Anderson Cooper 360 on Tuesday, September 13, 2016

Anderson Cooper anchored an expanded two hour edition of AC360 from the NYC studio.  There were some feisty panel discussions and interesting segments on tonight's program along with a couple of fact checks on the part of Anderson.  Guess the replay of Randi Kaye's puff piece on Ivanka Trump was to be expected?  If there's a particular segment of which anyone would like to see video posted, please leave your request in comments and we will post it.

Per reader request from Friday night's program (sorry for the delay):

I was three minutes late to Tuesday's 360. The first thing I saw was Ivanka Trump robotically and obviously reading off a teleprompter about her dad's new childcare policy and how great it will be for women. I went to Hayes. Anderson was just introducing a panel of five when I checked back so I went away again.

Checking in on the second segment, the panel was still discussing Trump's childcare policy. Instead I watched Hayes cover "NY Atty Gen Opens Inquiry Into Trump Foundation". Maybe Anderson also covered this topic at a time when I wasn't watching or in the second hour?

Anderson opened the third segment with a tiny bit of news about "Dueling Attack Ads" but then switched to Trump's still un-released tax returns, the audit excuse and his bankruptcies. Jessica Schneider had a very good report "Trump's Creditors Speak Out" on the small businesses Trump stiffed.

Next up was the "Dueling Attack Ads" and a smart discussion with just Gloria Borger, David Axelrod and Kirsten Powers.

My favorite segment was last in the first hour. Anderson overviewed Trump's health, wacky doctor note and his visit soon to the "Doctor OZ Show". Dr. Oz has promised not to ask any questions Trump does not want to answer.
I need some help here; instead of saying "softball" questions I've been calling them "marshmallow" questions. Now with Dr. Oz's statement, I need come up with something even softer than "marshmallow". Cotton candy? Goose down? Helium?
Absolutely loved seeing Arthur Caplan on 360 again and wish he'd been given more time. Caplan is a medical ethicist and said the Dr. Oz show on Trump's health will be "safe and easy", "...it's entertainment, it's marketing..." and "I don't think it's ethical".

I did not watch the second hour - not sorry about missing Kaye's report on Ivanka - but happily watched Maddow spend her first segment, 18 minutes, on Trump, his health, Dr. Oz and what a ludicrous flap the Dr. Oz episode will be.

Question for anyone who watched the entire second hour - Did Anderson say anything about Trump's visit to Flint MI? Maddow had this story on her show as "BREAKING NEWS" and "I'm covering it FIRST" so I wonder if there was someone at 360 watching Maddow and then quickly scribbled a note and sent to Anderson to tell viewers. BTW, Flint's Mayor want's nothing to do with Trump's photo-op in her city.

Thanks ATA for the video of Friday's panel discussion. It's getting funny how the Trump parrots always say people don't care about Trump's taxes even after being told repeatedly that they do. Rep. Gregory Meeks is new, I don't remember him on panels before but hope he shows up again. Anderson displayed decent pushback on the Trump parrots about Trump's birther debacle and never apologizing. And I loved that Karina Jean-Pierre got the last word, "Trump isn't in the business of apologizing or else he'd be apologizing every day."

COLLIN POWELL SAID IT BEST:"TRUMP IS A NATIONAL DISGRACE." MOST ASSUREDLY MOST OF US, HERE AGREE.
AND PERSONALLY I'D RATHER HAVE A "INCAPACITATED HILLARY" THAN A PHYSICALLY FAT, DONALD TRUMP
ANY DAY. HILLARY CAN WHIP PRESIDENT JACK ASS, MENTALLY WITH BOTH HER HANDS TIED BEHIND HER BACK
LYING DOWN ON A COACH, STARING AT THE CEILING.
DREW GRIFFIN IS BEGINNING TO GET MY RESPECT. FOR A WHILE HE DIDN'T SEEM TO UNCOVER ANYTHING OF
VALUE, BUT LATELY HIS SKEPTICISM IS BEGINNING TO SHOW ABOUT "THE JACK ASS."
HE CORNERED THE SUPPOSED DOCTOR FOR TRUMP, WHO ACTUALLY LOOKED LIKE AN AGING HIPPIE, HELD OVER
FROM THE 20TH CENTURY LOT AT MGM. HE DID SAY HE HAD GONE TO MEDICAL SCHOOL AND HAD A PRACTICE,
BUT, HE LOOKED LIKE A HIRED ACTOR TO PLAY THE PART OF AN MD. AND I WOULDN'T PUT IT PAST
THIS "NATIONAL DISGRACE" TO DO JUST THAT. NO CREDIBLE PHYSICIAN I KNOW, WRITES THE "JARGON" HE
WROTE ABOUT TRUMP'S FITNESS, UNLESS HE WAS PAID.
DONALD CUT 'THE CRAP.' WE ALL KNOW YOU'RE NOT PLAYING WITH A "FULL DECK," AND WE DON'T NEED DR.OZ TO VOUCH FOR THAT.
