I was two minutes late to Thursday's 360. At that point the chyron was "Officials: FBI Director Comey Briefed Trump On Russian Report" and Anderson had clips from his interview with Kellyanne Conway yesterday in which she was lying about that. Anderson said point blank "She was wrong. We were not wrong. She was." The rest of the first segment was just as good. Anderson had Jim Acosta, Jim Sciutto and Jake Tapper together to discuss Conway's spins, her lying, just plain wrongness and stating they would keep doing "aggressive reporting". They also talked about Trump's accusations against CNN (Sciutto, "...even though we were right."), the so-called leaks, Trump's news conference, Trump's team being "not in command of the facts", their hostility towards facts and the messengers who bring them. And it was all wrapped up with a few words on the function of journalism and the importance of the Fourth Estate.
This segment tied for being my favorite of the night.

"FBI Comey Facing Probe In Clinton Email Investigation" lead the second segment. An Inspector General of the Dept. of Justice will investigate Comey's Clinton investigation and why he announced it four days before the election. I stayed for Jeffrey Toobin's answers at the start of the panel then left because I didn't care (and thought was totally predictable) what Jeffrey Lord thought. John King and Maria Cordona were regretfully ignored because of Lord's presence.

However, Lord was back in the third segment on the topic of Trump's businesses and how his "sons will run it". After a clip of Trump saying that Anderson had a great Q&A with just Lord and Robert Reich. Reich intelligently explained why people are concerned, that it's not a blind trust, he's disdaining public trust, it's absurd to think Trump and his sons won't talk business and how important the independent Office of Government Ethics is. Lord saw no reason to worry, besides the Kennedys had business conflicts of interest and the American people have voted / decided and it's not a problem. Neither Anderson nor Reich brought up the point most American voters DID NOT vote for Trump. But Reich did point out Trump's broken promise to "drain the swamp", argued about money in politics and said Trump's administration is "ethically challenged". Lord waved away Reich's points away as being simply the concerns of "his side" and, again, the American people have decided it was all okay. Later Lord brought up Hillary and the Clinton Foundation as if her charity and Trump's tacky hotels are comparable.
This segment was my other favorite of the night.

Pamela Brown filed a report on Rep. Mike Pompeo's confirmation hearing for CIA Director; it's focus was mostly on Russian hacking but also included his views on waterboarding.

At the end there was a surprisingly long and very nice clip on Obama surprising Biden with the Medal of Freedom and then John King and Gloria Borger waxed poetic about how wonderful it was.

@ATA - Sorry about my misunderstanding about Anderson's interview of Conway. I sort of figured if Anderson did a bang-up job there would be a video posted of it. The thing is today I've seen several articles lauding Anderson for grilling Conway Therefore I'll give Anderson the benefit of the doubt for future Conway interviews. Unfortunately that doesn't mean I'll always watch them because she makes people here want to throw things at the TV.

I agree with Jaanza, the best segment of the show was the discussion with Jim Acosta, Jake Tapper and Jim Sciutto (who spoke strongly about how Team Trump's disdainful attitude towards the press and endless lies is setting a bad precedent for our democracy as a whole). The corruption and dishonesty of Team Trump guarantees that we'll be seeing plenty of conversations like this one on news programs throughout the Trump presidency--maybe more reporters will decide that sitting back silently as one of their colleagues (Acosta) gets shut down by Trump for asking crucial questions is not serving the public or their profession well.

Loved the clip and discussion of President Obama awarding VP Biden the Medal of Freedom. I will be so sad to see these two wonderful men leave.

I THOUGHT ANDERSON'S INTERVIEW WITH CONWAY WAS RIGHT ON TARGET. I KEPT THINKING WHY HE WASN'T LIKE THAT DURING THE SUMMER. IN FACT WHY WASN'T THE REST OF THE MEDIA THAT TENACIOUS DURING THE SUMMER AND INSTEAD OF "PETTING TRUMP AND HIS SURROGATES," "VETTING" TRUMP AND HIS SURROGATES WOULD HAVE BEEN A WELCOME RELIEF. THEY DID NO SUCH THING DURING THE MONTHS LEADING UP TO THE ELECTION. ALL OF THEM,
INCLUDING ANDERSON, WERE SOOOO AGREEABLE AND SOOO POLITE IT WAS SICKENING. ALL THEY SPOKE ABOUT WAS
HILLARY'S PRIVATE SERVER. SO NOW JIM ACOSTA AND JAKE TAPPER HAVE FINALLY DECIDED THE HONEYMOON
IS OVER AND "LET'S GO TO WORK?"
HEY, TRUMP WAS A WILD CARD MONTHS AGO AND YOU GUYS DID ZIP. SORRY. YOU KNEW HE DEFLECTED EVERY QUESTION, WASN'T FOCUSED, WOULDN'T STAY ON TOPIC, AND YET HE WAS ALLOWED TO ROAM FREE, AND NOW IT'S PAY BACK TIME. DRUMPF IS THE "MASTER OF MANIPULATION," AND A LIAR AND HE'S NOT GOING TO SHOW ANY OF YOU MUCH LOVE....NOT THAT YOU DESERVE IT, BUT THE PUBLIC DOES.
UNFORTUNATELY THE PRESS HAS THEIR WORK CUT OUT FOR THEM AND YOU GUYS, INCLUDING ANDERSON, "SET THE TONE, LONG AGO." ENJOY.

I would love to see that video, I was in transit and missed it. I did see Dan Rather call it a masterclass in journalism and that piqued my interest more. Thank you so much!

Something cute I saw the other day, Ken Bone (of red sweater fame) said that of all the people in media he had spoken to, he liked AC the most and called him the nicest guy in american media.

I saw an old Kelly clip the other day and Anderson had actually brought Kelly a gift of an Obama watch from the inauguration. I know you have said that he didn't appreciate Obama, but he was a total fanboy in the beginning. He got the exclusive interviews too. Though I have wondered if Obama attacking him during his 2007 campaign for no reason would have coloured his perception of him. Remember that? What did you think of that?

I was looking at twitter to catch up on the news and looked up AC's name and it is funny how many right wingers were angry about AC's KAC interview, saying that he "worshipped Obama" and was never hard on him. I was like, they should come here and talk to the commentators about that.

I think he added in that respect comment to swivel his interview back into neutral mode, he always does that when he is criticizing someone.

@cappy (I think)

Wasn't the one contentious interview Anderson had with KAC before the election about the Trump team's lies about the Comey letter? So it's not just a post-election thing, lying sets him off. But yeah, should have been way harder on fake news and the Trump team's fact-free campaign.

@Pragya Could you please be more specific than "that video" so we clip and post the right one.

"BUT HE WAS A TOTAL FANBOY IN THE BEGINNING." NO AC WAS NEVER A TOTAL FANBOY OF OBAMA AND IF HE WAS, HE KEPT IT A REALLY BIG SECRET. AND THE FIRST INTERVIEW WITH OBAMA WENT TO STEVE KROFT OF 60
MINUTES FAME BEFORE OBAMA'S FIRST TERM AND THEN ONE THEREAFTER.
KELLY RIPA MIGHT HAVE BEEN THE FAN AND THAT'S WHY AC GAVE HER THE WATCH, BUT NO ONE HERE BELIEVES THAT AC WAS EVER A FAN OF THE OBAMA ADMINISTRATION. AND NOW IT'S PAYBACK TIME FOR ALL THE MEDIA.
LET THEM BEGIN BY DOING "THEIR JOB AND CUT ALL THE B S FAWNING."
WE ARE WATCHING A NOMINEE THAT ROSE TO THE FOREFRONT OF THE GOP BECAUSE ALL THE OTHER CANDIDATES WERE SO BAD. HE IS BEGINNING WITH A CLOUD HANGING OVER HIS HEAD AND BOYCOTTS FROM THE DEMOCRATS
WHO SHOULD BE BOYCOTTING HIM FOR PARTAKING IN "RUSSIAN FOREPLAY." WE DON'T KNOW EXACTLY WHAT GAME
TRUMP IS PLAYING, BUT HE'S NOT GOING TO BE YOUR AVERAGE "PRESIDENT ELECT," TAKING THE STANDARD OATH FOR THE GOOD OF THE NATION....THAT IS FOR CERTAIN.
