Anderson Cooper 360 on Tuesday, February 28, 2017

Anderson Cooper anchored a special edition of AC360 in the 8pmET hour from CNN's Washington, DC Bureau.  Anderson was joined by Wolf Blitzer, Jake Tapper, Dana Bash and a giant panel to discuss the upcoming Presidential Address before the Joint Session of Congress.

Anderson was back after the speech with a super-sized panel to discuss the pundit's reactions.   While there was polling on the speech done by CNN, there were no parameters given for the polling pool other than those who watched the speech.  Without parameters it's hard to gauge the value of such a poll.

Catching up:

Anderson's Monday night interview with Bernie Sanders per reader request:

Anderson mentioned Jon Stewart's appearance on the Late Show with Stephen Colbert in the pre-speech hour.  It seems he may have missed the point.  Here's Jon's appearance so you can be the judge:

And a reader mentioned an illustrated interview that Anderson did with the New York Times.  Here's the video:

Whenever Hillary Clinton got high poll numbers for a debate or President Obama got high marks for a speech, CNN made made a point to tell the audience that the high marks were mainly because more Democrats were watching than Republicans--it's been determined that more Republicans were watching the speech last night than Dems--I wonder if CNN mentioned this or did they just imply that Americans overall rated the speech high--I didn't watch it.

Van Jones is rightfully taking some hits on Twitter and other media sites for praising Trump's moment with the widow of Ryan Owens and saying Trump was finally 'presidential'. A lot of people feel that Trump exploited the grieving widow in that moment and the media figures praising him have missed the point--there was no valuable information obtained in the Yemen raid and Trump is blaming his generals for a failed raid that took the life of Owens and many other innocent men, women and children. Trump and his team were neglectful in planning the mission and now are trying to blame President Obama and the generals while scoring some points with the media and the media fall for it as usual.

WHILE IT IS EASY TO SAY THAT DRUMPF EXPLOITED THE WIDOW, SHE DID COME TO THE EVENT OF HER OWN
FREE WILL. I THINK SHE HERSELF WAS BASKING IN THE ACCLAIM AND ATTENTION. NOT THAT IT WASN'T DESERVED.
OF COURSE DRUMPF BLAMED HIS GENERALS AND HE WILL KEEP ON BLAMING THEM, NEVER HIMSELF. WHAT AN
ACTOR. WE FORGET, HE WAS ON TELEVISION AND SCRIPTED FOR MANY YEARS ON "THE APPRENTICE" AND HE
ALWAYS MANAGED TO STAY ON SCRIPT THEN, SO IT IS NO SURPRISE THAT HE WAS CAPABLE OF DOING SO FOR THE STATE OF THE UNION.
I LIKE VAN JONES AND HE WAS RIGHT IMHO, THAT TRUMP GAVE A "GOOD PERFORMANCE." THAT'S EXACTLY WHAT IT WAS. I HEARD HIM SAY THAT THE LIBERALS, WILL HAVE TO COME UP WITH SOME PLAN TO COMBAT
THESE 'OCCASIONAL' PRESIDENTIAL LIKE PERFORMANCES, AND THEY WILL.
WE KNOW HE'S A LIAR, BUT HIS BASE IS ALSO BASKING IN THE GLORY OF HEARING 'THEIR GUY' ACKNOWLEDGE THEM AND THEIR NEEDS, AND THEY NEEDED TO HEAR A SANE, WELL SPOKEN, SEEMINGLY IN CONTROL, BOAR. LAST NIGHT WE HEARD FROM THE REPUBLICANS AND THEIR "TAMING OF A WILD BOAR."
THE BOAR MISSED HIS CALLING. HE SHOULD HAVE BEEN A USED CAR SALESMAN. THEIR SPECIALTY IS LYING. WE KNOW ALL POLITICIANS LIE, BUT THEY HAVE SOME REDEEMING FEATURES. THE BOAR HAS NONE.
