Anderson Cooper 360 on Friday, February 3, 2017

Anderson Cooper anchored an expanded two hour edition of AC360 from the NYC studio.  The breaking story of the night was that a Federal Judge in the State of Washington halted Trump's Travel Ban Nationwide Temporarily.   After almost two hours of what about this, that and the other thing with a variety of legal counselors and a giant panel AC360 ended with a story of one little boy and how the ban affected him and his family.

Friday's 360 - the first hour at least - was a one-topic show: The decision by a federal judge in Seattle to temporarily stop Trump's Muslim travel ban.

Anderson began by getting the story from Laura Jarrett on Judge James L. Robart (appointed by Dubya Bush) who, at least temporarily, halted the travel ban from seven MidEast / African countries. Anderson interviewed Washington Attorney General Bob Ferguson on the why, the law, the Constitution and what might happen next. Danny Cevallos and Paul Callen and later David Gergen also had questions for Ferguson. This was all on the phone and too often 360 had Anderson simply staring into the camera and too rarely shots of protests from the past week.
Next it was a Q&A with Jim Acosta on the Trump administration's reaction and what they might do. Then a panel almost started, five pundits were sitting right there but Anderson spent several minutes questioning Jeffrey Toobin and Laurence Tribe on the phone. When the in-studio panel started it was Gergen, Cevallos, Callen, Dan Brownstein and Maggie Haberman. They reviewed the whole enchilada including the possibility of this going to the SCOTUS.
This first segment lasted 34 minutes.

in the next segment Anderson spoke with Rene Marsh on visas, refugees, airport procedures, ICE and border security. The panel - now up to 7 sitting in the studio - began again and I went to Hayes.

The last minute of the first hour was actually the first minute of the second hour (started at 8:59 EST). Anderson introduced the same topic again but I went to MSNBC for Maddow's perspective.

Regarding yesterday's post - Just now I'm seeing my post has "Blister" instead of "Blitzer". I'm pretty sure I wrote it correctly the first time but my over-eager spellcheck must have snuck in their own spelling.

@Pragya - Thanks for the info about ATA's Bannon video. I'll try to watch it later.

The second hour actually had very little Lord, the A.G. came back for a skype interview, which was fantastic.

To the team, I noticed you mentioning some stuff that had not been covered, I think a lot of AC360's planned segments are not getting aired because of breaking news, like I have seen 3 diff people on twitter announce being on that night and then not showing up. For eg, yesterday's show was clearly changed at the last minute because the court order came in at 7:45 p.m. and they spent almost the entire show discussing that. Which obviously meant their planned show didn't air.

AFTER VIEWING THE CLIP OF THE SYRIAN COUPLE WHOSE CHILD WAS BURNED DURING A RAID, I HAVE TO SAY THAT THOUGH I FEEL SYMPATHY FOR THE CHILD WHO IS ALONE IN A FOREIGN COUNTRY IN ORDER TO GET TREATMENT, SYRIAN COUPLES SHOULD START TO THINK ABOUT LIMITING THEIR PREGNANCY RATE.
I KNOW, THERE WILL BE THOSE WHO FIND THIS A HARSH REALITY, BUT IF YOUR COUNTRY IS BEING TARGETED
EVERY DAY, DO YOU REALLY NEED TO HAVE ANOTHER CHILD? WHY BRING ANOTHER HUMAN BEING INTO THE WORLD
UNDER THESE HORRIFIC CONDITIONS? WAIT UNTIL THERE IS AT LEAST A PEACEFUL AGREEMENT TO THIS UNREST.
YOU HAVE TO START USING COMMON SENSE AND THINK OF THE FUTURE FOR YOUNGER GENERATIONS.
THIS IS TOUGH LOVE ADVICE, BUT SOME TIMES THAT IS THE ONLY ADVICE THAT MAKES SENSE.
