Anderson Cooper 360 on Friday, January 6, 2017

Anderson Cooper anchored an expanded two hour edition of AC360 from the NYC studio.

A little behind the scenes from Anderson's NYE coverage.  We will be posting the 4 1/2 hours of coverage over the weekend.

Of course the big story on Friday's 360 was the shooting at Fort Lauderdale FL airport. Anderson spent the first segment detailing what happened and talking to Boris Sanchez who was standing right outside the airport. There was a report by Randi Kaye and a talk with Ivan Perez and finally an interview with Fort Lauderdale Mayor Barbara Sharief.

Anderson interviewed Steve Frappier witness to the airport shooting and, thanks to a laptop in his backpack, survivor. They had a photo of the bullet-stopping laptop.

A panel of David Soucie, Sam Fuentes, Philip Mudd and Juliette Kayyem discussed the investigation, national security angle and analysis of the airport shooting.

"Intel Report: Putin Directly Ordered Effort To Influence Election" was the chyron throughout most of the fourth segment. Jim Sciutto had the report and a short Q&A with Anderson. Then it was Jim Acosta for the Trump POV. The only thing that stood out here was Acosta stating Trump (or his team) promised a report in 90 days on the hacking and how to deal with future hacking. I'd bet the farm that won't ever be delivered.

I actually stayed for the panel in the last segment of the first hour. It was just Maggie Haberman, Michael Shear (New York Times) and Josh Rogin and they had a great talk on the latest intel report and Trump's response. Trump's tweet about Schwarzenegger's low ratings for his first "Celebrity Apprentice" was also discussed. Anderson was notably incredulous that Trump would take the time to tweet about ratings when he's supposed to be preparing to the POTUS. The panelists, who had paid attention to Trump's wacky behavior during the campaign, found Trump's tweet stupid but not surprising.

The Florida airport shooting started the second hour.

I'm grateful for all the hard work the Ladies of ATA do every day but ... 4 1/2 hours of Anderson and Kathy Griffin's NYE show?
1. Oh you poor thing who had to sit through all of that recording it.
2. No thank you.
Instead in honor of Anderson and alien cats everywhere, I watched 5 or 7 Anderson YouTube videos that feature cats. And they're not all Grumpy Cat! It didn't take 4 1/2 hours and was way more entertaining than his NYE show.

CALL ME A PRESIDENT TWEET MIND READER, SINCE HE DOESN'T READ, JUST WATCHES THE BOOB TUBE TO GET HIS
INFO, PERFECT FOR THE JOB OF POTUS AND THE COAL MINERS UNION, AND ALL THOSE OTHER TRUMP SUPPORTERS WHO
DIDN'T LIKE HILLARY HAVING A PRIVATE SERVER. I WATCHED A SMALL SEGMENT OF THE NEW APPRENTICE, JUST TO SEE HOW ARNOLD WOULD DO.....AND YEP, NOT GOOD. I NEVER WAS AN ARNOLD FAN, EVEN BEFORE HE MESSED AROUND WITH HIS MAID. IN FACT HIS FORMER MAID MIGHT MAKE A GOOD CONTESTANT AND FOR A FAILING SHOW,
A LOT MORE INTERESTING. THINK OF THE POSSIBILITIES.
SOMETHING WAS MISSING, AND IT WASN'T TRUMP. MAYBE IF THEY REPLACED ARNOLD WITH PAUL RYAN IT MIGHT MAKE A BETTER SHOW. PREPARE FOR WORSE THAN AWFUL RATINGS....LIKE TRUMP'S PRESIDENCY.
