Thursday's 360 had a great first segment. But then Jeffrey Lord showed up and I mostly watched Hayes.

I was a minute late. A clip of Sarah Sanders excusing/justifying Trump's awful tweet about Mika Brzezinski was on and then later a clip of her saying Trump does not incite violence. Anderson said her excuse/justification came out of the "Twilight Zone" and proved her wrong by showing numerous clips of campaigner Trump explicitly inciting violence at his rallies and a clip of him saying he wanted to punch a guy. Then there was an Ivanka clip from FOX where she said she didn't know the media was going to be so vicious and in no way did her dad deserve it. The best clip was Melania from a long time ago telling Anderson her "cause" would be to end cyberbullying. And this all ended up with various Trump supporters stating the media shouldn't focus on Trump's tweets.
Anderson had a great Q&A with Jim Acosta; this part included a clip of Trump and Melania waiting outside for the arrival of the South Korean President. A reporter asked Trump several times about the Mika tweet, which Trump ignored but Melania gave him a look at least twice that showed how much she hated the whole situation. Acosta said 'it's not in Trump's DNA to apologize'. Anderson read several tweets from GOPers criticizing Trump for the Mika tweet.
The segment ended with a very good interview with Sen. Susan Collins (R-ME) about the tweet, dashed hopes for civility in politics or the President, Trump's lack of political experience, trying to guess what the "Big Surpise" he talked about is, the GOP healthcare bill and her opposition to it.

The Mika tweet was also the topic for the second segment. Anderson introduced Maggie Habermann and Jeffrey Lord. Meanwhile Hayes was on the same subject but he was talking to Joy Reid and Dan Rather. Personally, I place Reid and Habermann at the same level. Rather is so far ahead of Lord it's no contest. Rather all the way and even more.

"Trump Tweet Engulfs White House" was the starting chyron for the third segment. After a clip of Sen. Collins stating how bad this looks worldwide, Habermann and Lord came back. I watched Hayes cover the GOP healthcare bill and interview Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-VT).

I missed the start of Randi Kaye's report compiling Trump's many mean and vindictive comments and tweets. The report included "Grab them by the pussy", Melania's forgiveness of that and more examples of Trump disrespect and contempt for women. Micheal D'Antonia joined Habermann and Lord in the panel. D'Antonio's a good guy but instead I watched Hayes cover Trump's partial travel ban which just went into effect.

This Thursday Hayes had the better show. Dan Rather, no Jeffrey Lord and coverage of other news stories.

Maybe Anderson covered other news in the second hour? Nevertheless, Hayes could cover the Mika tweet, the healthcare bill and the travel ban all in one hour (presuming Mika tweet was also his lead story). Of course, the Mika tweet deserved attention but not the whole first hour.

ATA, thanks for the heads up about "The Pulse of Orlando", however, because it's the Friday before a big holiday weekend it's likely there will be a huge news story breaking tomorrow. Maddow is predicting it and history backs her up.

@JAANZA: THANK YOU FOR YOUR CONCISE UPDATE ON 360. AT LEAST YOU KNOW I READ WHAT YOU WRITE EVEN IF I DON'T ALWAYS WATCH THE SHOW.
BUT I HAVE TO SAY, DAN RATHER IS NOT WELL LIKED BY MANY SINCE HIS FIRING FROM CBS.
AND I FIND HIM A BIT CREEPY. I DID USED TO LIKE HIM BUT THAT WAS THEN.
PERSONALLY I PLACE HIM WITH JEFF LORD....NOT THAT THEY ARE REMOTELY POLITICALLY ON THE SAME LEVEL.
AND ANDERSON DID A VERY "TEPID PIECE" ON THE WOMEN IN "DONALD TRUMP'S" LIFE. THERE WAS NOTHING NEW IN THIS PIECE, NOTHING AT ALL IN THE SECOND SEGMENT.
