Right at 8 pm (EST) Blitzer and Tapper were talking about Hillary Clinton's upcoming speech. Dana Bash provided a few details. The same topic was taken up by Anderson and the panel. David Axelrod, Gloria Borger, Ana-Malika Henderson, Michael Smerconish and Van Jones gave their opinion on how Hillary should do it. CNN broadcast Colorado Gov. John Hickenlooper's speech concerning small business and jobs.
Right after Hickenlooper the panel came back, still talking about Hillary's speech while something was going on on-stage behind them.
I went to MSNBC to find out what that was. It was Ted Danson and Mary Steenburgen at the podium talking about the economy and introducing 5 or 6 Americans sharing their experiences whether it be with fighting for a higher minimum wage, concern about student debt, economic struggles and young folk just starting out. Although CNN didn't broadcast any of this, they did air Pennsylvania Gov. Tom Wolf's speech, which MSNBC didn't.

Gov. Wolf and then former Michigan Gov. Jennifer Granholm continued the business theme. Then it was the Republicans for Hillary speakers - first Doug Elmets (former Reagan official) and Jennifer Pierotti Lim (Republican Women for Hillary).
Next up was Dallas County TX Sherriff Lupe Valdez and three speakers who lost either sons or a husband who were cops killed while on duty.
After the commercial break Anderson had a time enough only to introduce the next DNC topic: diversity. Speaking were Rev. William Barber II, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar and Khizar Khan, whose son was a U.S. soldier killed in Afghanistan. Blitzed and Tapper came back and Tapper repeated Khan's best line, "Donald Trump, you sacrificed nothing!" After a minute or two of further summing up there was the speech of retired General John Allen, former Commander of U.S. Forces in Afghanistan. Blitzed and Tapper had a few moments to sum up Allen's speech before the next one, Capt. Florent Groberg, Medal of Honor Recipient.

Then the panel had a few more minutes. Jones, Begela and Borger praised the speeches. Anderson asked Jeffrey Lord about the Republicans on stage endorsing Hillary. Jeffy remarked, "Hillary is no Ronald Reagan." First, thank goodness for that. Second, Jeffy stole that from speaker Elmets who had said, "I knew Ronald Reagan. Ronald Reagan was a friend of mine. Donald Trump you're no Ronald Reagan!" Jeffy followed with babble about Democrats building fences not walls. Again I didn't get his point, his Trump-talking-point squawks.
After a couple of comments by Begala and Axelrod, the speech from California Rep. Xavier Becerra was on. I loved Becerra's speech not only for calling for Trump to release his tax returns but also his college transcripts.
The panel had another minute or two; Jones and Begala liked how the DNC was taking over usual Republican points like faith and family.
Next up was Katy Perry's short speech and her song.

Two hours of political coverage is pretty much my limit. I'll watch Hillary's speech later.

ATA, thanks for the social media photos of Anderson posing with regular people. If CNN had broadcast Ted Danson and Mary Steenburgen's speech, we'd all be talking about how much Danson and Anderson look like each other.

Hillary Clinton is smart, experienced, tough, caring and more than capable of stepping into the role of president. Good job by the DNC in making the case for Hillary and putting together a convention that showed why this country is already great.

THE NY TIMES IS REPORTING THAT RUSSIA IS BEHIND THE HACKING OF THE DNC AND IF THAT IS TRUE,
WHY DOES WOLF BLITZER SEE THIS AS ONE MORE OPPORTUNITY TO CRITICIZE HILLARY CLINTON, AS HE
WAS TRYING TO DO THIS AFTERNOON.
EVIDENTLY, PUTIN WOULD RATHER PLAY GAMES WITH TRUMP, BECAUSE TRUMP IS AN EASY MARK.
PUTIN FEARS A CLINTON PRESIDENCY. PUTIN ISN'T DUMB, BUT HE RECOGNIZES SOMEONE WHO IS TOTALLY
UNPREPARED AND ILLITERATE....AND DONALD J TRUMP FITS THIS DESCRIPTION.
RANDY KAYE ON CNN SPOKE WITH TRUMP SUPPORTERS AND THEY APPEAR TO BE JUST LIKE HIM...UNPREPARED
AND ILLITERATE. ONLY SOMEONE SHOULD TELL THEM, TRUMP'S GOT MONEY AND THEY DON'T AND HE'S NOT INTO
SHARING.
THEY SAY CLINTON CAN'T BE TRUSTED. RIGHT. AS IF TRUMP HAS "TRUST WORTHY" WRITTEN ACROSS HIS CHEST.: YES, TRUMP SUPPORTERS EVEN LOOK THE PART: PASTY, PALE, ILLITERATE, RED NECKS.
OR AS TRUMP WOULD SAY: "STRAIGHT FROM CENTRAL CASTING."
