Anderson Cooper 360 on Thursday, June 15, 2017

Anderson Cooper anchored AC360 from the top of a parking garage near the stadium where the Congressional baseball game was being played in Washington, D.C.

At the end of the 9pmET hour when he tossed to Don Lemon, Don asked him to stay on for a few minutes:

Anderson Tweeted the following this evening:

I was 3 minutes late; Anderson was already talking to Phil Mattingly about the Congressional baseball game, how Rep. Scalise is doing and the GOP/Dem show of unity. Next he talked to Brian Todd for the latest on Scalise and then Sanjay Gupta for the medical details. During all of this Anderson and the reporter he was talking to were shown on the side in small boxes on the screen while the baseball game got the big box and the majority of the screen space. That annoyed me and made me check out Hayes; no baseball game shown on his show. Anderson conducted a fluffy interview with Sen. Mitch McConnell (R-KY) and Sen. Chuck Schemer (D-NY) about political unity. The first segment ended with a discussion with Gloria Borger and Mark Preston about political unity, was it for real and will it produce results?

Trump's angry tweets about the Russia investigation started the second segment. That and the new news of SIL Kushner's business dealings also being investigated. Anderson talked to Jeff Zeleny regarding the White House not answering any questions about the investigations instead referring people to ask Trump's lawyers, Trump's tweets, his targets Hillary Clinton and Robert Mueller and now Veep Pence hiring his own private lawyer. Next up Manu Raju answered questions about the investigation, showed clips of Senators spinning or avoiding answering questions about Trump being under investigation, whether Trump will testify and whether Trump will "dismiss" Mueller. Anderson had Jeffrey Toobin and Alan Dershowitz analyze all of these topics and also the issue of obstruction of justice.

I missed the start of Anderson's interview with Rep. Roger Williams (R-TX) and his staffer Jack Barth who was shot in the leg during yesterday's attack at the baseball practice. This was about the same time Hayes was covering the "secret" GOP healthcare bill.

Rep. Mark Sanford put out a statement partially blaming Trump for the shooting at the Congressional baseball practice yesterday. Anderson interviewed him and Sanford explained and clarified and the chyron expanded the blame to include "division". I didn't watch all of it.

I'm glad there were no huge panels on today's 360 but I'm still waiting to see coverage of the GOP healthcare bill or their attempt to repeal the Dodd-Frank Wall Street Reform/Consumer Protection Act or the latest from Flint Michigan.

ANDERSON HAS TO LEARN NOT TO KEEP BEGINNING HIS INTERVIEWS AFTER DISASTERS WITH A FRESH START.
I AM TIRED OF HIS "HOW DOES THAT MAKE YOU FEEL?" IT WORKED DURING KATRINA. FAST FORWARD TO
2017, AND HE STILL BEGINS EVERY INTERVIEW RELATED TO AN INJURY OR DISASTER WITH THE SAME WORN OUT PHRASE.
HERE'S HOW I FEEL ANDERSON. YOU'RE BEING PAID BIG BUCKS TO DO JOURNALISM IF YOU DON'T WANT TO BE CALLED "AN ANCHOR." SO DO IT. HOW DO YOU THINK ANYONE FEELS AFTER DEALING WITH A SHOOTING OR A NATURAL DISASTER, OR A TERRORIST ATTACK? IT IS A REDUNDANT QUESTION. IT IS ALSO RHETORICAL BECAUSE YOU ASK EVERY INJURED PERSON OR FAMILY MEMBER THE EXACT SAME THING.
HERE'S YOUR HOMEWORK....THINK OF A BRAND NEW PHRASE TO BEGIN EACH NEW INTERVIEW, BECAUSE FRANKLY I AM BORED STIFF LISTENING TO YOUR OH SO EMPATHETIC PHRASE.
HOW ABOUT ASKING CHUCK SCHUMER A QUESTION ABOUT THE GUN LOBBY OR BETTER YET, WHY THIS PERSON DID WHAT HE DID....FRUSTRATION WITH REPUBLICANS MIGHT RING A BELL. FRUSTRATION WITH THE TRUMP ADMINISTRATION MAY RING TWO BELLS.
AMERICANS ARE ANGRY AND THEY HAVE A RIGHT TO BE, AND HAVING A JOURNALIST WHO REALLY ACTS AS THOUGH HE COULD CARE LESS ABOUT WHO HE'S INTERVIEWING DOESN'T HELP ONE BIT, AND REPORTING FROM THE BASEBALL FIELD WHERE THE SHOOTING TOOK PLACE, IS TASTELESS.JMO
