDMENT FOLKS. WHO IS BIG ENOUGH TO SAY THIS?
NOT DONALD DUCK OR HILLARY BECAUSE THE GUN RIGHTS LOBBY IS WHAT.....?
IF HILLARY DOESN'T ADDRESS THIS ISSUE, BECAUSE OBAMA NEVER DID, NOT REALLY, THAN I WILL NOT
SUPPORT HER. IT IS NOT THE POLICE. IT IS THE WEAPON OF CHOICE AND IT HAS TO STOP, NOW.
WHAT WE DON'T NEED IS TO ANALYZE WHO SHOULD OR SHOULDN'T HAVE A GUN. NOBODY WAS GIVEN THE RIGHT TO USE AN AUTOMATIC WEAPON UNLESS WE RETURN TO THE GOLDEN AGE OF THE"WILD WILD WEST."
"BUT GUNS ARE IN THE HANDS OF THE WRONG PEOPLE," IT IS SAID.
THERE ARE NO RIGHT PEOPLE. GUNS KILL PEOPLE. END OF STORY.

THE MEDIA NEEDS TO STOP DESCRIBING DONALD DUCK AS "THE REAL ESTATE MOGUL.
MARK CUBAN IS A REAL ESTATE/ BUSINESS MOGUL. DONALD DUCK IS A CON ARTIST WHO MADE MONEY.
THERE IN LIES THE DIFFERENCE.
MIKE BLOOMBERG IS A BUSINESS MOGUL. TRUMP IS A CON ARTIST THAT CONED HIS WAY TO THE TOP,
AND NOW HE'S TRYING TO "CON THIS COUNTRY."
DO NOT CALL HIM WHAT HE IS NOT. IT GIVES HIM WAY TOO MUCH CREDIBILITY AND LEVERAGE.
HE DESERVES NEITHER.
