Anderson Cooper 360 on Wednesday, March 30, 2016 + Anderson & Gloria Interviewed by People Magazine

Anderson Cooper anchored an expanded two hour edition of AC360 from CNN's Washington, DC Bureau.  All but about 15 minutes of the program was about Trump.  Hillary Clinton did call into the program to talk to Anderson, but he asked her about, you guessed it, Trump.  Apparently there were no Democrat pundits or panelists able to appear on AC360 as pundits and panelists were rotated in and out over the course of the two hours, but they were all Republicans or Conservative journalists.

Follow up panel:

At the end of the first hour  as a panel was discussing Trump, one of the panelists called out the Trump supporter and Anderson cut to commercial to calm things down:

After the commercial it was clear that Trump's supporter on the panel was going to be given the last word and everyone was told to play nice with her:

Steven Colbert had a little fun with Trump on The Late Show With Steven Colbert on Wednesday night.  Anderson calling Trump's behavior like that of a five-year-old came up a couple of time.  Enjoy!

Anderson and People Magazine were tweeting about an interview Anderson and Gloria did in promotion of their book coming out next week.  The full article will be in this week's People Magazine which hits news stands on Friday.

Anderson Cooper was back in the anchor chair covering The Lead for Jake Tapper.

Anderson Cooper on Monday, March 21, 2016

In place of AC360, Anderson was in the CNN Washington DC Bureau Election Center for a special program called "The Final Five" from 8pm to 11pm ET.   The program started with Anderson interviewing Republican candidate John Kasich live, then Wolf interviewed Ted Cruz live.  Following was a short panel discussion lead by Anderson.  After a break, Wolf's interview with Trump aired and then Anderson's interviews with Hillary Clinton and Bernie Sanders were played.  The last three interviews were not live (or if Hillary and Bernie were live someone was asleep on the "LIVE" button.)  Following all five interviews there was more panel discussion lead by Anderson and Wolf talked to John King at the magic wall about delegates.   At the end of the three hours Anderson announced that there would be primary and caucus coverage on Tuesday so it looks like it will be Wednesday night before we get an AC360 this week.  Alas, no coverage of President Obama's historic visit to Cuba.   Below are two behind the scenes photos posted to Twitter:

Anderson Cooper 360 on Friday, March 18, 2016

Anderson Cooper anchored AC360 from the NYC studio.  The program opened with the news of the capture of the remaining Paris Attack suspect, but after the first segment programming returned to politics all centering around The Donald.  The program ended with a short promotion of Bill Weir's The Wonder List season two premiere on Cuba, airing Sunday night.  Erin Burnett announced that she would be anchoring Out Front from Cuba on Monday as President Obama makes his historic visit to Cuba Sunday through Tuesday.   Anderson and Wolf will be in the DC studio on Monday evening with a three hour program that interviews each of the five remaining presidential candidates ahead of Tuesday's primaries and caucuses.  Tuesday night's programming is wall to wall political coverage.

Longtime readers will remember Mic Ware.  We were happy to see him show up on Real Time with Bill Maher to discuss/promote his upcoming HBO documentary, "Only The Dead See The End Of War."  Given tonight's lead story on AC360 was about ISIS, Mic's discussion with Bill provided a lot of background to what really caused ISIS.

From Brides.com:

Andy Cohen and Anderson Cooper Crashed A Wedding!

Andy Cohen and Anderson Cooper have quite a long list of accomplishments. From foreign journalism and international reporting to wrangling reality TV stars off of one another when the Real Housewives try to pull each other's hair out, their respective resumes are nothing to shake a stick at. But, despite all of their hosting and anchor credentials, their latest title is our favorite one yet... Wedding crashers! The Bravo host and the CNN journalist crashed a Santa Barbara wedding over the weekend and the photos are just too funny!

Cohen and Cooper have been touring the country as a dynamic duo for their joint lecture series, AC2: An Intimate Evening with Anderson Cooper and Andy Cohen. And while traveling to Santa Barbara for a show, the two happened to stumble upon a wedding taking place and couldn't help but join in on the festivities!

These are two wedding crashers we definitely wouldn't kick out of our big day! (Seriously, who wouldn't want these guys as wedding guests?!) So who was this lucky couple who made room for two more terrific (and unexpected) attendees? Holly Hilburn and James Roblee, who were tying the knot at the Four Season's Resort, The Biltmore Santa Barbara, when Cohen and Cooper came to join the fun. By the looks of it, the SoCal bridal party totally embraced the surprise guests, inviting Cohen to pose with the groomsmen (anyone think his red short shorts and chambray shirt will become the next big groomsmen trend?), while Cooper got cozy with the bride and groom. It's usually a major faux pas to forgo giving a wedding gift, but we'd totally accept these two's presence as the perfect present!

Cooper and Cohen definitely aren't the first celeb wedding crashers we've spotted showing up uninvited to random nuptials — they aren't even the only ones from last weekend! On Saturday, Matt LeBlanc surprised a bride and groom whose wedding was taking place at London's St. Paul's Cathedral, where he was filming car stunts right at the church steps. Somehow, we don't think racing attire fit their wedding dress code, but, hey, we'd invite a celeb wedding crasher to join the fun no matter their ensemble! (Well, as long as it's not BeyoncĂ© in a white dress... How can a bride compete with that?)

Anderson Cooper 360 on Wednesday, March 16th, 2016

Anderson Cooper anchored an expanded two hour edition of AC360 from the NYC studio.  Much of the time was devoted to politics; the results of Super Tuesday 3 and what it means going forward and President Obama's nomination of Merrick Garland to SCOTUS and the Republican Senate's obstructionism of his nomination.  Late in the second hour was a report on the U.S. University of Virginia student being sentenced to 15 years of hard labor in North Korea for trying to steal a propaganda poster from his hotel.  The program ended with a humorous look at the double standard for Hillary Clinton speaking loudly at her campaign events.

The following photos were posted to Twitter today.  Seems Anderson is on another eating adventure with Anthony Bourdain.

Anderson Cooper 360 on Friday, March 11, 2016

With Anderson Cooper in Costa Mesa, CA tonight for an AC2 Live show with Andy Cohen, the very capable John Berman was in the AC360 anchor chair covering the cancellation of the Donald Trump rally in Chicago.  The rally was shut down by protesters.

While Donald Trump's campaign and various pundits expressed their views of what happened/was happening, we will offer a little background.   The rally was to be held at the University of Illinois - Chicago.  The campus is very diverse with little incident.  Pretty much since the rally was announced, efforts began to have it moved off campus.  Faculty and students have been speaking out for days and protesters began organizing as well.  If anyone in the media or the Trump campaign were surprised by the size of the protest, they haven't been following local media.   People are upset at Trump's divisive speech and didn't want him on their campus, but protesters were calling for a peaceful protest.  As of this writing there were no arrests and no one was hurt.

Anderson Cooper 360 on Thursday, March 10, 2016

Anderson Cooper anchored AC360 from the University of Miami, ahead of the Republican Debate.  And yes, the entire hour was devoted to the upcoming debate with no Democrats on the panel.  One segment included Anderson interviewing Carly Fiorina as she came out in support of Ted Cruz today.  She remarked about how all the networks including CNN aired Trump's hour press conference/QVC show commercial free on Tuesday night.  Anderson pushed back and said that no other candidates were speaking at the time and that Mr. Trump was the Republican front runner.

video

In the spirit of CNN's "Fact Checking" candidates comments during debates,  we thought we'd "Fact Check" Anderson and found the following from the 11pmET hour of CNN's Super Tuesday 2 coverage.  While he only played a short clip of Hillary's speech which she made in the 9pm ET hour when CNN was glued on Trump's "show" he then questioned Hillary making her speech at the same time as Trump because she didn't want coverage.   We have to rate Anderson's comment on tonight's AC360 False given he acknowledged that Hillary was speaking at the same time as Trump as part of his Tuesday night coverage.   We also did a head desk on his Tuesday night coverage question!  We love Mr. Cooper so we are wondering if this was a short term memory problem or CNN dictates that anchors defend all Trump coverage as it's giving them a huge boost in ratings?    (We weren't the only ones that picked up on Mr. Cooper's false statement on AC360.  Media Matters reported it too, saying MSNBC aired Hillary's speech in it's entirety immediately following Trump's press conference, that CNN posted it to their web site and FOX didn't acknowledge it at all.)

video

Following the GOP Debate, Anderson was back to anchor a special two hour post debate edition of AC360.   There were no Democrats on the panel tonight, unlike last night's post Democratic debate coverage when Jeffrey Lord was on the panel.   Are the Republican post debate specials two hours because they have more candidates on the stage or is it simply the Trump ratings factor dictating the amount of coverage left over for everyone/everything else?

Anderson and Andy Cohen are in Southern California Friday and Saturday night for their AC2Live Shows.  Looks like a long weekend free of political coverage for Anderson.   Hope he enjoys it!
